1 u ZWEIGLE The yarn analysis systems
2 Perfect partners for the ultimate in quality testing USTER instruments provide the essential foundation for world - class quality control in areas such as evenness (the USTER TESTER 6) and strength measuring (USTER TENSORAPID 4, USTER TENSOJET 4). For those users who wish to extend their testing capabilities to include extra features such as twist and count measurement, USTER offers excellent options with instruments from the former ZWEIGLE company. In 2009, USTER enhanced its position as world leader in yarn testing and certification by acquiring and subsequently further developing the ZWEIGLE range of complementary products. The advantages in terms of finished product quality and saleability in yarn trading are significant, with the USTER and ZWEIGLE ranges complementing each other perfectly to create the ultimate quality control solution. This synergy is illustrated superbly by the hairiness tes t ing combination of the USTER ZWEIGLE HL400 and the OH Sensor for the USTER TESTER 6. The OH Module provides the industry standard H value for yarn hairiness the only benchmark accepted in yarn trading, as well as an early - warning signal for potential production problems. The USTER ZWEIGLE HL400 measures the actual hairiness length, with its sensitive measuring system assessing the level and number of protruding fibers in the yarn. This enables spinners to forecast accurately how the yarn will perform in subsequent processes, e.g., the entanglement of warp yarns, and how it will look in the final fabric an especially useful feature when engineering a new yarn type. It also helps mills decide on traveler changes and maintenance routines. A further example of the ZWEIGLE extra advantage is the USTER ZWEIGLE TWIST TESTER 5, for accurate and precise analysis of yarn twist one of the key elements in any yarn specification. No other parameter has a greater impact on fabric handle and feel, or on a mill s overall efficiency, and the proven ZWEIGLE expertise in this area is now enhanced as part of USTER s wide - ranging quality control portfolio.
3 Taking hairiness testing to another level The hairiness of a yarn has a major impact on virtually every aspect of fabric quality across a wide range of textile end uses. The appearance and durability of the fabric are affected, as well as the productivity and efficiency of further manufacturing operations, by the degree of yarn hairiness. The latest USTER ZWEIGLE HL400 hairiness tester takes the globally established ZWEIGLE S3 hairiness value measurement to the next level. The instrument offers benefits in terms of improved accuracy and it now operates eight times faster than previous instruments, with a test speed of 400 m/min. So the task of hairiness analysis is no longer a bottleneck in the lab. The speed upgrade means more tests can be carried out and process control speeded up, while the instrument fits with the testing cycle of the USTER TESTER 6. In addition the measurement is now independent from the operator influence due to the automatic calibration. The well - known ZWEIGLE S3 figure for the hairiness of a yarn is based on the number of protruding fibers of 3 mm and longer, and this number allows for meaningful comparison and communication about hairiness levels. It also allows the spinner to forecast how the yarn will behave in subsequent processes and how the finished fabric will look and perform especially useful in engineering a new yarn. Any type of staple yarn can be tested like cotton, cotton blends and synthetics. Even more detail is available as the USTER ZWEIGLE HL400 can display the number of protruding fibers in seven different length categories. The instrument is of particular support when modifying machines. By combining the USTER ZWEIGLE HL400 with the USTER TESTER 6 and its special OH hairiness sensor, the spinner can manage every hairiness - testing requirement. The OH Module provides the H - value the acknowledged industry benchmark for hairiness, used in yarn - trading contracts and also acts as an early - warning mechanism at the production stage. Together, the two instruments amount to an integrated total solution for all hairiness - testing requirements. Top: USTER ZWEIGLE HL400 Bottom: Ring spinning frame as origin of many hairiness problems Enormous benefits in accurate assessment of hairiness Precise analysis of hairiness length Improved accuracy Test speed of 400 m/min Fits perfectly with USTER TESTER 6 Independent from operator influence due to automatic calibration Any type of staple yarn can be tested
4 Tensioning technology the key to accurate twist testing USTER ZWEIGLE TWIST TESTER 5: Buyers and sellers of yarn know that twist is one of the most important parameters in specifying a yarn for many textile applications. Not only can the twist level in a yarn affect the look and performance of the finished product, it also has a direct impact on mill efficiency and profitability. The twist also has a significant influence on quality characteristics such as strength and elongation. Accuracy in determining twist levels is the major requirement, and to achieve this, it is important to have the best - possible technological solution. That is where the USTER ZWEIGLE TWIST TESTER 5 scores, with its specially developed tensioning system a fundamental prerequisite for correct measurement of yarn twist. This technical advantage means the USTER ZWEIGLE TWIST TESTER 5 works with the highest degree of precision available today. Its flexibility means it can accommodate different testing routines for various industry requirements. Special options include a dedicated test method for compact - spun yarns and tire cord manufacturers, designed to meet the exacting standards of the automobile industry. The importance of measuring yarn twist is now further underlined and supported in the authoritative USTER STATISTICS benchmarks. USTER immediately added an extra chapter on yarn twist to the USTER STATISTICS data when the USTER ZWEIGLE TWIST TESTER 5 was added to the company s instrument range. USTER ZWEIGLE YARN INSPECTION WINDER : Human expertise also plays a role in assessing yarn grades, as an extra check on the standard quality values obtained from traditional testing instruments. To assist in this, the USTER ZWEIGLE YARN INSPECTION WINDER offers a fast and simple overview of yarn quality data, highlighting parameters such as thick and thin places, neps, and hairiness, along with periodic faults. The instrument interprets the numerical quality data from test instruments and presents it in an easy - to - read format. 5 Complete package precise and reliable for count determination Precise determination of the count in staple fiber yarns and rovings is a fundamental prerequisite of the entire textile - spinning process, and the importance of absolute accuracy in count determination requires a totally reliable instru - ment ation package. This is the job of the classic USTER AUTOSORTER 5, part of a complete laboratory solution from fiber through the entire spinning process, in combi nation with the USTER ZWEIGLE YARN REEL, USTER UNWINDING DEVICE or the USTER ZWEIGLE ROVING REEL. Together, these instruments are a must - have solution for every spinning mill. The USTER AUTOSORTER 5 determines both average yarn count and count variation of preparatory products and spun yarns. Used in tandem with USTER STATISTICS, the USTER AUTOSORTER 5 integrates with internationally accepted benchmarks, and guarantees modern, systematic and comparable yarn testing in the textile mill the first step to consistent yarn quality. The USTER ZWEIGLE YARN REEL and the USTER UNWINDING DEVICE are widely recognized as standard equipment for precise electronic length measurement. Both instruments are designed for automatic operation. In addition, USTER offers the USTER ZWEIGLE ROVING REEL as a semiautomatic model. This essential count - measuring package features advanced guide elements and precise setting of the tensioning force. Samples are quickly and flexibly created on user - friendly equipment.
