[Terangkan fungsi TIGA (3) bahagian utama didalam sistem komunikasi ] [6 marks/ markah] (b) Discuss the role of modulation and multiplexing in facilitating signal transmission. [Bincangkan peranan modulasi dan pemultiplek dalam memudahkan penghantaran isyarat.] [4 marks/ markah] (c) A receiver with a 50 Ω input resistance operates at a temperature of 29 o C. The received signal is at 90 MHz with a bandwidth of 5 MHz. The received signal voltage of 8µV is applied to an amplifier with a noise figure (NF) of 2.6 db. Evaluate: [Sebuah penerima dengan nilai rintangan masukan 50 Ω beroperasi pada 29 o C. Isyarat telah diterima pada 90 MHz dengan lebarjalurnya sebanyak 5 MHz. Isyarat voltan yang diterima pada 8µV telah di masukkan kedalam penguat dengan nilai hingar (NF) 2.6 db. 2 Question 2 [Soalan 2] (C4, CO1, PO1) (a) Compare between simplex and duplex communication by giving one example for each types. [Bandingkan antara komunikasi simpleks dan dupleks dengan memberikan satu contoh bagi setiap jenis.] (4 Marks/Markah) (C4, CO1, PO1) (b) A communication circuit consists of two amplifiers and two filters with cascaded connection. The absolute power gains for the amplifiers are 20 and 0.85 while the filters introduce attenuation of 16.4 db and 2.9 db respectively. The input power is 36mW. Calculate: [Satu litar komunikasi terdiri daripada dua penguat dan dua penapis dengan sambungan sesiri. Gandaan kuasa mutlak untuk penguat adalah 20 dan 0.85 manakala penapis masing-masing memperkenalkan pengecilan 16.4 db dan 2.9 db. Kuasa masukan adalah 36mW. Kira:] (i) Input power in dbm [Kuasa masukan dalam dbm.] (1 Mark/Markah) (ii) Gain for each amplifier in db. [Gandaan setiap penguat dalam db.] (iii) Absolute power ratio for each filter [Nisbah kuasa mutlak untuk setiap penapis] (iv) Output power in Watts and dbm [Kuasa keluaran dalam Watts dan dbm.] (v) New output power in dbm if the output signal is combined with a second signal with a power level of 19dBm. [Kuasa keluaran baru dalam dbm jika isyarat keluaran digabungkan dengan isyarat kedua dengan tahap kuasa sebanyak 19dBm.]

3 (3 Marks/Markah) (C5, CO1, PO1) (c) A receiver system has a RF amplifier with a gain of 8 db and a noise figure of 3 db connected in cascaded with an IF amplifier with a gain of 10 db and 6 db noise figure. These two amplifiers are then connected to a power detector which has insertion loss of 2 db and 5 db noise figure. Evaluate the noise figure of the receiver system. [Sistem penerima mempunyai penguat RF dengan gandaan sebanyak 8 db dan angka hingar sebanyak 3 db disambung secara sesiri dengan penguat IF dengan gandaan sebanyak 10 db dan angka hingar sebanyak 6 db. Kedua-dua penguat kemudiannya disambung ke pengesan kuasa yang mempunyai kehilangan selitan sebanyak 2 db dan angka hingar sebanyak 5 db. Nilaikan angka hingar sistem penerima tersebut.] (6 Marks/Markah) Question 3 [Soalan 3] (a) (b) Modulation is an electronic technique in which a baseband information signal modifies a carrier signal for the purpose of the frequency translation and carrying the information signal via radio. Justify why modulation is needed in a communication system. [Pemodulatan adalah satu teknik elektronik di mana isyarat maklumat jalur asas mengubahsuai isyarat pembawa untuk tujuan terjemahan frekuensi dan membawa isyarat maklumat melalui radio.
