3 GREETINGS TRP2016 was a large success thanks to the help of the many companies, organizations, government entities, embassies, and other supporters. Over the 2-days of the Parade and Festa, TRP2016 saw a record turnout of over 70,000 people! We are truly thankful for the participation and support of everyone in making this happen. Since the start of the LGBT Boom in 2015, LGBT issues have seen increased prominence across all forms of media, ranging from TV and magazines to newspapers and the internet. Many companies and local governments have also started to create and engage with policies regarding LGBT issues. While this is an undeniably welcome development, awareness and knowledge regarding LGBT issues remains lacking, and little has been done to address issues through the type of legal reform which we have seen in North America and Europe. Yet Tokyo is now gearing up to host the Olympics in four years. The Olympic Charter now banning discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is just one indication of the global focus and awareness of LGBT rights. Combined with the increased excitement generated by the Olympics, TRP is sure to experience an ever growing number of participants as 2020 approaches. We see TRP2017 as the first step towards 2020 and as the opportunity to build an even stronger foundation for success. More than ever, we are counting on the help of our many supporters to make this another amazing year.
