ABOUT THE SEMINAR By the end of March 2017, the Government of India operationalized the provisions of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016 (IBC) relating to corporate insolvency.

The enactment of the IBC has finally paved way for introduction of the much-needed modern framework to deal with insolvency of corporate entities.

MUKHOPADHAYA Shri Justice Sudhansu Jyoti Mukhopadhaya born on 15th March, 1950, is the son of late Shri Sarojendu Mukherjee who was a leading practitioner especially Constitutional and in Service law in the High Court of Patna. He passed the B.Sc. examination in 1971 from Magadh University and obtained his LL. B Degree in 1979 from the University of Patna. Enrolled as an Advocate on 18th May 1979 and practised at the Patna and Ranchi Benches of the High Court of Patna in Constitutional, Service, Civil and Criminal matters. He was designated as Senior Advocate in February, He was appointed as a permanent Judge of the High Court of Patna on 8th November, He was transferred on 15th November 2000 as permanent judge of the High Court of Jharkhand on its creation, where he served as the Acting Chief Justice for about a year and three months. Chairperson-National Company Law Appellate Tribunal Special Chief Guest HON'BLE JUSTICE MR. ARJAN KUMAR SIKRI Born on 7th March, had excellent academic record. Stood third in the merit list in Higher Secondary from CBSE, Delhi. Did his B.Com(Hons.) from Shriram College of Commerce, Delhi University in the year 1974 and LL.B from Law Faculty, Delhi University in the year Awarded Gold Medal for attaining first position in LL.B. Awarded special prize for getting highest marks in Constitutional Law I & II. Had distinction of securing first position in all six semesters of LL.B and getting all possible prizes and medals of Delhi University for LL.B course. Did his LL.M from Delhi University and got first position in three years course. Won medals and prizes in various extra curricular activities. Was president of Campus Law Centre, Delhi University in Was member of Academic Council of Delhi University in the year and various committees of Delhi University. In 1999, he was designated a Senior Advocate and was appointed as the Additional Solicitor General of India in July Mr. Chandhiok has successfully represented many corporate bodies, government agencies and departments in many important matters. He was Counsel for the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, for more than seven years. He successfully represented the Delhi Development Authority, various other government institutions, many nationalized banks and multinational banks and other corporates Indian as well as multinational, before international forums Arbitral Tribunals and Courts also. He was invited as an expert on Indian laws by various Courts/Tribunals and other institutions in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia. He was the Past Chairman of Northern Indian Regional Council (NIRC) of ICSI. During his term, NIRC of ICSI was adjudged as best regional council of ICSI. He is actively involved in various professional and industry associations.
