1 CURATOR'S REPORT THE BERLIN AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY NOVEMBER 10, 2015 GARY AND MELVA JEAN GLESSNER AND "THE KINLEY" VICTORIAN BABY CARRIAGE" On November 21, 2015 Gary and Melva Jean Glessner, who are relocating to Preston, Maryland, placed on loan the above pictured ''The Kinley" Victorian Baby Carriage. It was purchased in the early 1900's for Vernon Coughenour by his parents Alec and Maggie Coughenour of Glen Savage. It has passed down through the family for many years and in 2010 was given to Gary and Melva Jean when they moved to Allegheny Township. Gary is a son of Ray Glessner and a grandson ofjames Alexander Glessner. James A. Glessner was a grandson son ofalec Coughenour and a son of Harry and Pearl (Coughenour) Glessner. The Harry Glessner and Alec Coughenour families were two early generation owners of what many of us remember as the former August and Carmen Kern farm, at the edge of Glen Savage. Since 2010 Gary and MelvaJean have resided on the farm at 1028 Dividing Ridge Road in Allegheny Township where Charles "Chuck" R6bb grew up as a youngster. Gary and MelvaJean constructed a new house on that property.

OTHER DONATIONS RECEIVED: We have received numerous donations toward the new roof needed for the genealogy building for which we are sincerely appreciative. Recently Ben and Mary Lou Walker have donated $ toward the roof project. Other larger donations were listed in the Oct. 13, 2015 curator's report. Mary K. Foy donated genealogy on James Michael Ross. Curt and Dorothy Shaulis donated a copy of Berlin's Centennial ( ) booklet and other historical booklets. Gary Estnick, board member and volunteer, had a second knee replacement on October 26 and continues to improve while taking therapy. Hayley Gardner, a 2015 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School, provided identification for her senior graduation class picture. We have made arrangements to purchase each upcoming graduation picture for BBHS from Chris Hay photography in Somerset. These graduation pictures continue the senior class picture project that Anna May Weighley has worked so hard to keep updated through the years. Thank you, Anna May! A memorial of $ to our endowment fund in memory of Carl and Marjorie Hay has been made by Dennis and Cheryl Hay, Larry and Gale Hay, and Keith and Kathryn Hay. A TOUR FOR THE FIFTH GRADERS AT BBHS! Approximately 50 fifth grades at Berlin's Middle School along with teachers Holly McKenzie, Casey Montgomery, and Tanner Prosser enjoyed a tour of our bam and genealogy building on the afternoon of October 14. Helping with the tour were Leanne Calvert, Stew Saylor, Jim Suder, Gary Estnick and David Hay. One of the fifth graders brought his grandmother into BAHS the following weekend as he wanted her to see "all the stuff we have!"

Zion area of Allegheny Township was donated by Bill Tipton. He and Charlene N orris are two of the many descendants of Binnie Tipton ( ), wife of James Tipton and a daughter of Samuel and Susan (Hay) Walker, who also lived at Mt. Zion in Allegheny Township. 6 FRANZCISKUS (FRANCIS) HAY'S CERTIFICATE FOR MARRIAGE! Rose Ann Mease presented the February 1, 1773 wedding permission certificate for Francis Hay and Anna Gertrude Grafe (Grom Hay to marry on February 25, Frantz Hay was born in Gerhardsbrunn, Germany ~:m February 23, 1745 and immigrated to the USA as did his brothers Simon Hay of Hay's Mill and Valentine Hay, who later moved on to Kentucky.
