7 1. RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) 6 1. RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) RG-1000e CPS is intended for technicians responsible for configuration of the RG-1000e GATEWAY for remote management of control radio stations. When reading the RG-1000e GATEWAY configuration, RG-1000e CPS defines the gateway type automatically. RG-1000e CPS provides the following features: Access to the RG-1000e GATEWAY configuration (download, read, write) and its modification. Update and recovery of the RG-1000e GATEWAY processor program. Control over remote radio stations via the IP network. RG-1000e CPS is compatible with Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, and Windows 10. Note: RG-1000e CPS R2.2 can be used only with the RG-1000e GATEWAY with firmware version R2.2.

RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) Software installation To install RG-1000e CPS, copy the Program folder from the unpacked distribution kit to your local disk and run the RG-1000e-XVXX.exe file. Copying the program folder does not cause any changes to the operating system settings besides apart from installing the USB port gateway driver.

RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) Connecting the RG-1000e to PC USB port Before connecting the gateway, ensure that the computer and the gateway share a common ground or one of them is disconnected from the ground. If they are connected to different grounding mats, it may cause the USB port damage. When you connect the RG-1000e GATEWAY to the USB port of the computer for the first time, the operating system automatically detects connection of a new device. After that, you will be prompted to install the driver for the detected device. Depending on the version of your operating system, you can install the RG-1000e GATEWAY driver in one of the following ways: By installing the setup driver files from the Driver folder that is located in the home directory of the program. By performing the Update Driver Software procedure via PC Device Manager. After the driver installation, you can modify the RG-1000e GATEWAY configuration using the USB connection to the computer. For installation of the USB driver in the Windows 7/8/8.1/10 operating systems, you must have Windows Administrator rights. For step-by-step instructions on the USB driver installation, see Appendix I.

RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) CPS interface and main features CPS control panels RG-1000e CPS has the following panels: The RG-1000e (Gateway) panel for working with the RG-1000e GATEWAY configuration. The Report panel for displaying program messages. The File panel provides controls for creating, opening and saving configuration files: Create ( ), and Save ( ) or Save as ( ), Open ( ) buttons. You can also perform these actions via the File menu from the main menu of the program. The Tasks panel provides controls for reading and writing the gateway configuration: Read ( buttons. The Download firmware ( ), Write ( ) ) button initiates the RG-1000e GATEWAY firmware update (available in the Service mode only). You can also perform these actions via the Tasks menu from the main menu of the program or via the Tasks menu in the RG-1000e (Gateway) panel. To open the required panel, click Panels on the main menu of the program or right-click any empty area of the main menu and select the corresponding panel name. When load an RG-1000e GATEWAY configuration, the RG-1000e panel opens automatically. You can close the panel by performing one of the following actions: Clicking the Cross button. Сlicking Panels on the main menu. Right-clicking any empty area of the main menu and selecting the required panel name.
11 1. RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) Operation with configuration files RG-1000e CPS provides controls for working with gateway configuration files in the.mcd format. These files contain the the RG-1000e GATEWAY settings configured in the RG-1000e (Gateway) panel. You can perform the following actions with configuration files: Сreate a new configuration file with default settings Open a configuration file Save a configuration file Read configuration from the RG-1000e GATEWAY Write configuration to the RG-1000e GATEWAY To create a configuration file, perform the following actions: 1. Click File > Create, or click Create in the File panel, or press Ctrl+N. 2. In the dialog box asking for confirmation, click Yes. To open a configuration file, perform the following actions: 1. Click File > Open, or click Open in the File panel, or press Ctrl+O together. 2. In the Open window, select the required file and click Open. To save a configuration file, perform the following actions: 1. Click File > Save, or click Save in the File panel, or press Ctrl+S together. At that, will open. 2. In the Save As window, type the file name in the corresponding box and click Save. Alternatively, you can save the configuration file by clicking File > Save as, or by clicking Save as in the File panel. To read a configuration from the RG-1000e GATEWAY, click Tasks > Read, or click Read in the Tasks panel. To write a configuration to the RG-1000e GATEWAY, click Tasks > Write, or click Write in the Tasks panel. Attention! You should reboot the RG-1000e every time you change any of the configuration settings. The configuration changes may not be properly applied until you reboot the RG-1000e. Press the Power button on the front panel of the RG-1000e to turn it off and turn it on after 7-10 seconds.

RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) Gateway panel When you create an RG-1000e GATEWAY configuration file or read configuration from the RG-1000e GATEWAY, an RG-1000e panel appears. Its tree structure contains the device and function settings. The RG-1000e panel provides controls for performing the following actions: Reading/writing configuration files Updating the RG-1000e GATEWAY firmware Modifying the configuration settings Generating statistic reports on the operation of the gateway modules. The panel tree contains the following nodes: Tasks Network Radio1&2 Other Statistics Monitor Info 11
13 1. RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) Network node The Network node contains the following elements: IP channels includes the settings for each of the eight IP channels. Mux includes the settings of the IP channel connection to the RG-1000e GATEWAY interfaces. Driver includes the Ethernet port operation modes. IP channel The IP channel window provides controls for setting the network parameters of the corresponding IP channel. Note: If several IP channels are used, their TCP and UDP port numbers must not be the same. To open the IP Channel window, double-click the name of the desired IP Channel in the RG-1000e panel. You can configure the following settings for each IP channel: In the Mode/protocol of connection boxes you can select the mode and the protocol used by the IP channel. For connection to SmartPTT Radioserver, in the first box the Server option must be selected. In the second
14 1. RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) 13 box the TCP, RTP option must be selected. The Client mode and the M-270/LCP protocol cannot be used for this purpose. The Gateway IP settings area includes the following settings: o IP address, Subnet mask, Gateway: The network parameters. o Port XCMP protocol, : UDP/TCP control command ports in accordance with the connection protocol. o Port RTP streams, : The ports used for transmissions on the current IP channel. They are used for working with the TCP, RTP connection protocol and include the following parameters: - Audio: The port used for transmission of the audio signal from radios to the radioserver and backwards over the RTP streams. - ARS: The port used for transmission of the MOTOTRBO subscribers registration data in the network. - TMS: The port used for transmission of text messages between MOTOTRBO subscribers and the radioserver. - Location: The port used for transmission of requests and responses about the location of MOTOTRBO subscribers (GPS). - Telemetry: The port for transmission of requests and responses about the state of telemetry contacts of MOTOTRBO subscribers (GPS). Note: you can use the same port for XCMP, Audio, ARS, TMS, Location and Telemetry services within one IP channel. In the given example, port is used. Attention! The same ports must not be used by different IP channels. Each IP channel must assigned its unique ports. Remote getaway settings.these settings are not used by SmartPTT Radioserver. - IP address: The address of the remote RG-1000e GATEWAY - XCMP port protocol: The port of the remote RG-1000e GATEWAY. These settings are used when the Radio Interface mode is set to Bridge.
15 1. RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) 14 Mux The Mux window provides controls for distributing IP channels between the RG-1000e GATEWAY interfaces. The IP channels that are not connected to any interface are considered to be disabled and are not used by the RG1000e GATEWAY. The IP channels that are not used by the RG-1000e GATEWAY must be disabled. To open the Mux window, in the RG-1000e panel, double-click Mux. In the given example, the Radio 1 interface is connected to IP channel 1, the Radio 2 interface is connected to IP channel 2. To assign more than one IP channel to the radio interface, select the relevant check boxes. For example, if you select the IP Channel 1 and IP Channel 3 check boxes for Radio 1, two SmartPTT radioservers will be able to communicate with Radio 1 via IP Channel 1 and IP Channel 3.

RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) 15 Driver The Driver window provides controls for managing the following LAN RG-1000e GATEWAY operation modes: Automatic operation mode selection MDI/MDIX: If selected, the check box activates automatic RG-1000e GATEWAY mode selection. Switch MDI/MDIX: The type of the connecting Ethernet cable, straight-through or crossed cable. Auto-Negotiation: If selected, the check box activates automatic adjustment of the data transmission speed and mode. Power control TX (max cable length): The maximum length of the Ethernet cable used for connection of the RG-1000e GATEWAY to SmartPTT Radioserver. Data transmission speed and mode parameters: You can select one of the four options defining the RG-1000e GATEWAY data transmission parameters. To open the Driver window, double-click Driver in the RG-1000e panel. During the Ethernet interface operation, the local network cable side emission may penetrate the receiving antenna of the radio. On some frequencies, it may cause radio interference from the RG-1000e GATEWAY Ethernet interface. To reduce side emissions, you can manage the Ethernet interface transmitter power on the RG-1000e GATEWAY. Power reduction decreases the level of the Ethernet cable emission. However, depending on the network equipment, it may increase the number of errors during the Ethernet packets reception. The compatibility and operational reliability of the network equipment in the partial operation mode must be tested
17 1. RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) 16 individually. It is not recommended that you set the transmitter power for working with a 5-meter cable. If this is absolutely necessary, you will have to control reception and transmission of the Ethernet packets.
18 1. RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) Radio 1&2 nodes The Radio nodes provide controls for setting the interface parameters of the radio connection to the RG-1000e GATEWAY. Radio 1 node is used for managing digital lines and analog inputs/outputs of the RG-1000e GATEWAY RADIO 1 port. Radio 2 node is used for managing digital lines and analog inputs/outputs of the RG-1000e GATEWAY RADIO 2 port. Both nodes contain the following leaves: Settings Audio RX Audio encoder RX Audio TX Audio TxH Audio encoder TX

RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) 18 Settings The Settings window provides controls for setting up the RG-1000e GATEWAY interface lines depending on the type of the control panel or radio model that is connected to it. To open the Settings window, in the RG-1000e panel, under the Radio node, double-click Settings. The RG-1000e may operate in several modes. It can be used as part of the SmartPTT dispatch system or independently (without integration with SmartPTT). The following Radio 1(2) interface modes are available in the Interface mode box: o Disabled: The RG-1000e GATEWAY does not use the interface. o Motorola DM: The mode for working with MOTOTRBO mobile radios. o Radio IO: The mode for working with non-mototrbo mobile radios that use GPIO lines for connection to the RG-1000e GATEWAY. o Bridge: The mode for connecting up to eight RG-1000e GATEWAYs and creating simplest distributed radio networks. The RG-1000e GATEWAY lines are set to operate with various donor radios using GPIO lines for connection with radios. o Transit audio: The mode for connecting up to eight RG-1000e GATEWAYs and creating simplest distributed radio networks for audio streaming. o Motorola GM: The mode is not supported.
20 1. RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) 19 This user guide described configuration of the Radio 1(2) interface for working in Motorola DM and Radio I\O modes only. The following instructions explain how to set the parameters required for correct system operation in each of these modes.

RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) 20 Motorola DM mode If you select the Motorola DM mode in the Interface mode box, two tabs appear in the top part of the window: the Mode tab and the Settings tab. The Mode tab provides the following settings: The connected device type:select DM4000 for High Tier MOTOTRBO donor radios or DM2600 for Middle Tier MOTOTRBO donor radios. Rated level of an output of audio TX: Shows the rated level of the audio signal on the radio microphone input. The box is provided for information purposes only. Getting power from connected devices: If the check box selected, the RG-1000e will be powered via the Radio 1(2)socket, pin 25. It is recommended that you select this check box when working in the Mototrbo DM mode Attention! For more information on available power options and proper hardware installation, see "RG1000e Gateway User Guide" (Chapter 4). On/Off control to external devices: If the check box selected, you can use pin 13 of the Radio 1(2) socket to turn on and off external devices. If the IP connection between SmartPTT radioserver and the RG-1000e GATEWAY is established, the pin 13 voltage is High (12VDC). If the IP connection between SmartPTT radioserver and the RG-1000e GATEWAY is not established, the pin 13 voltage is Low (0VDC). Attention! Do not select both Getting power from connected devices and On\Off control to external devices. As soon as connection between SmartPTT radioserver and the RG-1000e is lost, you will not be able to turn on the connected radio without performing its reconfiguration.
22 1. RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) 21 Sync IP channels: If the check box selected and you work with several radioservers, the commands transmission is synchronized. The commands are transmitted sequentially after receiving the command reception acknowledgment from all remote radios. If at least one of the acknowledgments is not received, the rest of the commands are blocked for the time period set in the The synchronization timer IP channels box. The synchronization timer IP channels, ms: In this box you need to set the time period during which the command reception acknowledgments from all remote radios must be received. After the time expiration, the next command in transmitted automatically. The recommended value is 1500 ms. Loop-back TX microphone audio on IP channels: Provides eight check boxes corresponding to the IP channels used by the RG-1000e. If one or multiple check boxes are selected, the Radio 1 (2) voice traffic will be shared with the selected IP channels. For correct operation of voice sharing, you need to configure the Encoder audio L-b settings. The Settings tab provides controls for configuring the additional gateway interface settings. The following example shows configuration for working in the MOTOTRBO DM mode. Control mode PTT: In the box you can select the control mode. Two options are available: the discrete line or XCMP command transmission via USB. The recommended value is USB interface. Control mode CSQ: The recommended value is USB interface. Keep USB/IP link if Ethernet/IP link is down: RG-1000e with firmware 1.0&1.1 automatically closes the USB\IP link (connection to the control station) if the Ethernet/IP link is down. The RG-1000e with firmware 2.0 and
23 1. RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) 22 later can be set to keep the USB/IP connection regardless of the Ethernet/IP link status. The recommended value is Enable. Radio network services ports: Radio UDP ports used for data transmission by the corresponding services. The port numbers must be the same as the port numbers specified in the MOTOTRBO Customer Programming Software (CPS) and the radioserver settings for the current connection. For instructions, see step 4 in MOTOTRBO radio settings.

RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) 23 Radio IO mode (for SmartPTT 9.3 and later) If you select the Radio IO mode in the Interface mode box, four tabs appear in the top part of the window: the Mode tab, the Settings tab, the Pins tab, and the Channels tab. The following instructions provide the settings applicable to the SmartPTT 9.3 and later versions. The type of connected device: The recommended value is Not defined. Rated level of an output of audio TX: The recommended value is 80 mv. Getting power from connected devices: The recommended value is Disable. On\Off control to external devices: The recommended value is Disable. Sync IP channels: If the check box selected and you work with several radioservers, the commands transmission is synchronized. The commands are transmitted sequentially after receiving the command reception acknowledgment from all remote radios. In this box you can set the criterion based on which the RG-1000e will report qualified incoming activity on the RX path to SmartPTT. The following options are available: o OFF: disabled. o CSQ: based on the CSQ discrete signal from the connected donor radio. o VOX: based on the internal VOX status. o CSQIVOX: based on the CSQ discrete signal from the connected donor radio or the internal VOX status. o CSQ&VOX: based on both CSQ and VOX conditions (both of them must be met). Emulation call SMART PTT: The recommended value is Disable.
26 1. RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) The Pins tab provides controls for configuring the Radio 1(2) pin settings. The recommended pin settings are the following: - pin 3: Output control PTT - pin 17: Input carrier detect (CSQ/COR/PL detect/tg detect), is used on RG-1000e with S/N **250 and prior. - pin 16: Input carrier detect (CSQ/COR/PL detect/tg detect), is used on RG-1000e with S/N **251 and after. - pin 25: 0,0 V. Pins 4, 5, 6, 18 may be used for Channel Select on the control station (provided it supports channel selection using the accessory connector GPIO lines). The Channels tab settings are not used for performing the SmartPTT operations and do not require any modifications. 25

For using SmartPTT 9.2 and earlier versions with non-mototrbo control stations, you must turn on and configure the Emulation Call SmartPTT feature in the RG-1000e settings. Emulation call SMART PTT:The recommended value is Group. Donor Radio ID: The desirable ID of the virtual control station. Attention! Donor Radio ID must be the same as Remote control Station Radio ID in the SmartPTT Radioserver settings. Subscriber Radio ID: The desirable ID of the virtual radio that is used as the Caller ID for incoming calls in SmartPTT Dispatcher. Group ID: The desirable ID of the virtual talkgroup. Attention! Group ID must be the same as Group ID in the SmartPTT Radioserver settings. Note! The PTT button for the specified Talkgroup ID must be used for making outgoing calls from SmartPTT Dispatcher (using the RG-1000e with a connected non-mototrbo radio).

31 1. RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) The Pins tab provides controls for configuring the Radio 1(2) pin settings. The recommended pin settings are the following: - pin 3: Output control PTT - pin 17: Input carrier detect (CSQ/COR/PL detect/tg detect), is used on RG-1000e with S/N **250 and prior. - pin 16: Input carrier detect (CSQ/COR/PL detect/tg detect), is used on RG-1000e with S/N **251 and after. - pin 25: 0,0 V. 32 1. RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) 31 Audio RX The Audio RX provides controls for setting up the RG-1000e GATEWAY analog inputs. To open the Audio RX window, in the RG-1000e panel, under the Radio node, double-click Audio RX. The Audio RX window contains the following areas: Input 1: A line balanced/unbalanced input that is connected to the radio Rx Audio output. You can activate it by selecting the On check box. The recommended attenuation value is 0 db. The Diff. input check box - selected. You can activate it by selecting the On check box. Rated input signal level without gain is 330 mv (unbalanced mode). The recommended Gain value is 9 db. The input overload can be controlled using the input signal meter. You can access it in the Monitor > Audio input section of the corresponding interface.

RG-1000e Customer Programming Software (RG-1000e CPS) 32 Audio encoder RX The Audio encoder RX window provides controls for setting up the input audio signal encryption (for Radio 1 and Radio 2 independently). To open the Audio encoder RX window, in the RG-1000e panel, under the Radio node, double-click Audio encoder RX. The following settings can be configured: The encoding mode: o Mu-Law / A-Law 64 k bps: The audio processing in accordance with the G.711 standard. The recommended option is Mu-Law 64 kbps. Duration audio package: The total duration of audio data in the generated packet. The recommended value is 20 ms. Control: The following audio streaming options are available: o Disable: The CSQ and VOX check boxes are not selected. The RG-1000e continuously streams audio to the IP network. o CSQ: The recommended option. Only the CSQ check box is selected. In this mode, the RG-1000e streams audio to the IP network only when it receives the CSQ signal from the connected radio. It is used for reducing the IP traffic. If you select the CSQ signal processing, you need to configure the following settings: - If the Radio 1(2) port works in the MOTOTRBO DM mode, on the Settings tab, in the Control Mode CSQ box, select the USB interface option.

Connect this pin to the corresponding pin on the accessory connector of the connected control station. o VOX: Only the CSQ check box is selected. In this mode, the RG-1000e streams audio to the IP network only when the RG-1000e internal VOX trigger is activated. The RG-1000e internal VOX can be used if the RG-1000e is pre-programmed to interact with a non-mototrbo control station that does not have the CSQ/PL Detect/TG Detecton signal output on the accessory connector. Note! The RG-1000e internal VOX can not be used if the incoming audio signal is received directly from the FM demodulator. Only squelched audio signals can be properly received. The RG-1000e internal VOX can work with the audio signals received sourced from the radio speaker <+> and <-> signal lines. It is strongly recommended that you fix the volume of the radio speaker using suitable programming software. Detector of signal level, VOX: Turns on and off the RG1000e internal VOX. VOX status for signal detector: If enabled, the internal VOX status are used as the pseudo CSQ signal status (see corresponding settings for I\O mode: Radio 1(2) settings - Setting, CH Activity signal source) Signal level ON: The threshold audio level on exceeding which the audio signals are treated as qualified incoming activity by the RG-1000e. Detect time: The minimum duration of the qualified incoming audio signal after which the internal VOX trigger turns on. Signal level OFF: The threshold audio level below which the audio signals are treated as absence of qualified incoming activity by the RG-1000e. Release time: The maximum duration of the qualified incoming audio signal absence after which the internal VOX trigger turns off. Note! The recommended Signal level ON / Signal level OFF ratio is 3:1. Note! The recommended Release time minimum value is 500 ms. They are applied only when third-party devices are connected to the RG-1000e GATEWAY. To open the Recorder window, in the RG-1000e panel, under the Other node, double-click Recorder. It must be the same as the corresponding value in the IP Address box in the settings of the gateway IP channel assigned to this remote control station. XCMP port: The gateway port. It must be the same as the corresponding value in the Port XCMP protocol box in the settings of the gateway IP channel assigned to this remote control station. Local interface: The local interface used for the RG-1000e GATEWAY connection. Radio ID: Unique identifier of the remote control station. The Radio ID value must be set within the range of 1 to CAI Network: CAI network identifier. The CAI Network value must be set within the range of 1 to 126. The recommended value is 12 (set by default). CAI Network for Groups: CAI group network identifier. The CAI Network for Groups value must be set within the range of 225 to 239. The recommended value is 225 (set by default). Transmit Data Only: Select the check box to use the remote control station for data transmit only. If the check box is selected, the control station is not displayed in SmartPTT Dispatcher and is not available for voice calls. Allow Telephone Interconnect: Select the check box to make voice calls to telephone subscribers available. GPS: Select the check box to turn on the location service that provides coordinates of the subscribers whose radios are equipped with a built-in GPS receiver. ARS: Select the check box to turn on the registration service that provides information on the subscribers presence in the network. By default, port 4005 is used. TMS: Select the check box to turn on the service for exchanging text messages between dispatchers and radio subscribers. By default, port 4007 is used. Telemetry Service: Select the check box to turn on the service for transmitting and processing telemetry signals between SmartPTT Dispatcher and subscriber radios. By default, port 4008 is used. Analog Call Hangtime: The period of time after an analog transmission termination on the channel. This hangtime is virtual. It is used for uniting multiple analog calls into one to avoid the event log overload. During this hangtime, the channel is not reserved and can be used for transmissions. This option can be used only if the remote control station is configured to operate in the analog mode. GPS Transmission Mode: Select the location updates transmission mode: as a data packet in multiple bursts (the Data option) or as a single CSBK (Control Signaling Block) (the CSBK and the Enhanced CSBK options). The recommended option is Data. Set local ports: Select the check box to set the local ports that will be used by the RG-1000e GATEWAY services if the default ports are busy. The local ports are defined automatically, but you can set them manually for each service after selecting the Set local ports check box. 4. To make remote switching between the control station channels available, in the left pane, under the Control Stations node, click the name of the desired remote control station. Under the expanded node, click Channels. In the right pane, in the Control Station Channels window, ensure that the settings match the radio settings in the MOTOTRBO CPS.

Zone: Sequential number of the channel group. Channel: Sequential number of the channel. : Selection status. The Control Station Talkgroups window contains the Talkgroups table with the following columns Name: Name of the talkgroup that is displayed in SmartPTT Dispatcher. ID: Unique identifier of the talkgroup that is used for transmission initiation. The ID value must be set within the range of 1 to You can manage the table entries in the Control Station Channels window using the controls located above the table. The following controls are available: Copy: Copies all talkgroups (their names and IDs) from the table to the clipboard. Paste: Pastes the copied talkgroups from the clipboard. In the left pane, right-click the Control Stations node. 2. From the shortcut menu, select Add > Remote MOTOTRBO Station.

Clear the check box to exclude it from the connection list. Name: Custom name of the remote control station displayed in SmartPTT Dispatcher.

It must be the same as the corresponding value in the IP Address box in the settings of the gateway IP channel assigned to this remote control station. XCMP port: The gateway port. Local interface: The local interface used for the RG-1000e GATEWAY connection. Radio ID: Unique identifier of the remote control station. It must be the same as Donor Radio ID in the RG1000e GATEWAY radio settings. CAI Network: CAI network identifier. The recommended value is 12 (set by default). CAI Network for Groups: CAI group network identifier. The recommended value is 225 (set by default). Do not select the Transmit Data Only, Allow Telephone Interconnect, GPS, ARS, TMS, Telemetry Service, and Set local ports check boxes.
