8 ARCOS The high art of restraint ARCOS presents itself in a minimalist design with clear forms and contours: a purist cylindrical body combined with a discreet cubic insert for the control gear depending on size and lamp used. The overall appearance is completed by the new adaptor s minimalist design, which consistently continues right up to the track. Nothing should distract from an exhibit on the contrary: architecture and light should underline the effect of exhibits. Four different ARCOS spotlight sizes are available with advanced lighting technology and a wide variety of accessories. What they all have in common is a restrained appearance, leading to a consequently calm ceiling appearance. 13 All innovations at a glance 13 ARCOS LED Three new LED spotlights provide perfect conservational lighting. The size ARCOS LED Stable White spotlight with 1/30 W lens module is an efficient solution with a high colour rendition index (RA > 90 at 3000 K) for illuminating objects that are sensitive to UV/IR radiation. Where variable shades of white with a high colour rendition index are required, size 3 ARCOS LED Tuneable White is the perfect choice. For coloured lighting scenes with RGB light, ARCOS LED Tempura is available, also in size 3. All spotlights can be dimmed via DALI or directly on the luminaire. ARCOS in compact size Today, better illumination of light is no longer a question of spotlight dimensions. ARCOS can be fitted with high-efficiency HIT lamps as well. Thus, the spotlight remains in the background even in rooms with lower ceiling heights, directing the eyes of the beholder exclusively to the exhibits. ARCOS linear wallwasher Perfectly uniform illumination of large wall surfaces can be achieved with the new linear wallwashers. Depending on the wall surface or application, four different sizes are available with a variety of lamps to be fitted.

14 The high-precision lighting tool for every lighting task Superspot (~8 ) The Superspot is used for accentuation of even the smallest details. Spot (~15 ) The Spot emphasises single picture or object areas. Flood (~5 ) For the illumination of mid-sized objects often in combination with Spots. No matter which of the four sizes of ARCOS you choose, every spotlight boasts it s own unique features. What is especially important in museums and exhibitions is glare-free lighting. First of all, the spotlight design boasts a built-in anti-glare panel. If required, a cruciform louvre attachment or lamp tube a black metal ring can be integrated into the reflector, preventing a direct view of the lamp. However different the lighting tasks may be, ARCOS provides the best solution: just look at the comprehensive range of optics available for a variety of modulations and poolings of light. Projection Thanks to the framing spotlight s lens system with adjustable focus, objects and pictures can be illuminated with sharp outlines.

Also used for backlighting. If a sharply outlined, focusable light point is required, the Projection spotlight is the right choice. Wall surfaces or larger pictures can be uniformly illuminated by wallwashers fitted with lens attachments. Large wall surfaces are lit brightly and uniformly by the new linear wallwashers. Lamp focus adjustment The focal point of the light source can be precisely adjusted with an allen key. This compensates for tolerances of the lamp. Dimmability All ARCOS halogen versions can be dimmed directly via the control panel. Connection via DALI is of course also being provided. Glare control The black anti-glare shield reduces glare from the lamp and also minimises the stray of light. Used with Spot and Superspot reflectors.

16 Intelligent accessories for perfect presentations ARCOS acessories How can the message or form of an exhibit be presented in an ideal way? The finest nuances of materials and colours are often critical for the right effect. ARCOS offers a wide range of possibilities to perfectly solve any type of lighting requirement in just a few steps. A total of three different attachment rings are available, including a wallwasher attachment. The rotating accessory holder is integrated in both the short and long attachment ring. This holder can easily be removed and equipped with up to three different filters or lenses. With the automatic locking device and encoding of the lenses, the exact position of accessories is maintained even after relamping or replacement of reflectors. Lighting scenes are thus staged intuitively and simply ARCOS effortlessly conforms to the creative ideas of the user. Short attachment ring for up to three filters or lenses Standard version for applications requiring no more than two or three accessories. Long attachment ring with cross louvre for up to four filters or lenses In addition to glare control through the cross louvre, this version permits a large variety of possibilities for accessories. Wallwasher attachment For homogeneous, wide-area wall illumination. It features a special lens and a flood reflector insert. In addition, a further filter can be applied. All versions shown above are available as complete spotlights.

17 17 Oval lens In combination with a Spot reflector, an oval, soft light cone is created that can be rotated with the accessory holder and, hence, can be matched to the exhibit. Soft outline lens If lighting contrasts are to be reduced, the soft outline lens is used. In the example above, one of the effects is that the shadow below the picture frame is made softer. Conversion filter K This filter neutralises for example an excessively warm colour temperature created by the dimming process. An alternative is dimming with a special dimming filter. IR/UVA blocking filter Priceless paintings and objects must be protected from UV and IR light rays. This filter efficiently prevents ultraviolet and infrared radiation. Dimming filter Where a smaller quantity of light is required than the spotlight provides, a dimming filter can be applied. In contrast to electronic dimming, the colour temperature will always remain the same. Interference colour filters Blue, yellow, green and red filters are available for special colour accenting and effects. Barn doors These effectively and flexibly reduce undesired stray light outside of the illuminated object. Cross louvre Especially efficient glare control is achieved with the cross louvre in combination with the long attachment ring. Up to four further filters or lenses can be attached.

18 ARCOS LED Efficient conservational lighting ARCOS LED spotlights Where delicate exhibits require conservational lighting with a high colour rendition index (up to RA > 90 at 3000 K), ARCOS LED spotlights are the perfect solution. On the one hand, they emit almost no IR/UV radiation, on the other hand, they are energy-efficient and therefore also economically efficient. With a service life of 50,000 hours, ARCOS LED spotlights go easy not only on the exhibits, but also on operating costs. Dimming can also be achieved directly on the spotlight and does not result in any colour shifts. ARCOS LED Stable White The most compact LED spotlight is ARCOS LED Stable White, which is based on design size. Due to its secondary lens optic, it provides uniform light distribution with an excellent light output ratio. The available colour temperatures are warm white (3000 K) and intermediate white (400 K). Thanks to alternative fittings, the two Spot (1 W) and Flood (30 W) radiation angles and an optional oval outline lens, the luminaire masters all major lighting tasks.

19 19 ARCOS LED Tuneable White This size 3 spotlight combines a high colour rendition index (RA > 80 at 3000 K) with utmost flexibility for white colour temperatures, which can range from 700 K to 400 K and can be adjusted directly on the spotlight, enabling highly differentiated accent lighting. Subtle shades can be produced easily, with optimised quality of perception. Depending on the lighting task, two facetted reflector optics are available: Spot and Flood. The luminaire is controlled either via DALI or directly at the spotlight. ARCOS LED Tempura On the outside, this spotlight is identical in design with the ARCOS LED Tuneable White. The difference is in the LED technology. The RGB LED module allows the configuration of lighting scenes in dynamic colours and variably adjustable colour temperatures (white shades ranging from 700 K to 6500 K). This goes to show once more how ARCOS is able to meet the most diverse requirements to utmost perfection in a consistent design.

20 ARCOS wallwashers Clear and straight lines ARCOS linear wallwashers The linear ARCOS wallwashers are an important tool for lighting in museums. They allow uniform and efficient illumination of large surfaces or objects, resulting in maximum objectivity, transparency and effect of exhibits and exhibition rooms. The wallwashers minimalist design is geared to linear architecture. Thanks to four different sizes ranging from 18 to 10 cm for a variety of applications and room dimensions, ARCOS wallwashers allow lighting designers utmost flexibility. In addition, there are alternative fitting options such as the HIT model, which is also ideal for retail spaces because of its lighting intensity and brilliant colours. Especially worth mentioning is the elaborately devised no-tool relamping procedure for all models, thereby reducing maintenance efforts to a minimum.

22 Innovative adapter As unobtrusive as the spotlight itself Adaptor With the introduction of the new adapter, ARCOS comes up with another milestone. This connector is the smallest and most unobtrusive in design that is available on the market today. Since the designers managed to relocate the mechanism to the track level, what is visible of the adaptor is its very flat design, emphasising the ARCOS spotlight system s linear and unobtrusive structure which consistently continues right up to the track. This adaptor concept will also be the basis for all future spotlight systems by Zumtobel. As it is minimalist in design and dimensions, as impressive and intuitive is the adapter in terms of control. By using a bilateral parallel locking mechanism situated close to the bracket axis, an extremely high level of stability is obtained. The high-precision mechanism of the movable parts is remarkable as well. For instance, the phase is now easily selected via a convenient rotary switch, which can also be used during operation. Another innovation is the implementation of the DALI standard into the 3-phase track. Thus, digital lighting control can be effected via an already existing track. 24 Simple and secure handling for routine exhibition work In addition to the many technical possibilities of a spotlight system, one feature is of particular importance for exhibition work: easy, quick and safe handling. Only when the whole range of activities including relamping, replacement of accessories and precise adjustment can be carried out effortlessly and reliably is a spotlight system really tried and tested. When the right spotlight position has been found, ARCOS remembers the setting. Both the pivoting and rotating position can be fi xed with two allen keys. Even adjustment of the accessories is automatically fi xed with a concealed spring clip, as soon as, the attachment ring for relamping or replacement of refl ectors is removed. Fixing of spotlight alignment using allen key With an allen key the spotlight can be securely locked to protect against unintentional misalignment.

25 5 Releasing the bayonet catch For replacement of lamps and reflectors, the attachment ring is simply removed via the bayonet catch. The lamp can then be removed from the spotlight housing without having to touch the sensitive reflector. Direct access to the reflector The reflector is fixed in the rear of the attachment ring via a spring catch. It can be simply unlocked and removed. All components benefit from optimum protection due to the structural separation of reflector and lamp. Quick attachment of filters and lenses via removable accessory holder Filter and lens replacement has never been so easy: just remove the accessory holder and insert up to three or four accessories. Then lock the holder back into its position on the attachment ring and the job's done. Cool Touch thanks to perfect thermal management ARCOS can be handled and positioned at all times. Sophisticated air circulation prevents unpleasant heating up of the housing. This allows not only particularly easy and convenient usage of ARCOS, but also protects lamp and control gear electronics from premature wear. Encoded, self-locking accessory holder secures precise lens position In order to safeguard that the position of accessories is not altered during maintenance work, lenses are encoded and the accessory holder in the attachment ring is automatically fixed via a concealed spring mechanism.

27 7 The new product label indicating a high-quality rating in terms of criteria relevant to consumption. eco + is a holistic product label evaluating all system components involved and the lighting quality of a luminaire. eco + falls below the levels specified by existing energy directives by as much as 0 %. 1 3 FILTER 1 Energy efficiency Energy efficiency evaluates a luminaire s performance in terms of economic efficiency. It takes into account both the light output ratio and the efficiency of lamps and ballasts. Factors such as dimmability of a luminaire system have a positive impact on efficiency. FILTER Environmental relevance Environmental relevance is an evaluation criterion for luminaire details that are relevant to manufacture. Luminaires must be provided with halogen-free wiring and emergency luminaires must be fitted with cadmium-free batteries to obtain the eco + label. FILTER 3 Application quality Focussing on consumption levels alone does not consider a luminaire s lighting quality to a sufficient extent. For this reason, minimum glare control levels have been defined for eco + (depending on the area of application).
