IN EACH SECTION the following Medals and Ribbons will be awarded: FIAP PSA RPS Gold, Silver, Bronze, 6 x Honourable Mention Ribbons Gold, Silver, Bronze, 6 x Honourable Mention Ribbons Gold, Silver, Bronze, 6 x Honourable Mention Ribbons OVER 130 AWARDS A FIAP Blue Badge for "Best Author" will be awarded to the person gaining the most acceptances in the exhibition. There will also be a special award for the best CCC entry in each section. However, an entry may be rejected if Cheltenham Camera Club, in its reasonable discretion, believes the entry does not conform to exhibition rules and conditions. Further, the organisers may refuse to accept an entry/image at their discretion and assume no liability for any misuse by anyone of copyright of published images. Images must be in digital format and must be submitted on-line via the Cheltenham Camera Club website via the link to the CISP Entry Form. The Salon will run under FIAP, PSA and RPS rules. See Section Definitions below. Accepted entries will be eligible for FIAP Awards and PSA s Who s Who and Star Rating. Every entrant will receive a free copy of the catalogue. The organisers may refuse to accept an entry/image at their discretion and assume no liability for any misuse by anyone of copyright of published images.

4 If a fee has not been received the images will not be judged. The entrants' four images will be distributed throughout the four rounds of judging. Accepted images or similar from previous Cheltenham Salons cannot be entered in any of the sections of the Salon. Notification of results will only be sent via . A representative selection of Accepted images will be projected at public showings. Cheltenham Camera Club members are not eligible to be awarded FIAP, PSA, RPS and UPI medals, but can be awarded FIAP, PSA, RPS, UPI and CCC Ribbons and CCC section medals. Image Information n Images should be submitted in JPEG format using srgb colour space. The maximum dimensions including any borders are: 1400 pixels (horizontal width) and 1050 pixels (vertical height). Images smaller than 1400 x 1050 pixels are acceptable but will appear smaller when projected. Images larger than the specifications will be rejected. The image file may not be larger than 5MB. Each image must have a title and the title (and the image itself) must not contain the name of the photographer. The title cannot be No title or Untitled or consist only of the camera capture filename. Please make sure you enter suitable titles for your images especially in the Nature Section. 5 Section Definition s All Images entered MUST comply with the PSA, FIAP and RPS Definitions below. Images failing to do so will not be judged. All entries shall conform to the stricter of these definitions for acceptances to be validated by all the International Organizations granting recognition or patronage. Open Colour (Salon Section A) Any image that satisfies the general rules may be submitted in the Open section. Images that depict nature or travel themes, or are in monochrome, and are submitted in this section will be judged solely on their pictorial merit. Images that have been manipulated extensively should be submitted in the Experimental section. Monochrome FIAP (Salon Section B) A black and white work fitting from the very dark grey (black) to the very clear grey (white) is a monochrome work with the various shades of grey. A black and white work toned entirely in a single colour will remain a monochrome work able to stand in the black and white category. A black and white work modified by a partial toning or by the addition of one colour becomes a colour work (polychrome) to stand in the colour category. Monochrome PSA (Salon Section B) A monochrome image is defined as having varying shades of no more than one colour (various shades of that colour from very light to very dark) but it may be any single colour. Multi-toned images (various shades of two or more colours) and greyscale images with an added accent colour are not acceptable in Monochrome Class sections and must be entered in Colour Class sections. Experimental/Creative (Salon Section C) This category means different things to different people and therein lies the appeal for photographers who like to think outside the box. For the purpose of this Salon, there are other labels which cover this genre which include Abstract, Altered Reality, Contemporary, Creative, Surreal. The common thread is that this embraces a very diverse category of images made using an assortment of techniques and with equally varied intentions. All components of the image (which may include computer graphics) must have been created by the entrant (the inclusion of stock images is not permitted), and the photographic content should predominate. Nature (Salon Section D) (New joint PSA, FIAP and RPS Nature Photography Definition - 1 January 2016) Images entered in the Nature Section MUST comply with the following PSA, FIAP and RPS definitions. Images failing to do so will not be judged. Your entry in the Nature section will not be eligible for the Wildlife medal, unless you certify in the box provided when you upload your images that it is "An authentic Wildlife image. Nature photography is restricted to the use of the photographic process to depict all branches of natural history, except anthropology and archaeology, in such a fashion that a wellinformed person will be able to identify the subject material and to certify its honest presentation. The story telling value of a photograph must be weighed more than the pictorial quality while maintaining high technical quality. Human elements shall not be present, except

6 where those human elements are integral parts of the nature story such as nature subjects, like barn owls or storks, adapted to an environment modified by humans, or where those human elements are in situations depicting natural forces, like hurricanes or tidal waves. Scientific bands, scientific tags or radio collars on wild animals are permissible. Photographs of human created hybrid plants, cultivated plants, feral animals, domestic animals, or mounted specimens are ineligible, as is any form of manipulation that alters the truth of the photographic statement. No techniques that add, relocate, replace, or remove pictorial elements except by cropping are permitted. Techniques that enhance the presentation of the photograph without changing the nature story or the pictorial content, or without altering the content of the original scene, are permitted including HDR, focus stacking and dodging/burning. Techniques that remove elements added by the camera, such as dust spots, digital noise, and film scratches, are allowed. Stitched images are not permitted. All allowed adjustments must appear natural to the viewer. Color images can be converted to greyscale monochrome. Infrared images, either direct-captures or derivations, are not allowed. Images used in Nature Photography competitions may be divided in two classes: Nature and Wildlife. Images entered in NATURE sections meeting the Nature Photography Definition above can have landscapes, geologic formations, weather phenomena, and extant organisms as the primary subject matter. This includes images taken with the subjects in controlled conditions, such as zoos, game farms, botanical gardens, aquariums and any enclosure where the subjects are totally dependent on man for food. Images entered in WILDLIFE sections meeting the Nature Photography Definition above are further defined as one or more extant zoological or botanical organisms free and unrestrained in a natural or adopted habitat. Landscapes, geologic formations, photographs of zoo or game farm animals, or of any extant zoological or botanical species taken under controlled conditions ARE NOT ELIGIBLE in Wildlife sections. Wildlife is not limited to animals, birds or insects. Marine subjects and botanical subjects (including fungi and algae) taken in the wild ARE SUITABLE WILDLIFE SUBJECTS, as are carcasses of extant species. Wildlife images may be entered in Nature Sections of International Exhibitions. Travel PSA (Salon Section E) A Photo Travel image must express the feeling of a time and place, and portray a land, its distinctive features or culture in its natural state. There are no geographical limitations. Close up pictures of people or objects must include distinguishable environment. Techniques that add to, relocate, replace or remove any element of the original image, except by cropping, are not permitted. All adjustments must appear natural. Conversion to full monochrome is acceptable. Derivations, including infrared, are unacceptable Additional rules Compliance: The CISP committee may reject any entry/image at their discretion. An entry may be rejected if it does not conform to published Salon rules and definitions or is deemed unsuitable. In order to ensure that images comply with the rules and definitions, the organisers will carry out checks on a random selection of images to make sure that: 1. The images are the original work of the entrant 2. The images comply with the rules and definitions as set out above. This may involve the entrant being asked to provide the original image(s). In the event of any submitted image being found to contravene the above rules and definitions, or not to be wholly the work of the entrant, that entrant s complete entry will be

7 disqualified and the entry fee forfeited. An entrant failing to provide a requested image file may, at the organisers discretion, be considered to be in convention of the above rules and will also be disqualified and the entry fee forfeited. IMPORTANT: By the sole act of submitting his/her images or files to a salon under FIAP Patronage, the entrant accepts without exception and with no objection the following terms: - that the submitted images can be investigated by FIAP to establish if these obey to FIAP regulations and definitions even if the entrant is not a member of FIAP, - that FIAP will use any means at its disposal for this undertaking, - that any refusal to cooperate with FIAP or any refusal to submit the original files as captured by the camera, or failure to provide sufficient evidence, will be sanctioned by FIAP, - that in case of sanctions following the non compliance with FIAP regulations, the name of the entrant will be released in any form useful to inform the breaches of the rules.
