Hashem and his Deputies recently paid a visit to Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Fawaz Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to offer congratulations on the occasion of assuming his new post. The Governor welcomed the visit by the KOC officials and expressed hope that the cooperation between the Company and the Governorate will continue for the development of Ahmadi and the enhancement of its services. He also reiterated his eagerness to preserve the traditional aspect of Ahmadi and its Old Souk. Meanwhile, the KOC CEO spoke about the strong ties linking KOC and the Governorate and affirmed that the Company could not forget the Governorate s support on many projects. He maintained that the Company has a clear vision of preserving the traditional aspect of Ahmadi and that it already began the construction of 160 homes in the traditional architectural style of Ahmadi. New projects were also reviewed during the visit, including New Ahmadi Hospital, the Ahmad Al-Jaber Museum, the development of Ahmadi s stadiums and various services the Company provides. 2 2 1st Kuwait Industrial Automation and Control Systems Cyber Security Conference Event organized by EQUATE in partnership with KPC EQUATE recently organized the 1st Kuwait Industrial Automation and Control Systems Cyber Security Conference in partnership with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC). The event was held under the auspices of the Minister of Oil and Minister of National Assembly Affairs, Dr. Ali Al-Omair. KOC was represented by CEO Hashem S. Hashem, along with a number of Deputies, Managers and Team Leaders. In his opening remarks, the minister emphasized that the importance of the conference lies in the nature of challenges facing the industrial sector, particularly the IT sector, and noted that the huge turnout reflected the interest in this domain. The conference offers invaluable information with regards to having better protection and keeping industrial installations away from any threats of negative impact, he said. For his part, KPC CEO Nizar Al-Adsani indicated that KPC has always been poised to face challenges in order to ensure business continuity and sustainable development. While EQUATE President Mohammad Hussein described cyber security as a priority, the KOC CEO remarked that the security of systems has gained momentum for oil companies in the last two years, particularly since the attacks launched at some companies in the region.

3 3 Centennial Gulf Oil Companies HR Liaison Meeting Celebrating Half a Century of Alliance KOC recently hosted the Centennial Gulf Oil Companies HR Liaison Meeting, which was held under the theme of Celebrating Half a Century of Alliance. The Forum was inaugurated by Deputy CEO (A&F) Saad Al-Azmi, who welcomed the guests and wished them further success in their efforts toward cooperation and coordination for the benefit of their companies and employees. The KOC delegation to the forum was led by Human Resources Group Manager Hasan Al-Kandari, who told Energy that the purpose of the gathering was: To exchange knowledge and expertise about Human Resources between the Gulf oil companies. 4 4 Best Lighting Competition Winners Honored Al-Azmi: Your participation reflects your love for Kuwait Deputy CEO (A&F) Saad Al-Azmi recently honored the winners of the Best Lighting Competition organized by the Company on the occasion of National and Liberation Day. During a ceremony held at the Guest House, Al-Azmi delivered a speech saluting the positive efforts of the participants. He asserted that their participation was an honest expression of their love for their dear homeland, Kuwait. He added that the basic goal of the contest was to encourage citizens all over Kuwait to decorate their houses and expressed hope that the number of participants in the forthcoming contests will increase. Meanwhile, the participants expressed deep gratitude for this initiative from the Company. The event was inaugurated by the Deputy CEO for Planning & Commercial, Jamal Jaffer, who delivered a speech welcoming the audience and wishing the Committee every success in producing fruitful results aimed at consolidating joint action between national oil companies in the Gulf. Meanwhile, Purchasing and Materials Management Group Manager Abdul Wahab Al-Mithin said that eight working papers were reviewed and three panels were organized during the meeting. He affirmed that one of the final recommendations of the meeting upheld the need to continue exchanging visits in order to discuss specific subjects. Schlumberger Recognizes Financial Accounts & Services Group Event attended by a number of officials Schlumberger (Kuwait) recently organized an honoring ceremony to recognize the Accounts Payable Team of the Financial Accounts & Services Group for its outstanding efforts during the 2013/2014 fiscal year and the beginning of the current one. The efforts have led to the actualization of the two companies goals in terms of collecting service payments in a short period, in addition to the flexible manner in which the duties were performed. The three-day forum, which was held in the Middle East for the first time, drew more than 1,500 representatives from international, regional and local companies along with experts and specialists in the domain of log analysis and geological formations. It also included an exhibition of equipment and services provided by a number of international companies. Parallel to this, technical presentations and panel discussions were held where speakers submitted papers about relevant studies and research. For his part, the Kuwait SPWLA President Salem Al- Sabea, who led the KOC delegation, stated that the society plans to host the upcoming forum thanks to the successes registered by the Abu Dhabi event. During the session, the International Training Manager, Geologist and Consultant Robert Shup conducted a presentation titled: 10 Habits of Successful Oil Finders. The presentation was based on his 30 years of experience which he compiled in a book that he wrote in collaboration with D. J. Tirbock.

The topic was presented by Editor Basidia Drammeh of the Information Team. In her opening remarks, Team Leader Rima Al-Awadhi emphasized the importance of organizing knowledge sharing sessions and reiterated the need for sharing knowledge across KOC. She explained the initiatives taken by her team towards introducing KM in the organization. For his part, Drammeh elaborated on the basic concepts of KM, key success factors and challenges involved in the implementation process. He stated that organizations need to utilize the knowledge possessed by the employees and document it for future reference. Sessions was attended by various groups within KOC, and the event was concluded with a detailed Q&A Session with the Knowledge Management Team Leader. Eye Test Campaign in Fahaheel Concluded Aimed at discovering cases at early stage The Support Admin. Services of Ahmadi Hospital recently concluded an eye test campaign in Fahaheel in the presence of Team Leader Waleed Al- Rabeean. The TL explained that the campaign, which included four elementary schools, is in line with KOC s corporate social responsibility. He noted that the campaign supplements last year s, which was conducted in Ahmadi with the aim of discovering cases at an early stage. A random sample of 50 students was taken from each school, and based on the results those with cases were referred to hospitals for treatment.
