Line Art Directions Link to line art coloring pages Ctrl + Click to access the link Coloring pages - Coloring Book More than printable coloring sheets. Free coloring pages of kids heroes. Select a coloring category.
Select a picture Make sure the printer is at the top of the picture or it will not work well. Right click and select save picture as
Open the document in Photoshop When your document opens, it should look similar to the one below. (Except it will be your picture)
Reset the Essentials Press D on the keyboard- to set your colors back to the default. From the menu select - Image>Mode>RGB Color this allows layers to be added.
Examine your picture for places the color may leak. See the area below.
Use the crop tool to fix this problem. This will make it easier for you later!
Before After We will begin by coloring the drawing.-we will make a new layer for each color! Press the F7 key- to make the layers appear and disappear in Photoshop. From the bottom of the layers palette click on the Create new layer Icon (see circled below) Make 7 layers
Select the paint bucket tool. It is under the gradient tool. Choose the foreground color you want
Choose OK Make sure all layers is selected at the top of the screen.
With the paint bucket tool selected Fill in the first color Name the first layer layer by double clicking the layer name and typing a description change colors fill in the second color
Repeat for each color change colors fill in the next color See the example below Do this until all of the drawing is completely filled in with color. Now we will add some extra effects to finish off the drawing.
Select the Dodge Tool and (adjust the size of the tool with the left [or right] bracket keys.) The dodge tool will lighten the pixels so use it in an area to show a light source. Select the sky color layer Uncheck the Protect Tones box and Change the range to Highlights Move the Dodge tool in a diagonal pattern in the top right of the picture. See result below. Next choose the burn tool-it s in the same palette as the dodge tool
Uncheck the Protect Tones box and Change the range to Shadows Move the Burn tool in a diagonal pattern in the Bottom left of the picture. See result below. We will use the brush tool but first let s increase our variety of brushes. Select the brush tool- open the brush menu (the triangle under the word image is a pull down menu)

You will not have all the brushes I have-yet, I will show you how to get them. Notice the star or gear looking icon on the top right of the window above- it is a pull down menu. Click on the one in your Photoshop program. Select - Assorted Brushes
Select -Append Repeat this procedure until you have added all the brushes in the menu. You should now have a large variety of brushes Save your file to save your brushes for future projects. Select the color white for your foreground color. Pick a brush that looks like a snowflake. (It may help to choose large thumbnails from the brush menu.)
Make a new layer on top of the other layers and paint on several places. I selected one similar to a snowflake With the new layer (brushes), you made selected Press the brush tool in your drawing Several places in the drawing.
Place you name in the file by doing the following. Select the Horizontal Type Tool. Change the foreground color (to contrast the background.)
Type your name in size 30pt- Bold Use the move tool to place your name in open area of the screen.
With your text layer still selected From the menu choose edit>free transform- rotate your text Under file choose as Now let s save it as a JPG file also File save as
Turn is as your instructor desires. With what you have learned complete 5 additional drawings. Be sure to experiment -using different brushes different filters- You could even scan a drawing of your own or download it from a cell phone or camera.
