3 City of London small cell network In April 2017 the City of London unveiled plans to significantly improve wireless connectivity throughout the Square Mile The City had offered around 3,000 street assets for use in a public tender for use as telecommunications infrastructure based upon 4G small cells next generation Wi-Fi network neutral host backhaul system. Contract to build and manage the network was awarded to CTIL, infrastructure joint venture between Telefonica/O2 and Vodafone. Project is one of largest single investments in wireless infrastructure ever seen in London Commercial in confidence 3
