Introducing Honeywell Wireless Transmitters Honeywell XYR5000 Wireless Transmitters break down the barriers to monitoring variables in areas where traditional hard-wired transmitters are too costly, difficult, or time-consuming to implement. These instruments are designed for applications with no access to power, that are remote or difficult to access, that require frequent changes in instrumentation schemes, or where manual readings are typically taken. The Honeywell XYR5000 family includes instruments for accurately monitoring gauge pressure, absolute pressure, acoustic signals, and temperature. The line also includes an analog input interface for adding wireless capabilities to 4 20mA and 1 10V devices. The instruments wirelessly transmit their measurements to a base radio connected to a control system or data acquisition device such as a recorder or PC. Each base radio accepts the signals of up to 50 transmitters. The base radio also interfaces with Honeywell s PC-based Wireless Management Toolkit, which offers real-time indication, trending, reporting, and configuration capabilities. The base radio is available with Modbus or 4 20mA analog signal output for flexible communications with your control system. It combines an RF transceiver with the interface to your existing SCADA, DCS, or data acquisition device. The WBR Radio Frequency (RF) transceiver communicates in a digital protocol, using Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS). FHSS ensures data integrity by continually switching the carrier wave over a wide range of frequencies. Each wireless base radio can communicate with up to 50 field units. As part of its diagnostic capability, the wireless base radio can identify and report field unit out of spec conditions, and low battery alarms. Multiple outputs are available. The wireless base radio is easily configured using the local pushbuttons and display. This toolkit is the services management software for the Wireless product family. Services management includes XYR5000 component management (such as configuring the quad analog output modules and field unit threshold settings), process monitoring in real time, and data acquisition. The software can be run on multiple computers at once, so you can view and manage the wireless system from anywhere on your plant network. The computer that connects directly to the base radio network runs in Server mode; other connected computers run as clients. Other than the connection to the base radio, the client and server computers can perform the same configuration, monitoring, and management tasks. The software provides multiple levels of access control (Administrator, Read/Write, and Read-Only). An event log is maintained to track configuration changes. Wireless transmitter data graphs (above) show the current and all past data that is available in the Wireless Transmitter Database. The upper graph is the primary process variable, and the lower graph is the secondary process variable. Graphs can also be specified to show a userselectable data range. The field unit status box shows the time of the last update received from the wireless transmitter. All other information contained within the status box is specific to the time of the previous update. The green OK messages will change to red exclamation points if the respective status reading is in concern, or if either of the process values is above alarm threshold. All process value points are shown in blue if they are below the userselected alarm threshold (indicated by a red line). Any data points exceeding the alarm threshold appear in red. Data graphs can be panned and zoomed via the control buttons located below the graphs. The alarm thresholds refer to alarm setpoints that have been set in the software to warn the user of important changes in the process values. There are four alarm thresholds available for a single process variable unit, and two alarm thresholds available for a dual process variable unit. Alarm thresholds are set through the software configuration menu. The alarms menu lets you select a threshold value and whether above or below this threshold is an alarm. You can also select a time deadband on an alarm threshold, so that once a threshold is exceeded, the system waits a period of time before any alarm is triggered.
