2 UIO-369 Digital Inputs/Outputs & DAQ board with 5 channels and USB/RS3/Bluetooth/RF connectivity. Welcome to the world of Computer Automation. This Digital Input/Outputs (DIO) Board - UIO-369 is a perfect companion for all your computer automation projects where you require large number of I/Os as well as DAQ capability. UIO-369 can be connected with USB / RS3 serial COM port / Bluetooth / RF to PC, laptop or any Android device.( different models have different connectivity.) It has up to 5 digital & 40 analogue I/Os that will help you to monitor various real world scenarios using switches & different kind of sensors to monitor many parameters like Temperature, Pressure, Light, Touch, PH etc. This card is not only good for monitoring various parameters but a perfect candidate for Data Acquisition & control applications. It appears as a USB CDC ( Communications Device Class) device when connected to USB port of a computer ( for USB based cards). This creates a Virtual Serial (COM) Port, which allows easy communication with the card. Any programming language that supports serial communications ( C, C#, C++, VB, VB.NET, Perl, Java etc) can be used to communicate with UIO-369 very easily. Easy to use commands are available to communicate with UIO-369 which handle various tasks like Controlling Digital Inputs & Outputs and getting analog data etc. The controller provides up to 5 digital input & output pins. It has also got up to 40 analog input pins and up to 35 PWM output pins.all pins will be individually configured as Digital Input or Digital output or Analog input automatically as per input command on the fly. Each Digital pin can support a TTL or Schmitt Trigger Input or a 3.3V output. Each analog pin will convert analog voltage ( Between 0 to 3V) or Higher ( through voltage divider) into 0 bit resolution value. The output can be raw data or converted into voltage. The raw data be converted into required form using conversion formulas. Any kind of sensor wether it is providing digital output or analogue output can be interfaced with UIO-369 and monitored with the help of computer. The ADC channels may or may not be available based on UIO-369 variant. The pin will be Analog input or Digital input/output automatically as per given command. 5/3

6 6 Command Reference -. For Digital Outputs - H00 - Set output of Channel 00 to or H igh. L00 - Set output of Channel 00 to 0 or Low. There are up to 5 digital Output channels on this card so it will be up to H5 or L5.. For Digital Inputs - I00 - Get Input value of Channel 00. I00 - Get Input value of Channel 00. There are up to 5 digital Inputs channels on this card so it will be up to I5. The value of input pins will be ( if it is High - 3 VDC) or 0 ( if it is Low - 0 V DC). The board will respond with 0 or depending upon the value at Pin. 3. For Analog Inputs - A00 - Get ADC value of Analog Channel 00. There 5 groups- A00 to A008, A049 to A056, A00 to A07, A5 to A58, A0 to A09. There are up to 40 Analog channels on this card so it will be up to A09. The resolution is of 0 bits so the input voltage ( 0-3V Dc) will be converted to 0 to 03 Decimal value or direct voltage value. 4. For PWM outputs - XY0 to XY99 - PWM output of channel XY - from 0 to 99 % X can be one of P,Q,R,S,T,U & V while Y can be one of 3,4,5,6,7 So P350 command will provide pwm output of 50% on P3 channel. Likewise T799 will output pwm signal of 99% on T7 channel pin. 4. Miscellaneous Commands - LED - Make on board LED ON. LED0 - Make on board LED OFF. BORD - Information about the board. VERS - Firmware Version Number. HELP - Provides list of commands Please note that all commands are sent in CAPITAL letters only. Model number reference - Model number - UIO R A R - RS3 based U - USB based B - Bluetooth based F - RF based - 50 channels - 0 channels 3-5 channels A - No ADC channels B - 8 ADC channels + 7 PWM channels C - 6 ADC channels + 4 PWM channels D - 4 ADC channels + PWM channels E - 3 ADC channels + 8 PWM channels F - 40 ADC channels + 35 PWM channels For example the board having model number UIO-369-U3B will be USB based board with 5 digital input/output channels & 8 ADC channels + 7 PWM channels. 6/3

7 7 Windows Driver Installations - Download Pl303 Prolific Driver Installer from our download section at http///downloads/. Run it to install the drivers. Now connect UIO-369 card to PC or Laptop and it will be automatically recognized and will be assigned a COM port which can be checked from Device Manager. Once the PC detects the card and assigns the COM port number, you can check it in Device Manager Tab. Note it down. Now you can communicate with the card through assigned COM port. You can use any Serial Communication software like HyperTerminal, PuTTy etc to send commands. For Hyper Terminal, settings are 500, 8, N, as shown below. 7/3

8 8 If you want to see the commands in HyperTerminal window, go to Properties Tab > ASCII Setup and check the Echo box as shown below. By sending HELP command, you get the welcoming message and the commands detail. 8/3

10 0 Using Input channels - Input channels can be used to monitor input conditions of any signal that toggles between 0 and, that is between High & Low. Following is one of the ways to monitor input value - Key inputs. + 3 V DC Resistor Press to on key To Input channel GND Using ADC channels - ADC channels can be used to monitor input voltages of any signal that varies between 0 and 3 V Dc. Following is one of the ways to monitor ADC input value. + 3 V DC + 3 V DC Variable Resistor To Input channel GND Any sensor providing analog output 0-3 V Dc. GND Using Output channels - Output channels can be toggled between & 0, that is bet High & Low. This signal can be used to switch on & off higher voltage loads through use of transistor shown as under - Resistor Led + 5 V + 5/9/ V Dc Relay Diode NPN Transistor Resistor NPN Transistor Resistor 0/3
