This is the fourth time IPO has conducted this survey. It incorporates many of the questions from IPO s 26, 29, and 211 benchmarking surveys. The data for this 213 survey was collected March 21, 213 to May, In some industries, the response rate was extremely low. While the data for those industries is not as meaningful as others, the data is presented in a format similar to the 211 survey report to enable comparison. 3. The survey was developed by IPO s Corporate IP Management Committee with the help of the IPO staff. We extend special thanks to Katherine Umpleby and Harry Gwinnell as well as Russell Binns, Barry Brager, Shawn Foster, Neil Kardos, Hanna Kim, MIchael Kramer, Kelsey Milman, Noam Pollack, and Nancy Zoubek. 4. The survey respondents were primarily Chief Patent Counsel and Chief IP Counsel with responsibility for patents and trademarks at their companies. 213 IPO Corporate IP Management Benchmarking Survey Page 1
