When the amplifier goe into protection it will flah a pecific number of time (decribed below) indicating the ource of the event. It will alo flah when the amplifier i powering up, approximately 4-5 flahe until the turn-on delay ha expired (actual number of flahe depend on the length of time elected via the bitwriter). Below i a decription of reaon the amplifier could engage the protection circuit. While mot protection mode are elf-reetting when the problem i reolved, hort or overcurrent latche and power mut be cycled off/on to retore operation. The protection indication will elfreet once the condition ha been fixed. Advanced troublehooting can be performed uing the ESP/Protection Statu indicator LED. Short: Speaker wire pinched or horted together or to ground (frame of vehicle). ESP/Protection Statu LED will alo flah 2 hort flahe, followed by a long paue (approximately 8-10 econd). Overcurrent: Check for poible peaker iue() or peaker wiring pinched in a door or other metal. Make ure peaker() load i not below minimum 2Ω load. The ESP/Protection Statu LED will alo flah 2 hort pule, followed by a long paue. DC Offet: Thi can happen if the intallation inadvertently connect the power wire to the peaker input(). Thi can alo happen if the amplifier ha an internal problem. The amplifier will flah 4 hort pule, followed by a long paue, then repeat. Undervoltage: Vehicle charging ytem i not upplying enough voltage to the amplifier. Thi can alo occur if you ue too mall a gauge wire or the terminal connecting the amplifier power

19 to the electrical ytem are dirty or corroded. The ESP/Protection tatu LED alo will give 1 hort flah followed by a long paue for undervoltage. Thi cycle will repeat. Overvoltage: Vehicle charging ytem i upplying too much voltage or over the amplifier rated DC input. Uually thi occur when there i a problem with the electrical ytem. Turn off the headunit when jump-tarting the car. The ESP/Protection Statu LED will alo flah with 1 long flah followed by a long paue (approximately 8-10 econd). Thermal: If the amplifier heat ink temperature i too high to continue afe operation, it will alo enter protection mode. The ESP/Protection tatu LED will give 3 hort flahe followed by a long paue. Thi cycle will then repeat. Thermal LED: Thi LED light up red if the amplifier overheat. An amplifier enter thermal protection due to condition that might otherwie reult in damage to the amplifier. The thermal protection mode i alo indicated on the ESP/Protection Statu indicator LED by a 3 hort flah equence that repeat every 8-10 econd. Below i a decription of reaon the amplifier could engage the Thermal Circuit. into account when intalling any amplifier. The temperature inide the car where the amplifier i mounted i extremely hot. Thi can occur in extreme climatic condition. It i not uncommon for temperature inide a parked car to reach in exce of 140 F (60 C). If airflow i retricted to the mounting area, the main car cabin may cool down before the ret of the car ha dropped appreciably. Alo, if the amplifier i near the thermal protection temperature point, turning it on and off via the remote line can reult in it entering thermal protection. Amplifier Top Cover (with LED location) Power (green) Thermal (red) ESP/Protection Statu indicator (blue) Speaker load lower than the amplifier minimum 2Ω load will caue the amplifier to draw more current and may reult in overheating. Thi can be avoided by uing peaker or wiring method that reult in a load greater than the amplifier minimum 2Ω load input. Thi may alo reult in the overcurrent protection mode being engaged. The amplifier can alo overheat if it i not receiving proper ventilation, when mounting a amplifier make ure it ha room for air to circulate and keep it cool. Amplifier will get hot becaue they produce energy and care and conideration hould be taken Figure 22 Figura 22 Abbildung 22 NOTE: Pleae note that the top cover plate i deigned to be reverible. The LED color will therefore appear to revere their order relative to the diagram labeling if the cover i revered when reattached, for example; the green LED (power) cloet to the Orion logo in the diagram will be the furthet from the logo with the cover revered.
