April 2 - Annual Bronze Box Competition at the Don Mills Club April 14 - Colour Printing Workshop April 21 - Annual Photo Essay Evening May 5 - Annual General Meeting, election of Officers, Trophy Presentations May 10 to 18 - Special hanging of HCC prints in St. John the Evangelist Church on Locke Street in Hamilton Clinic #4 was shown on February 24, 2003, with an Assignment topic of "IMPACT." There were 151 pieces of work entered, probably the largest exercise so far. Your results are shown here.

Sol Algranti has moved up to Intermediate, and Jim Alton has also moved up to Intermediate. Fine work, gentlemen!!!! ANALYZING a CLINIC can reveal all sorts of interesting facts. We often groan because we feel we've been dealt short shrift by some unknown judge, but the actual truth is they try to do a fair job under the pressure of time. Our last Clinic #4 was a dandy example with no less than 151 pieces of work to consider; our President instructed them that at HCC a score of 6 was to be considered the median, or average if you will. If all 3 judges gave that score to an image, you would obviously end up with 18 total, but looking at this chart shows that our final overall was 20.5, which is probably better than many of us suspected by feel only. Here are the hard facts. Makes us think again?

Remember that outside of a "fast" step-up available to the Junior Category for three high scoring prints, the basic process leading to advancement is to earn 10 honorable mentions in order to advance to the next higher category. The charts show how many HMs have been earned so far. Some names have a "0" shown, which merely means that person has just entered that particular category, but not yet earned any HMs at that level.
