4 The International Network The world s largest and the EU s only international network of local experts Established by the European Commission in 2008 Mission: Support SMEs internationalization and transnational transfer of innovations; foster R&D within companies, access to funds and access to finance Target groups: SMEs, Universities, R&D centers, Young entrepreneurs, Researchers, Clusters Unique geographical coverage: 54+ partner countries, all 28 EU member countries and additional countries outside of the EU Approximately experts at 600+ organizations

Patenting is Prestigious I did it AND I was first! Easy Publication no editors Licensing possibilities Recoup money spent on R&D Commercial advantage over competitors EXCLUDED In Europe, "computer programs as such" are excluded from patentability, thus European Patent Office policy is consequently that a program for a computer is not patentable if it does not have the potential to cause a "further technical effect" beyond the inherent technical interactions between hardware and software.
