The basic objective of this system is to allow the blind person to travel over autonomously in wide world.

1 ABSTRACT: Utkarsha Patole, Priya Dahale, Apurva Gosavi Department of electronics and telecommunication engineering Some technology plays a vital role in everyone s life, but some technology has few de-merits, thus there is an efficient solution which is embedded system. System which is been designed, uses GPS and voice navigation system along to navigate the visually impaired people. The basic objective of this system is to allow the blind person to travel over autonomously in wide world. Blind people has very less information about land mark, heading which is critical or decisive for them to travel over the places. This system will encourage the blind people in their day to day life. Navigation system which would use the voice play back module (APR 33A3) in order to provide navigation instruction to user. The obstacle detector will help the user to avoid harmful obstacles by sending voice from the module. The longitude and latitude values are received from the GPS receiver. The operation system includes or two phase; 1 st is location based voice recording phase and 2 nd the navigation of blind people. This system will help blind people to improve the transmission ability and not based on anyone during walking in unknown places. Keywords: GPS, GSM, Heartbeat sensor, Ultrasonic sensor, Voice playback module [1] INTRODUCTION Worldwide, mainly in developing countries there are approximately 38 million blind population and India with the count of over 15 million people. Hence there is need of assistive devices for blind people to deal with daily chores activity independently. Majority of bind population depend on other individuals, White cane, guide dog to travel. Sometimes blind people use their hands to recognize shape, size, temperature, weights and textures of the object but this Utkarsha Patole, Priya Dahale, Apurva Gosavi 1

2 information may not be accurate and sufficient. There are many other systems develop which promises navigation for visually impaired. SWAN (System for Wearable Audio Navigation) which consists of laptops, GPS, sensors tracking camera and headphones which makes the system more bulky and costly. This system requires SWAN application in laptop which compute and track the location for blind person and 3D audio cues are sent through the headphones. The system that is proposed here are designed for updating the user regarding to the current location. The GPS system is used for tracking and the SFR04 ultrasonic sensor is used for obstacles detection and produce the beep signal to avoid the obstacles. The voice playback module is used to provide the instruction to the user. In this system, we use the heartbeat sensor which will send the message signal to the relatives of user in case of accident by measuring pulse rate providing the user a friendly system to used. [1.1] Literature survey [2] METHODOLOGY This system is enable with its main GPS and GSM module. The other components used in the modules are micro phones, speakers for interfacing the circuit with ATMEGA- 32 there is a need of control single for the digital pins of controller. To record message in the IC apply low signal from ATMEGA32 to the record pin of the IC and it will start recording. To keep the pin low for a given amount of time, set the timer in the controller and to stop the recording the pin is made high. for voice playback low signal is given to the message pin.and final signal is given to the speaker for voice output. 4 distance of obstacle in terms of serial data with having baud rate of So we connect output pin of SRF04 to the RXD terminal of microcontroller and we set the baud rate of communication as In this way serial communication between sensor and controller establishes, and it will gives us directly distance in centimeters. The range of this module that is it can detect the obstacle within the range of 3cm to 3m. Also it can detect obstacle within 45 degrees. When the heart beat detector is working, the beat LED flashes in unison with each heartbeat. To measure the Beats Per Minute (BPM) rate the digital output can be connected to microcontroller directly. 6 MR-87 is compact, high performance and low power consumption GPSengine board.mr-87 use MTK MT3301+MT3179 chipset which can track up to 32 satellitesat a time and perform fast TTFFin low signal environments.it is suitable for portable electronic device such a automative navigation devices, handheld navigation devices mobile phones and other GPS application.in this designe we used this module for capturing the longitude and latitude of the location of blind persons.the obtained longitude and latitude is thencompare by the controller in lookup table and the speaker given the location information to blind. [2.5] SIM9000 GSM MODULE The SIM900 is fully Quad-band GSM/GPRSsolution in a SMT module. Featuring an industrystandard interface, the SIM900 dilvers GSM/GPSR 850/900/1800/1900MHz performance for voice,sim,data and Fax in a small from factor and with low power consumption.sim900 can fit almost all the space requirements in your M2M application, specially for compact demand of design,this is a GSM/GPRS compactible Quad-band cell phone,which can be used not only toaccess the internet, but also for oral communication and for SMSs. The GSM in this design is to send the message to the relatives of the blind in case of accident.in accidential case the pulse value of heartbeat sensor will be exceed the threasold value due to this signal will be given to controller and the controller will provide the input to GSMwhich will send the message to relatives. 7 [4] CONCLUSION As we know that India has world s largest populations of visually impaired among the current population of 1.22 billion. Earlier due to lack of inventions canes and guide dogs where used for navigation by the blind peoples. The system proposed replaced the standard method of navigation so that the person can get the accurate information of navigation with proper knowledge of landmarks, obstacles and navigate to the destination safely.
