Reference to photos is [P] with the relevant photo number * * Repeat instructions between asterisks the amount of times specified. This is normally a repeat for a complete side and will consist of multiple instructions. () Repeat instructions between parentheses the amount of times specified. This is a lower level repeat. For this part you will be working in rows. You may choose to begin each row with a number of chains as your 1 st stitch, or you may use standing or starting stitches. If you use chain start remember that the last stitch of the following row will be made into the 3 rd chain for dc rows or 4 th chain for tr rows. If like me you prefer to not have lots of ends to work away, you may want to use a magic knot to join new colours at the beginning of a row, and replace any standing stitches with ch 3 for a dc, and ch 4 for a tr.

2 1. Ch 52, working into the back bump only, dc in 4 th bump from hook [P1] and next 48 back bumps. [1 st ch-3 counts as dc]. Stitch count: 50 dc. Hint: start row with chain [P1a, 2a] or with starting dc [P1b, 2b] Ensure last dc is made in top of ch-3, to keep sides even, white arrow top of ch-3 [P3,4],

3 2. Turn your work: Ch-3 [counts as 1 st dc], dc in next 49 sts. Stitch count: 50 dc. 3. Turn your work: Join with a standing tr in 1 st st [P1], (ch 2, skip next st, sc in next st, ch 2, skip next st, tr in next st) 12 times, ch 2, sc in top of ch-3. Stitch count: 13 sc, 13 tr, 25 ch-2 spaces.

4 4. Turn your work: Ch 5 [counts as tr plus ch-1], (sc in next tr[p2], ch 1, tr in next sc, ch 1) 12 times, sc in tr. Stitch count: 13 sc, 13 tr, 25 ch-1 spaces. 5. Turn your work: Ch 6 [counts as tr plus ch-2], (sc in next tr, ch 2, tr in next sc, ch 2) 12 times, sc in 4 th ch of ch-5. Stitch count: 13 sc, 13 tr, 25 ch-2 spaces.

5 6. Turn your work: Ch 5 [counts as tr plus ch-1], (sc in next tr, ch 1, tr in next sc, ch 1) 12 times, sc in 4 th ch of ch-6. Stitch count: 13 sc, 13 tr, 25 ch-1 spaces. 7. Turn your work: Join with a standing dc in sc, (dc in ch-1 space, dc in next st) 24 times, dc in 4 th ch of ch-5. Stitch count: 50 dc. 8. Turn your work: Ch 3 [counts as dc], dc in next 49 sts. Stitch count: 50 dc.

6 Repeat rows 3 to 8 twice more giving a total of 20 rows. Block panels to same height as Eileen squares. Approx.. size: Double knit with 4mm hook 9 inches/23cm Aran with 5.5mm hook 11 inches/28cm Place a stitch marker in 1 st and last st of top and bottom of panel, this will help you later on. Using a whip stitch, join through back loops of square and side stitches of panel. Join 1 panel each side of Eileen square. Start in top of st in panel and ch-2 corner of square to ensure even edge. [P1,2], For each st in square match to: 2 sts per dc, 1 st per sc, 3 sts per tr. DO NOT JOIN TO MAIN PIECE.

7 Part 7 Side Panels Make 4 Worked as end panels, except slightly longer. 1. Ch 76, working into back bumps, dc in 4 th back bump from hook, dc in next 72 back bumps. [1 st ch-3 counts as dc]. Stitch count: 74 dc. 2. Turn your work: Ch-3 [counts as dc], dc in next 73 sts. Stitch count: 74 dc. 3. Turn your work: Join with a standing tr in 1 st st, (ch 2, skip next st, sc in next st, ch 2, skip next st, tr in next st) 18 times, ch 2, sc in top of ch-3. Stitch count: 19 sc, 19 tr, 37 ch-2 spaces. 4. Turn your work: Ch 5 [counts as tr plus ch-1], (sc in next tr, ch 1, tr in next sc, ch 1) 18 times, sc in tr. Stitch count: 19 sc, 19 tr, 37 ch-1 spaces. 5. Turn your work: Ch 6 [counts as tr plus ch-2], (sc in next tr, ch 2, tr in next sc, ch 2) 18 times, sc in 4 th ch of ch-5. Stitch count: 19 sc, 19 tr, 37 ch-2 spaces. 6. Turn your work: Ch 5 [counts as tr plus ch-1], (sc in next tr, ch 1, tr in next sc, ch 1) 18 times, sc in 4 th ch of ch-6. Stitch count: 19 sc, 19 tr, 37 ch-1 spaces. 7. Turn your work: Join with a standing dc in sc, (dc in ch-1 space, dc in next st) 36 times, dc in 4 th ch of ch-5. Stitch count: 74 dc. 8. Turn your work: Ch 3 or make a starting dc, dc in next 73 sts. Stitch count: 74 dc. Repeat rows 3 to 8 twice more giving a total of 20 rows. 8 Place a stitch marker in 1 st and last st of top and bottom of panel, this will help you later on. Using a whip stitch join as part 6. Join 1 panel each side of Eileen square.
