School of Information Engineering, Xiangtan University, Xiangtan , China) Abstract : The feat ures of the two2stage matrix converter topology were analysed, and then t he p ulse2widt h modulation strategy for t he rectifier side and t he space vector p ulse widt h modulation strategy for t he inverter side were deduced. And t he principle of zero current commutation was elaborated. The simulating model of t he two2stage matrix converter was set up under MA TL AB/ SIMUL IN K. In order to investigate the starting2up and running process in AC frequency conver2 sion for asynchronous motor, a lot of simulation researches were carried out. Simulation result s demonstrate that t he inp ut current is sinusoidal inp ut and in p hase wit h t he inp ut voltage and t he major component of outp ut voltage is t he f undamental component, which verify t he correct ness and availability of t he propo sed strategies and excellent performance of the two2stage matrix con2 verter.
