Our 19 Operation Service Teams mean above 300 service technicians and experts are available. The Customer Network Team handles your disruptions and quality reports, and organizes maintenance activities. Years of Operations Many of our specialists have been in broadcasting for years and have extensive technical expertise and broad experience. These highly qualified technical experts act as Second-Level Support to master complex challenges and fix difficult outages. Our technicians modern service vehicles are equipped with high-quality measuring equipment and tools to ensure they are quickly on-site and ready for action, even in demanding conditions. 24h service in all kinds of weather Our Field Service doesn t just respond during regular working hours the Operation Service Team also offers an on-call service that s available around-theclock, even on weekends. And additional technicians are on standby when necessary. All technicians drive an off-road vehicle that enables access to every location in any weather. The vehicles are equipped with replacement gear, measuring devices, tools and the equipment necessary for backup measures. Transmitters with low output and peripheral devices can easily be replaced.
4 06 07 On-Air Despite an Outage We maintain several portable backup transmitters, which are supported by additional portable transmitters, for increased performance. Then there are emergency generators and mobile 40-metre towers that can replace broken antenna systems. Programmes remain on-air even during outages. If a replacement part isn t immediately available, a logistics platform ensures the required equipment can be delivered in no more than two hours. YOUR ADVANTAGES AT A GLANCE Full service for owners of radio infrastructure Nationwide Field Service with short travel times Minimal recovery times following disruptions Service technicians and experts with years of experience Large vehicle fleet with extensive equipment and spare parts/ replacements Mobile antennas as backup Internal employee training Highest standards of operational safety and protection from accidents Qualification without compromise MEDIA BROADCAST knows that good training and years of experience are indispensable in broadcasting. Therefore, our Field Service is comprised solely of our own employees. All broadcast technicians have been trained on best practice measuring procedures and have years of experience with transmitters and antennas. MEDIA BROADCAST trains new employees in a three-and-a-halfyear training programme. Addi tional training and development seminars ensure a consistently high level of qualifications that are always up-to-date. This includes rescue exercises on antenna carriers and workplace safety measures. After all, working on antennas is physically very demanding and takes place at dizzying heights.
5 08 09 PERMANENTLY IN GOOD SHAPE: REGULAR MAINTENANCE FOR ANTENNAS AND TRANSMITTERS With antennas and transmitters, several technical parameters must continuously be measured, evaluated and adjusted. It s the only way for antenna operators to achieve the best-possible transmission power, availability and conformity with current regulations. And it s the only way to keep antennas and transmitters permanently in good shape. To ensure this, we offer regular inspections for the antenna itself as well as the connected transmitters.
6 11 YOUR RELIABLE PARTNER FOR SERVICE COORDINATION We are happy to coordinate service appointments with site owners, other users and antenna operators to meet the needs of each individual customer. We are also happy to oversee the coordination of technicians and procedures on-site. A1 ANNUAL VISUAL ANTENNA INSPECTION MEDIA BROADCAST visits the antenna location and inspects all key antenna components. Visual inspection of the entire antenna surface for completeness, loose components and (weather) damage Inspection of supply lines to ensure cables are connected and undamaged Inspection of fire protection equipment on antenna cables Examination of thermal abnormalities with antenna cables and the connection with points and filters, for example with the help of infrared cameras Documentation and evaluation of the inspection A2 REPAIRING ANTENNAS MEDIA BROADCAST quickly arrives on-site during disruptions thanks to its broad presence and always has the necessary spare parts on-hand. The experienced transmitter and antenna specialists on our teams tackle antenna repairs and quickly restore the availability of antennas.
7 12 13 A3 MAJOR FOUR-YEAR ANTENNA INSPEC- TION A more intensive inspection of antennas and cables is necessary every four years. Antenna operators can then rest safe in the knowledge that everything is running smoothly and they are meeting all their regulatory requirements. Cable Visual inspection and close examination of antenna cables and the cable run for loose components, burn marks, corrosion, imper - meability and mechanical deformations Minor repairs to cable sheathing and fastening hardware Climbing of antenna structure while adhering to German workplace safety guidelines for broad - casting (ASiR) for fall protection and rescue Securing the surroundings during the inspection with signs and barriers Antenna Ensuring antennas are not transmitting during the inspection Visual inspection of the antenna equipment Special, detailed inspection for warming of screws and splitters Close inspection of antenna elements for lightning damage, corrosion, stability, mechanical deformations, completeness and impermeability Tapping antenna elements to observe electric behaviour Photo documentation of any damage Electrical measurement of key antenna data including points and filters Documentation and evaluation of the inspection A4 TECHNICAL INSPEC- TION OUTSIDE OF NORMAL WORKING HOURS When necessary, we can perform technical inspections outside of regular working hours after 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. However, we still require daylight. A5 SHORT-TERM APPOINTMENTS When requested by customers, MEDIA BROADCAST also offers on-site appointments at short notice in addition to regular antenna inspections. Turning off functions in a secured way, bringing them back online and checking them are all a part of a MEDIA BROADCAST service team s professional routine.

This inspection includes comprehensive measurements of the transmitter: Transmitters are subject to strict regulations for electrical security. This is also part of MEDIA BROADCAST s regular four-year inspection. Transmitter operators can ensure that they meet the legal requirement of a technical inspection of fixed electrical equipment every four years. The inspection includes: Measuring frequency deviations of the pilot tone Measuring multiplex capability Measuring frequency deviation of the RDS carrier Measuring frequency deviation of the pilot tone and RDS Inspecting modulation and adjusting corrective factors Measuring amplitude-frequency response Measuring harmonic distortion Measuring stereo crosstalk Measuring signal-to-noise ratio Inspection documentation and evaluation with a test certificate Transmitter inspections every four years also include an inspection of the fire alarm s protection capabilities: Inspecting the batteries Inspecting the supply voltage Testing alarm devices using test gas Providing a test certificate to customer Repeating inspections according to the DIN VDE 0105 norm by trained electricians Ensuring usage of the proper equipment, protection against physical contact, correct conductor labelling and other aspects of electric safety Testing to see if, for example, protection and monitoring equipment as well as high-voltage equipment function properly Measuring loop resistance, network impedance, leakage resistance, additional potential equalisation and others Inspection documentation and evaluation
