2 LAKEFEST LOGO Design Contest This is a contest we get the public involved with to create a design each year and have a panel of judges choose a winning design. The winner receives $250 and their design is the logo for the t-shirts & promotional materials. We will have a special edition one for the 40 th! Evolution of the Lakefest T-shirts

3 Facts The third full weekend of each July brings a tourism & economic boost to Virginia s Only Lakeside Town Clarksville. The Virginia Lake Festival begins with: Free tethered hot-air balloon rides on Thursday evening for children 12 and under On Friday morning, the sand sculpture artists begin creating a larger-thanlife sculpture Around noontime, the main stage and children s entertainment pieces arrive as well as the crowds That evening, the sponsors are introduced and saluted at welcoming ceremonies; a live band hits the stage and performs until 10 pm Saturday begins at daybreak with 14 hot-air balloons flying over downtown Clarksville and over the lake, and our main street Virginia Avenue comes alive with a daylong, juried arts & crafts show featuring 200 vendors, children s games & rides, antique car show, helicopter rides, and more live music Sunset provides another hot-air balloon display and, at 9:30 pm, boats filled with spectators gather on the lake and others line the shorelines to view a spectacular fireworks event On Sunday, the hot-air balloons make one final flight

4 WHAT MAKES THE EVENT SPECIAL OR UNIQUE All activities noted above are open to the public at no charge. In addition to the various food vendors, our community organizations assist our guests in a variety of ways. Nearly everyone in the town (population 1,400) becomes involved with volunteering for the event to insure that our guests have a wonderful and safe weekend. We also provide a shuttle van service (handicapped accessible) to shuttle people from outlying parking areas to the main attractions. Likewise, a train which transports 18 people (including packages & baby strollers) travels up and down Virginia Avenue for those who would prefer to ride than walk. Our rescue, fire and police departments are instrumental in insuring that everyone has a wonderful, but safe time.

5 One of the Top 20 Festivals In The Southeast Voted by the Southeast Tourism Society in 2016 as One of the Top 20 Festivals In The Southeast, LakeFest (as it is known locally) attracted nearly 100,000 visitors in 2014 to view hundreds of attractions including hot air balloons, arts and crafts, live entertainment including music and dancing, great local and ethnic food, and the traditional Gathering Of The Boats and fireworks show!
