1 LOGIC Component Technology VOLTGE SENSOR SENSORS & DETECTORS The Voltage Sensor is a 4-pin sensing and detecting device developed as part of the VIVISUN LOGIC Series. The Voltage Sensor can monitor DC under-volt or over-volt conditions and deliver a discrete output signal. Voltage Sensor can be integrated into a traditional switch housing, creating a LOGIC ody (L), or can be included in a standalone LOGIC Module (LM) for use behind the panel. Voltage Sensor can also be combined with electromechanical switches and other LOGIC Series components to create a custom configuration that uniquely addresses the designer s specific functional requirements. The Voltage Sensor is designed and tested in accordance with MIL-PRF and DO-160. 2 OVERVIEW VOLTGE SENSOR Voltage Sensor The Voltage Sensor can monitor DC under-volt and over-volt conditions and deliver a discrete output signal. The Voltage Sensor has a set point range from 2-50 VDC and can be specified to either; transition to an active low (ground) state from an open (high impedance) state above the specified set point, or transition to an open (high impedance) state from an active low (ground) state above the specified set point. See Figure 2 for additional information. Two VSD1 units can be combined with a LOGIC Series Electronic Latch to create a wide hysteresis voltage sensor with separate pull-in and dropout voltages as shown in Figure 3. enefits: The VIVISUN LOGIC Series Voltage Sensor provides voltage sensing capability within a LOGIC switch body or LOGIC Module. When the set point is crossed the output of the unit will change from open to ground or ground to open depending on the voltage sensor specified. Refer to Figure 1 and Table 1 for lock Diagram and Operating Parameters. Compatibility: The LOGIC Series Voltage Sensor is compatible with a wide range of proven VIVISUN products, including: Indicators, switches and modules, 3/4 LED caps and 1 x 1.2 LR3 LED caps, 95 Series incandescent caps, and the Quik-Connect solderless termination system (See Table 3). Overview: The Voltage Sensor is one of VIVISUN s LOGIC Series electronic components designed to enhance avionics design flexibility. The innovative LOGIC Series includes functionality such as: Switch poles (LOGIC ody only), Electronic switching, Electronic sensing and detecting, and Logic/interface devices. The Voltage Sensor is compatible with either the Compact LOGIC ody (based on a standard 2-pole housing) or High Capacity LOGIC ody (based on a standard 4-pole housing). The LOGIC Module (LM) is a stand alone behind-the-panel module that utilizes the 4-pin Voltage Sensor in 6 distinct combinations of LOGIC components and open spacers to provide functionality external to a standard switch envelope. The LOGIC Module may be wired directly into the harness or may mount in a bracket or rail. 5 PPLICTION EXMPLES VOLTGE SENSOR pplication Examples Example 1 Two 4-pin voltage sensors are used to create a us power indicator with built-in self monitoring to provide both over and under voltage sensing and warning. The Solid State Relay SSR1H is used as an inverter to provide a ground that turns on the MIN US indication whenever Main us power is on. If the Main us voltage is outside of the normal range either the HIGH or LOW legend will illuminate to indicate the warning condition. The first Voltage sensor is set to provide a ground output when the Main us voltage is less than 18 VDC, illuminating the LOW legend. The second Voltage sensor is set to provide a ground output when the Main us voltage is greater than 30 VDC, illuminating the HIGH legend. The battery or other alternate power source allows the Voltage Sensors to operate when Main us power is absent. OPEN Example 2 Example 2: utomatic switchover, back-up battery power control When +28V us power is absent, automatic transition to attery ackup is provided for critical flight indicators. attery power may be forced by latching the alternate action switch. VSD1 is a voltage sensor that can be configured to provide a ground output when the sense input is above or below a specified voltage. In this example a VSD1/26/ provides sensing of +26 V. n output ground to set an Electronic Latch (EL1) is provided to turn on the US indication and pull in the relay connecting us power to the critical systems when the us voltage is above 26 V. When the us voltage drops below 20V the VSD1/20/ sensor will provide a ground to reset the EL1, dropping out the relay, changing critical systems over to battery operation. The outputs of the Electronic Latch indicate which voltage sensor has been activated. The Q output indicated that the sense voltage has exceeded 26 volts but has not dropped below the lower +20V set point. The /Q output indicates that the voltage has fallen below +20V and remains below +26V.
