The mainframe provides 0.01% timing accuracy with up to 100MHz repetition rate, 1ns step delay and pulse width resolution. The triggering jitter of 25 ps provides synchronizing capabilities usually associated with only best delay generators. The mainframe without any module provides capable positive and negative outputs. Interchangeable Plug-in modules let you select the output configuration you currently need. Capabilities of the mainframe with its module include: single pulse, double pulse, impulse, external drive, external modulation and CW. The modules themselves determine which of these capabilities are available. Modules: These interchangeable modules provides electrical signals from 5V, 180 ps rise time to 800 V, 10 ns rise time. The modules offer rep rate, and width and amplitude control. The following chart presents the Electrical Module Models. The detailed characteristics of every module are presented in the following pages. 2 MAINFRAME SPECIFICATIONS Listed below are the timing and output characteristics of the 6040 mainframe. However, modules determine specific performance limits and characteristics such as maximum pulse width and maximum rep rate. 3 310 H- FAST 800 V ELECTRICAL PULSE MODULE Model 310H adapts the Mainframe 6040 to amplitude requirements of up to 800V for 50 ohm loads. The operating capabilities of the 6040/310H provide outputs in the form of 1 ns resolution digital delays and gates and PRFs from.01 Hz to 100 khz (or one shots), in both single and double pulse formats. Leading edge transitions are 10 ns or less and trailing edges as low as 10 ns. Polarity is switch selectable and pulse width can range from a minimum of 25 ns up to 20 us. The 6040/310H combination retains the high timing accuracy, low jitter, nanosecond resolution, memory storage and programmability available with other installed 6040 modules. Also, the 310H self-protects against damage from operation at excessive duty factors or into a short circuit, with a light signaling overload conditions. Refer to the eight-page Model 6040 product bulletin or at this site for additional detailed information on equipment operation, a timing diagram and applications. Resolution Linearity +/- 1%. 4 202 H- 300 V ELECTRICAL PULSE MODULE Fast High Voltage Pulses with and Width Control The Model 202H is a high-voltage (300V) plug-in module for BNC Model 6040 Mainframe. It offers nanosecond rise times and very low jitter. The sharp edges of the 202H are ideal for testing components, gating flash-lamps, triggering capacitor banks, or other experiments requiring high voltage pulses. The voltage is terminated into 50 Ohms. The pulse amplitude and width are adjustable via the front panel or remote programming. The Model 202H may be triggered with an internal rate generator, external trigger or external modulation. There is an ECL output, a from BNC Model 6040 Mainframe, and a High Voltage from the 202H module (BNC connector). Resolution Linearity +/- 1%. Transition Times (10% to 90%) Max. Max. Current Droop Aberrations Settling Time 20 V to 300 V into 50 ohms. Fixed 0 V baseline. Polarity internally switch selectable. 2 V (to max. amplitude). 5 201 E- 150 PS RISE TIME PULSE MODULE Fast Pulses with and Width Control The Model 201E is a plug-in module for BNC Model 6040 Mainframe. It offers 150pS rise times and very low jitter. The sharp edges of the 201E are ideal for testing components or triggering experiments. The pulse amplitude and width are adjustable via the front panel or remote programming. The 201E may be triggered with an internal rate generator, external trigger or external modulation. There is an ECL output, a from the 6040, and a Fast from the 201E module (SMA connector). Offset Rise Time 1 V to 5V into 50 Ω +/- 5 V 150 ps Internal 0.01 Hz to 100 MHz; external 0 to 100 MHz. 3 ns to 640 seconds. 1 ns available through internal adjustment or with External Drive (contact factory).
