1 DELRAN BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING JUNE 26, 2012 The regular meeting of the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Delran Township Fire District No. 1 was held on Tuesday evening, May 22, 2012 at the Fire District office. The President called the meeting to order at 8:00 pm. The President announced that this meeting is being conducted within the provisions of N.J.S to N.J.S. 10:4-41 titled Open Public Meetings and that the time and place has been posted on the bulletin board of the Municipal Building, and was advertised in the Courier Post on March 2, Other members of the Board of Fire Commissioners and appointed persons present were Commissioners; James Bauer; James Turcich; Solicitor Kelly Adler; Deputy Chief #231 John Martino; Deputy Chief #232 Joe Cunningham; Fire Official Walt Bauer; Insurance Broker. Fire Commissioner Art Saul and Craig Manning were excused. A motion was made by James Turcich and seconded by James Bauer to accept the May 22, 2012 regular monthly Commissioners minutes and the caucus minutes of June 12, The Board was polled. All AYES. The motion was accepted. The President diverted from the regular order of business to intro Chief James Liberatore. Chief James Liberatore (Burlington Twp.), Chief James Steele (Medford) and Chief James Rea (Delanco) [absent] of the Burlington County Fire Chiefs Association Co-Coordinators of the 2012 Explorer Post/Junior FF Competition Workgroup; presented the Delran Fire Department Junior Firefighters and two Riverside Fire Company Junior Firefighters The 2012 Spirit Award (trophy). The trophy was awarded to the junior members because the Riverside team was short team members and could not compete. The Delran Fire Dept. junior members took these two Riverside juniors and used them of their team, realizing their compassion and comradely the judges awarded them the trophy. Special thanks went out to the Delran Fire Department Advisors: Jeff Workman, Josh Stellwag, Chris Harvey, Scott Seybert, Liz Seybert, and Kevin Peak. Special thanks also went to the Riverside Fire Department advisors: Richard Gaskill, Courtney Green, Amos Holt. The President then reverted back to the regular order of business.

2 COMMUNICATIONS Delran Fire Department received a thank you letter for participating in the Relay for Life event sponsored by Lourdes Medical Center. Corey Hullings attended the Moorestown High School s Vocational Transition Program Recognition Breakfast on June 9 where the Delran Fire Department received a certification of appreciation award for supporting and participating in the program. SECRETARY James Bauer reported that he has questions on SOP turned in by the Chief before submitting it for adoption. The old #2312 will be advertised in the Pennsylvania Fireman and in the Courier Post in July. CHIEF-at work DEPUTY CHIEF #231- A written report was submitted (See attached) John Martino also announced that the following members passed Firefighter I Class; Station #231-Mark Mann, Mark Suppin, Rich Bensel, Station #232- Joey Cunningham, Jeff Workman Jr. Several members also passed Fire Officers Class. #2312 is back in service and #2316 was placed out of service. The department completed the last and final live burn for the year at the county. DEPUTY CHIEF #232 Joe Cunningham reported that the department went into service at a dwelling fire on the 800 block of Chester Ave., Riverside June 24. One victim was trapped. #2324 and #7012 crews performed the rescue. The victim was treated by Station #239 and was flown to Crozier Hospital where she was listed in critical condition, but since then has been up-graded. Also later that evening, an electrical arc caused an attic fire at the Tenby Chase Swim Club. Crews from Cinnaminson and Riverside Fire Department were placed in service. No injuries were reported. The Delran Fire Department Boot Drive was completed in June, the money raised will help aid the V.F.W. Post #3020 in their fire recovery efforts. The Delran Fire Department were invited to third parades next month; July 4-Riverton, July 7- Florence Fire Department celebrating its 100 year anniversary, July 7- Palmyra Fire Department celebrating its 125 year anniversary. Lt. Pennell and Deputy Chief Cunningham attended a Dealing with Conflict and Confertation in the Workplace Seminar. Joe Cunningham said that the Coast Guard will be giving away boats, and that he would find out how to proceed. He also reported that he met with an I.S.O. representative for the department. Two additional items were forwarded to the I.S.O. representative; Walt sent a map of the township with fire

3 hydrants, and James Turcich faxed #2315 ladder tests. Joe Cunningham said that our I.S.O.rating should stay the same. FIRE OFFICIAL- A written report was submitted. (See attached) SOLICITOR S REPORT- A written report was submitted (See attached) Kelly Adler reported that she prepared a workers compensation waiver for the LiveStrong event that took place on June 23. The Grande Litigation is still pending. FIRE EQUIPMENT Station #231 is in need of a portable pump for basements. APPARATUS OFFICER- No report. PRESIDENTS REPORT Mal Anderson commented on the shortage of pagers. The Board stated that Minitor II & III pager parts are hard to find. The county is changing the frequency band. EMERGENCY SQUAD- no report. MASTER PLAN- no report. BUIILDING & GROUNDS 232- Need timers for outside lights. James Bauer reported that some of the air condition zones are good and some are not, AMS Mechanical will be called Red Star Roof repaired the roof leaks. James Turcich met with Penn Power Systems to review project requirements; a proposal will follow. PUBLIC RELATION- no report. CHIEF S DINNER/BUSINESS RECOGNITION- no report. OFFICE SPACE & EQUIPMENT Praxis will install the new computer server the week of July 9. FIRE PREVENTION- submitted report. EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT- (See attached)

4 UNIFORMS GRANTS We are waiting for the t-shirts to come in. The AFG Grant is open. BILLS FOR PAYMENT A motion was made by James Bauer and seconded by James Turcich to pay all bills presented. The Board was polled. All AYES. The motion was carried. TREASURER S REPORT A motion was made by James Bauer and seconded by James Turcich to accept the treasurer reports. The Board was polled. All AYES. The motion was carried. A bond payment of $299, is due August 15. WEB PAGE Committee working on placing minutes on website. FIRE POLICE- no report. OLD BUSINESS 1) Department Disciplinary Charges and Penalties 2) Nourishment Policy (FEMA) 3) Generator- Station #231 4) Old #2312 Mack bid NEW BUSINESS CLC Lock will be called to repair two door locks, and to look at the key fob controllers at Station #231. A motion was made by James Turcich and seconded by James Bauer to accept the audit report (Resolution ). The Board was called. All AYES. The motion was carried. The synopsis will be advertised in the newspaper. PUBLIC- no public comments.

5 COMMISSIONERS James Bauer reported that at the township meeting earlier this evening, township resident Lona Pangia ( ) is a volunteer for The DLYKH (Drive Like Your Kids Live Here) campaign. The campaign emphasizes children safety, and reminds drivers to watch their speed through neighborhoods. You can purchase this sign for $7 and display it on your lawn the week of September 1 thru September 8. (See attached) As there was no further, business to discuss a motion was made by James Bauer and seconded by James Turcich to adjourn the meeting at 9:50 pm. The Board was polled. All AYES.
