2 Patent search result and selection of validated patents Treaty As a preliminary task of the patent analysis, 5,568 patents have been searched through six searches and company-specific searches. Total 356 validated patents on remote phosphors have been selected ( attached to Appendix), after deduplication between published and issued patents and denoising of patents on other technologies through examination of titles, abstracts, claims, and drawings of each patent. 3 Patent trend by country/ year From the chart below, US is most active in filing activities. Interestingly, a majority of the patents are filed in PCT with major countries appointed specifically. This shows that important patents are filed in PCT. In the filed of remote phosphor, patent trend by year/ country is as follows (validated patent: total 356 cases). There has been an upward trend since U.S. patents account for the largest portion. What is worth noting is that many PCT applications ***.
