DEMO EQUIPMENT METHOD PAGE 3 OF 11 Regulation factor: 512 Lamp ON Maximum temperature: 60 C
DEMO EQUIPMENT METHOD PAGE 4 OF 11 Select the language (flag option). Select the component to be measured (ie: H 2 O - delete the other components such as fat). Rename your application DEMO with the name of the customer (ie: KRAFT - maximum of 10 letters with no spacing). Update the IRP time. SAMPLING & CALIBRATION YOU MUST START THE DEMO WITH CLEAN APPLICATION IRP SOFTWARE IN YOUR PC A calibration is a set of numbers that converts the signal from the detector into a predicted value. The first step is to place the sample in the viewing area and press the start button. This will begin the processing and the lamp will be turned on. This is the point at which the instrument is performing a measurement or rather producing and collecting optical data. Each time after the filter wheel indexes, a new filter is being moved into the light path. The detector will make a measurement for each filter. SAMPLING Open the Menu File. The primary need of the sampling process is time. Sufficient time is required to collect samples with a wide range of parameter values and a wide range of manufacturing differences in order to establish an accurate calibration curve.
DEMO EQUIPMENT METHOD PAGE 5 OF 11 Activate the sampling procedure. Green lights will flash on the sensor head and the menu screen Press and HOLD the pushbutton - red color LED when active. The values of the sample will appear in the table after each sampling (date - time - #ID - product name). ID Sample Date (M/D/Y) Product Name Time Filter 1 Filter 2 Filter 3 Filter 4 Filter 5 Filter 6 1 4/17/04 XXXX 15:5: /17/04 XXXX 15:6: /17/04 XXXX 15:7: Before transferring the values into the database DO NOT FORGET TO GIVE A NAME TO YOUR PRODUCT (ie: coffee). Check the boxes of the samples to be saved and click the SAVE icon. At the end of the sampling procedure, close the sampling access and click the STOP icon. NOTE: It is important to identify each sample with a sample reference, cross referenced to the detector sample/product identification/reference and client name/date/time. Following this procedure will eliminate any errors in completing the calibration table of the analyzer in the menu PERMANENT DATABASE. Laboratory values: MENU FILE To set the laboratory values, cross the NIR measurement
DEMO EQUIPMENT METHOD PAGE 6 OF 11 The set needs to contain, at the minimum 20 samples, to optimize the accuracy of the demonstration. This will ensure proper statistical validation of calibration coefficients. Set the laboratory values into the table (value of the moisture in % - ie: 34.5 for the sample named Softwood - date of sampling 08/09/04 at 19:45:34). CALIBRATION CURVE - MENU CALIBRATION After setting the corresponding laboratory values, you can start the automatic calibration: Select here Next step here
DEMO EQUIPMENT METHOD PAGE 7 OF Select the component (ie: H 2 O). 2. Select the product (ie: Softwood) 3. The sample list will be used for calibration (Select 2 filter reference and then confirm calibration with icon).
DEMO EQUIPMENT METHOD PAGE 8 OF 11 Calibration curves will be proposed with the accuracy and the correlation factor Use the first proposal CALIBRATION CURVE The calibration will automatically display information regarding: Accuracy in % moisture Measuring range Correlation factor Number of samples used
DEMO EQUIPMENT METHOD PAGE 9 OF 11 Samples can be deleted. Accuracy of each sample can be controlled at the right table (cursor). Values can be saved as an Excel file. Zoom on the display. To save the curve: activate the bottom green icon and give the curve a name (ie: CurveSoftwood1). TRANSFER THE CURVE IN SENSOR HEAD Create a recipe in menu product and transfer the recipe into the sensor. SEE PROCEDURE IN OPERATION MANUAL BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE DEMO MENU IRPC CHECKUP - EASY MAINTENANCE FOR CUSTOMER Maintenance access. Recipe access (maximum of 64 in the sensor head). When ready, green lights will flash in the sensor head and on the menu screen
DEMO EQUIPMENT METHOD PAGE 10 OF 11 Press and HOLD the pushbutton (red color LED when active). Analyze the sample in the laboratory Create a recipe in product menu and transfer the recipe into the sensor. Transfer the curve in sensor head. MENU CALIBRATION - AUTOMATIC CALIBRATION After setting the corresponding laboratory values, you can start the automatic calibration. Select the component: H 2 O. Select the product: name of the product. Calibration curves will be proposed stating the accuracy and the correlation factor. Use the first proposal. The calibration will automatically be displayed with information regarding: Accuracy in % moisture Measuring range Correlation factor Quantity of samples used Multi-curve(s) calibration (no limitation) MENU FILE Set-up language and specific data (user name and password access). Backup of the application. DEMO PREPARATION WITH SAMPLES DEMONSTRATION WITH SAMPLES Samples must be ready: moisture values must be available during your demonstration (lab measurements can take hours). A minimum of five (5) samples with different moisture in the measuring range. You can measure each sample three (3) times, which will provide you with fifteen (15) values for calibration. Take care of moisture evaporation during the measurement. Turn off the light. Do not forget to rename the product (if a different product is used). CALIBRATION If a sample seems to have a wrong reference value, DO NOT set the moisture reference in the corresponding column (ie: this sample will not be used for the calibration). Use two (2) reference filters for the calibration curve. Save your curve.
