1 PHILADELPHIA MUMMERS BRIGADE ASSOCIATION 2013 ANNUAL REPORT PRESIDENT MESSAGE Jim Julia, I am pleased to share with you this condensed annual report for the fiscal year 2013 of the Philadelphia Mummers Brigade Association. Enclosed you will be introduced to not only our financial profile for the past year, but also our involvement in the communities that make up the Delaware Valley. All of this is achieved as part of our goal to continue Philadelphia s most unique and oldest folk art parade in the country. Jim Julia Philadelphia Mummers Brigade Association Philadelphia is the Fanciest Place to Spend New Year s Day OUR MISSION Membership in the Fancy Brigade division of the Philadelphia Mummers is open to all members in the community. Members participate in the organization throughout the year in many community-based activities to provide enrichment, perpetuate tradition and education in Mummery in a variety of venues within the region. The Fancy Brigade Association (or Fancy Brigades) performs at carnivals to benefit multiple charitable interests (i.e. numerous churches, schools, hospitals, etc.). The organization promotes the transmission of cultural folk traditions in the context of social and community activities in which the organization both plans and participates.
2 MUMMERS IN THE COMMUNITY Community Scholarships Spartans NYB The Spartans with their first year, in the Fancy Brigade Division, also introduced their inaugural Scholarship program awarding multiple scholarships. The essay topic What does the American flag mean to you? Essay Contest Fancy Brigade Association The Fancy Brigade Association in cooperation with the South Philly Review Newspaper sponsored an essay contest for elementary students with the prize being a guest judge at our Noon Family show on New Years Day. NAVY SUPPLY CORPS 215TH BIRTHDAY BALL-DANCE PARTY "PHILADELPHIA Navy Birthday Ball Golden Crown NYB Members of the Golden Crown NYB celebrate with in the Navy Supply Corps 215TH Birthday Ball-Dance Party in "Philadelphia.
3 MUMMERS IN THE COMMUNITY Philabundance Bill McIntyres Shooting Stars NYB The Shooting Stars coordinated and collected 1,358 lbs., in their first Strut Against Hunger food drive, supporting Philabundance. Clothing Drive Downtowners NYB The Downtowners Fancy Brigade partnering is with A&E Clothing Corporations, specialized in processing used clothing and other used goods. They provide services for organizations, charities, schools, and clubs. Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 2nd Steert Shooters NYB 2nd Street Shooters participated and entertained in the Philadelphia Cystic Fibrosis Foundations Philly Great Stride event. Giving the event a Philadelphia flavor.

Elaborate performances with costumes, music, and dance are the attractions that allow the Fancy Brigade Association to raise funds. These funds are used to create the signature event on New Years Day to celebrate the New Year, The Fancy Brigade Finale.
