3 A milestone for Computer To Plate Like all platesetters, basysprint s UV-Setters are used for digital imaging of offset printing plates. However, they are different than other CTP systems: They work with conventional printing plates (computer to conventional plate). This makes it very easy for printing companies to enter the digital world. With the UV-Setter by basysprint, you can take advantage of all of the benefits of CTP, plus you can continue to use the printing plates with which you have produced quality work for many years plates with characteristics and process stability that you are familiar with. This means that you can choose just about any of the conventional offset printing plates on the market. Conventional offset printing plates cost substantially less than special CTP plates (approx. 60 to 80 % less) and they are available all over the world. The high yield of the chemicals reduces disposal costs to a minimum. Negative conventional offset printing plates are imaged particularly fast with the UV-Setter 1116 f2, because only the elements on the plate to be printed are imaged. It takes the basysprint UV-Setter to make CTP truly economical CTP is known for eliminating processing steps and the related expenses: creation of film and imaging on the plate. This advantage is lost in processes based on laser technology because of the high cost of materials (printing plate, chemicals, disposal). With CTcP it s different: You use your inexpensive conventional plates and the existing processor; the cost of disposal remains low. Existing film processors and contact frames are available for backup. After all, the printing plates to be processed are identical. An added bonus is the minimal operating cost of the UV-Setter. Complete solutions... basysprint SWiNG, powered by DALiM Software GmbH, is a workflow tool based on Linux that is especially designed for offset production. The workflow automatically processes large quantities of data to create an error-free PDF or Postscript file that cannot be misinterpreted. Incoming files PDF, EPS, DCS or Postscript are analyzed and normalized according to pre-determined parameters. For this procedure the workflow system uses a hot folder structure in which the desired properties are defined and implemented. The user can define specific process sequences for product groups e. g. magazines, catalogs or special customer orders after which they will be processed automatically. Trapping with preview is also integrated into this system an advantage to the user, as this step no longer needs to occur during subsequent RIPping. basys- Print SWiNG is created in cooperation with DALiM Software GmbH. Macintosh Workstations The RIP system created with Xitron technology is called basysprint Navigator. It is based on the RIP technology of Harlequin ScriptWorks which is known as one of the fastest and most flexible on the market. The RIP can be operated on Windows as well as Macintosh platforms. With the integrated precision screening technology of the RIP, the quantity of gray levels desired (max. 4096) can be achieved even at low resolutions in conjunction with high screen rulings. The RIP supports PS-Level 1-3, JPEG, DCS 2, EPS, TIFF 6, PDF and, optionally TIFF/IT-P1, as well as other formats. 7 Processors: basysprint Interplater basysprint, in cooperation with Glunz & Jensen, offers processors to develop all plate sizes. One of the many advantages of the Interplater is the transport system, which guides the plates precisely into the developer, preventing scratches on the plate. The closed dip-tank system minimizes chemical consumption and oxidation. The accurate replenishment is controlled automatically based on the surface area of printing plates developed. The cleaning program for the gum section is also automatic. Rollers, brushes and spray tubes can be easily removed without the use of tools. The units are very user-friendly. AutoProof and AutoCIP The two software functions AutoProof and AutoCIP round off the work flow configuration. AutoProof creates form proofs that save the additional RIPping. The software AutoCIP is used to generate CIP data in PPF format. With the fully automatic version up to 500 plates located in 3 5 different magazines can be automatically loaded onto the flatbed of the UV-Setter After exposure the unloader transports the plate directly to the processor. The UV-Setter flat bed system enables imaging of many plate sizes, from the smallest format up to 1,430 x 2,100 mm (56.29" x 82.69"). Depending on the size, several plates can be processed simultaneously (e.g. two 3b plates, 700 x 1000 mm or 30" x 40" each). Another benefit of the flat bed system is that the pin bars can be exchanged easily for different registration systems.
