2 Patent Attorneys Bernhard Böck studied forestry and mechanical engineering at the University of Munich. He carried out scientific work in the fields of metal forming and die casting at the Technical University of Munich. His major fields of activity include mechanical engineering, in particular production technologies and precision mechanics, automotive engineering, structural engineering, in particular structural engineering using steel and glass, agricultural machinery and food production technologies. His activities performed in these fields include the prosecution of patent and trademark infringement cases and licensing. 3 Axel von den Steinen studied mechanical engineering at the University of Erlangen. He is practicing as German and European patent attorney dealing with patent infringement proceedings, enforcement of patent and trademark protection rights and licensing. His major fields of activity include mechanical engineering, in particular automotive engineering, specifically automobile equipment and on-board bus systems; packaging machinery; printing machines and optical control systems. He is a member of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi), the Chamber of German Patent Attorneys and the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI). Dr. Thomas Grünberg studied crystallography at the Ludwig-Maximilian University of Munich. After having studied for one year at the University of Swansee, Wales in 1988/89, he completed his studies in 1992 being awarded a diploma. Following the completion of his studies, he was granted a scholarship and carried out scientific work in the field of low-energy electron diffraction, both in Munich and in Berkeley, California. In 1996 he commenced his work on a thesis relating to subjects of surface physics at the Ludwig- Maximilian University of Munich. Mr. Dr. Grünberg is practicing as German and European patent attorney dealing with the enforcement of patent and trademark rights, infringement proceedings and licensing. 4 Dr. Oliver Schneider studied chemistry and biology at the University of Regensburg and had been active as scientific assistant in the field of organic chemistry at the University of Regensburg. Besides, Dr. Schneider worked for the clinical department of AstraZeneca based in Hamburg. He has special experience in patent matters relating to the fields of chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacy, mechanics and mechanical engineering. His major fields of activity include the enforcement of patent and utility model rights, including opposition, cancellation and nullity proceedings as well as licensing. In addition, Dr Schneider has extensive experience in the fields of trademark and design law. He is a member of the Institute of Patent Attorneys admitted at the European Patent Office (epi), of the Chamber of German Patent Attorneys and the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI). Dr. Beate Binsack studied chemistry at the Universities of Bonn and Cologne and carried out scientific work in the field of organic chemistry at the University of Cologne. She holds a doctorate in chemistry. She worked for the patent department of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in Munich and for the patent department of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt. She has particular experience in patent matters relating to the fields of organic chemistry; inorganic chemistry; polymer chemistry; biochemistry and pharmacy. Her activities performed in these fields include the enforcement of patent, utility model and trademark protection rights, including appeal proceedings and licensing. 5 Dr. Andreas Schuchert was awarded the Dipl.-Ing. Degree (Graduate Engineer) in electrical engineering at the Aachen University of Technology (RWTH Aachen) in 1990 followed by the Dr.- Ing. Degree (Doctor of Engineering) in the field of digital communication. During his research activity at the Motorola Inc. he placed his focus on the design of digital transmission systems and was in charge of projecting telematics system concepts for the automotive industry. As an active member of the standardization bodies within the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) he was involved in the introduction of the digital broadcast system DVB. Since 2004 Dr. Andreas Schuchert has been working in the field of intellectual property. After gaining practial experience in a law firm specialized in intellectual property rights relating to the field of electrical and mechanical engineering and after gaining practical experience in legal procedures at the OLG (Higher Regional Court) of Düsseldorf, Dr. Schuchert has been working as a German Patent and Trademark Attorney. Dr. Schuchert is mainly involved in patent prosecution and patent litigation matters relating to high-tech industry products. Dr. Andreas Schuchert is a member of the Chamber of German Patent Attorneys. Peter Schubert studied mechanical engineering at the Central Hessian University of Applied Sciences with a special focus on precision mechanics.. After completion of his studies, he gathered experience in the field of product designing and was active as a consulting engineer for several years. Moreover, Mr. Schubert is the author and co-author of a multitude of publications, particularly in the field of ergonomics. In his capacity as German and European patent attorney, he is dealing with patents in the fields of mechanical engineering, in particular automotive engineering, material technologies, production engineering, foundry technology, medical engineering, technical optics, chip technologies, in particular RF applications, and peripheral microprocessor technologies. 6 Helmut Kissling studied mechanical engineering, supported by two scholarships, at the University of Stuttgart, the University of Auckland, New Zealand, as well as at the University of Tübingen. In 1987, he was honoured by Chancellor Dr. Helmut Kohl with an award sponsored by the German Minister for Economic Affairs. The research paper for which he received the award was later chosen to be included in the encyclopaedia of inventions Le Livre Mondial des Inventions. After obtaining a German Diplom with a research project in medical engineering, he did scientific research at the Wuppertal Institute and at Daimler-Benz in Berlin and worked as a product manager for Mannesmann Sachs in Schweinfurt and for DaimlerChrysler in Stuttgart. His major fields of activities as a German and European Patent Attorney include obtaining, enforcing and defending patent rights, in particular in the fields of automotive engineering and manufacturing engineering, lightweight construction and composite materials as well as medical devices and software engineering. He is a member of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi), of the Chamber of German Patent Attorneys (Patentanwaltskammer) and of the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI). Philipp Etz studied material and product development specialising in material modelling and component optimisation at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences as well as economics and engineering with a specialty in mechanical engineering at the Dresden University of Technology. His studies and research were focused on human-technology relationships and in particular on the field of biomechanics. Philipp Etz is a practising German patent attorney and focuses on the obtaining of patent and utility model rights and their enforcement in case of infringement as well as on licensing. Moreover, he deals with employee inventions. His primary fields of activity are technical inventions in the area of mechanical engineering, predominantly regarding manufacturing technology and automotive engineering. Mr Etz s expertise also includes the obtaining and enforcement of trade mark rights and designs. As a European trade mark and design attorney, he is authorised to represent clients before the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). 7 Dr. Christiane Katja Schwager studied biology at the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen. After graduating University, she received, among others, a PhD scholarship and gained her PhD in the field of bioinformatics and genome research at the Center for Biotechnology at Bielefeld University. Her PhD studies have been complemented by grant-aided research periods at the University of California, Berkeley. Furthermore, Dr. Schwager is author and coauthor of several scientific publications. In 2011, Dr. Schwager started her career in industrial property rights. Her area of expertise comprises the prosecution, enforcement and defense of industrial property rights, in particular in the field of biotechnological, medical engineering and technical engineering patents and utility models. Dr. Schwager is a member of the Chamber of German Patent Attorneys (Patentanwaltskammer) and the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI). Florian J. H. März (M.Sc.) studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Munich. His main areas of study and research were construction engineering. Mr. März works as a German and European patent attorney. His area of expertise comprises the prosecution, enforcement and defence of industrial property rights, in particular opposition, cancellation and nullity proceedings. He has special experience in patent matters relating to the fields of mechanics, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, environmental technology and medical technology. Mr. März successfully completed an additional degree in patent engineering at the Fern-Universität Hagen and worked for several years as an honorary supervisor for the candidate working group at the Patentanwaltskammer in Munich for the training of prospective patent attorneys. 8 Attorneys-At-Law Dr. Nina Maenz studied law at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich and has been working as an attorney-at-law in the field of industrial property rights since The title of her doctorate awarded in the field of law read "Competitive need, distinctiveness and scope of protection of three-dimensional trademarks". In her capacity as "Certified IP Lawyer", Mrs. Dr. Maenz deals with national and international mandates in all matters of trademark and design protection. Mrs. Dr. Maenz is also active in fields of Competitive Law, trademark disputes as well as legal representation in all infringement proceedings relating to patents and utility models. Mrs. Dr. Maenz is a member of the Chamber of Lawyers of Munich, the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR), the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP). Eugen Tuchscherer studied law at the Moscow State Law Academy and at the Universities of Würzburg and Mainz. Before joining advotec. he worked at several law firms based in Wiesbaden and Frankfurt on the Main with a special focus on contract management and German and international civil law. Mr. Tuchscherer carries the title "Certified IP Lawyer" and is the coauthor of various contributions to patent and contractual licensing law. His fields of activity include German and international trademark law, copyright, patent and competition law. He is a member of the Chamber of Lawyers of Frankfurt on the Main (RAK Frankfurt on the Main), the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR) and the Association for German-Russian Business Law (VDRW)

9 Dorothée Oerter studied law at the Justus Liebig University Giessen with a particular focus on media law. She already worked for a law firm specialised in copyright law during her legal traineeship at the Regional Court of Giessen. After attaining the qualification to practise as an attorney in 2011, she continued her employment at the law firm until starting to work for advotec. Patent- und Rechtsanwälte, European Patent, Trademark and Design Attorneys. She carries the title "Certified IP Lawyer". The main focus of Miss Oerter s work is the extrajudicial and judicial enforcement of trademark, copyright and competitive law-related claims and providing professional advice to trademark applicants in Germany as well as on an international level. Dorothée Oerter is a member of the Attorney Bar Association in Frankfurt am Main, the German Association of Attorneys (DAV) and of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR). Robert Mühlbauer studied law at the University of Passau and worked as a trainee lawyer at different chambers of the Regional Court of Passau and in a law office in Munich. Since the beginning of 2000 he has been active as an attorney-at-law. Furthermore he is a graduate of the training course as a specialist lawyer for intellectual property rights. His main fields of competence are the extrajudicial and judicial prosecution and defence of intellectual property right infringements and unfair competition, providing consultancy to advertisers and the drafting of licensing agreements in all matters of intellectual property rights. Furthermore Mr. Mühlbauer is active in the field of copyright law. He is a member of the Attorney Bar Association in Nuremberg, the German Association of Attorneys (DAV), the German Association for Intellectual Property and Copyright Law (GRUR) and he is a member of the Intellectual Property and Media Working Group of the German Association of Attorneys (DAV). Besides Mr. Mühlbauer is a referee at the Entrepreneur School of the Hans Lindner Institute

10 Petra Bosbach studied law at the University of Cologne. After completing her legal traineeship at the Higher Regional Court of Dusseldorf (Regional Court of Wuppertal), she initially practiced as a self-employed attorney and established her own law firm. For the last ten years, she has worked in a law firm in Cologne, which specialises in industrial property rights, where she was in particular responsible for trade mark and competition law as well as media law. She is the author and co-author of regular legal publications on the topic of e-commerce. The extrajudicial and judicial enforcement of legal claims in trade mark and competition law and the assistance for applicants in trade mark law are the focus of her work and she has extensive procedural experience in this area. 11 Technical and legal Experts Rainer Jung attended the Technical School in Siegen, where he qualified as a state-certified technician in mechanical engineering with a focus on technology development, following his training as a technical draftsman Already during his studies and several years subsequent to his studies he worked as a design engineer in a mechanical engineering company within an internationally established group of companies. Mr. Jung is concerned with patents in the fields of mechanical engineering, especially manufacturing technology, process technology, automotive technology, automation technology, drive technology, conveyor technology, environmental technology, storage technology, building service engineering, sanitary and water engineering and medical technology. Mr. Jung has also gathered experience in the field of trademarks and design patents
