REFLECT REFLECT à ASSESS à DESIGN The first step in designing the best home for YOU actually involves reflecting on what you have now (or have had in the past). This can be invaluable in your new home design! Reflecting on what worked well, which things were inconvenient, and identifying those areas that were downright annoying will help guide us all moving forward. We suggest you reflect on these questions to get a good understanding of your current situation: Why are you thinking it is time to move to a new home? Consider lifestyle changes, family changes, inconveniences with the home, etc. What do you like about your current neighbourhood? Consider local amenities, parks, recreation, schools, access to work, neighbours, etc.

3 What do you dislike about your current neighbourhood? What is it that you really don t like about the home you are in right now? What causes you frustration in your current home? If you were going to renovate your current home, where would you spend it? What are some of the things about your current home that you would bring over to the new home if you could? Do you have any issues with lack of storage in your home? Consider your garage, closets, mudrooms, basement, bathrooms, etc.

4 How would you rate your satisfaction level from 1-10 in the following areas (with 10 being the highest satisfaction). We take the best of the best and fix the rest! Lets assess the following questions to help guide us in the new home design: After reflecting on your current home, what are some things that have to change for your new home? What are some things that you would like to keep the same in your new home? Are there any items you want to consider for the new home based on your lifestyle? Consider children, activities, entertaining, storage, etc.

5 Are there certain areas of the home that are really important to you? Can you describe them? What are some of the MUST HAVE items for your new home? Only list items that will make a break the home for you. For instance, you will not own a home unless it has these features. What are some NICE TO HAVE items for your new home? Please rank them on a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being the most important). Use only the spaces you need below. You don t need to fill in each space. Floor plan inspirations: Whether you are planning a fully customized home or a new home based on an existing floor plan, it is always a great idea to look at floor plans to identify what could work well for you. 7 Style inspirations: How would you describe your preferred style of home in your own words? The last step before meeting with our interior designer involves collecting inspiration photos from various sources. This could include the Lexis website gallery, Houzz.com, Pinterest.com, website searches, magazines (Dwell, etc). We suggest you save photos for key areas of the home listed below. Once you have collected all of your inspirations, review them multiple times and shorten the list down to your top 3-4 per area.
