1 Me Time My Organized Chaos

2 Why? We, us mamas, we are human too. We need downtime and time to relax, time to do the things we love, time to exercise our brains and our bodies, time to nourish ourselves so that we are in the best position possible to care and nurture for our family. Have you ever noticed that when mama gets sick, the whole place falls to rack and ruin? By looking after ourselves and putting ourselves first for a change, it means that we are less likely to get sick, crack under pressure or fail at being a mom because we are stronger in mind, body and soul.

3 I Don t Have Time! This is probably the biggest complaint I hear, so I want to stamp out that excuse right now. We all have the same hours in a day, how we choose to fill them is up to us. What it all really comes down to is getting your priorities in order, we can all make space for 10 minutes to sit and enjoy the moment or do some meditation, whatever rocks your boat. There are always going to be things to cross off your to-do list so instead, put the list down and take a break, the washing up/ironing/dusting will still be there (unfortunately) after you have done, so celebrate yourself instead.

4 What s The Point? Well, it s the knock on effects. By taking 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there just for YOU, you will feel happier, you will feel more attractive and it will lift your mood which obviously affects everyone else you are around. None of it needs fancy sports equipment or expensive gym membership just a change of priorities. It s not just about getting your weight down and fitting into a size whatever dress. It s also what you eat and what goes on in your head. You can have a super healthy lifestyle but if you have nothing but negative talk going on between your ears then it pretty much wasted which brings me to

5 The Biggest Reason Is... You are setting an example for your kids. If your kids see you stressed out, functioning purely on caffeine and chocolate, constantly rushing around and trying to finish that darn to-do list, then they will believe that this behavior is normal. For them it is and they are likely to follow the same path. Wouldn t it better if they saw their mom as someone who takes care of herself, loves to take time out of the routine for some fun, whether is be a 5 minute dance party jam in the kitchen or savouring a cup of tea whilst sat in the sun? Someone who has her own interests and hobbies and believes that she is more important than dirty dishes or unmade beds?

6 Wouldn t it be great if your kids heard you say how much you love your hair, the way your skin creases when you smile or how pretty you feel when wearing a particular outfit. Isn t that nicer than them hearing you say how much you hate your jiggly bits, how you feel fat in your jeans or how you hate your wrinkles? So, are you ready for your challenge?

7 Challenge #1 It s time to remember what it is you LOVE doing. What are your passions, your interests? What fills you up, makes you feel whole? Depending on your learning style, you might want to do this exercise with a pen and paper as a brainstorm or make it more visual like a vision board, totally up to you. As you do this, think about why you stopped doing a particular thing, yes, kids can throw a spanner in the works but we often use them as an excuse too! When you have finished, share your finished page with the facebook group

12 Schedule It! Now it s time to start scheduling some of those things in for you. Me time doesn t mean taking 3 hours out of your day to go to the gym (although it can do), just taking 10 minutes to sit and enjoy a chapter of a book or a 20 minute soak in the bath is a way to start pampering yourself. As I ve said before, if it s not in the schedule is ain t going to happen so make sure you do schedule time to meet up with friends, take time to visit an art gallery or whatever it is that lights you up A happy mom means a happy home!

13 Challenge #2 On the next page you will find a list of mini challenges, most of these take little to no time at all so you have NO EXCUSE! Yep, that is me putting on my bossy-pants voice there! Your mission is to do three, yep, I said 3! of these mini challenges a day. Oh My Gosh, will the world end if you start thinking about yourself 3 times a day? Of course not but you will feel a whole lot better. They are quick, they are easy and you re gonna love it.

14 The Mini Challenges Wear your best undies, no one will know but it will make you feel sexier! Watch the sunrise/sunset Wear something you normally don t wear Style your hair differently (mommy ponytail doesn t count!) Give yourself a squirt of perfume Take 10 minutes and meditate Sit, eyes closed and concentrate on your breathing for 5 deep breaths (you can do this on the loo!) Pop on some music and dance like nobody is watching Give yourself a facial or at least a facemask Call your friend for a chat and catch up Stand in front of the mirror and tell yourself all the Treat yourself to a fancy bar of chocolate, eat a square or two a day, savour the taste things you love about yourself, from the twinkle in your eyes to your cute little toe! When you get in the car put on YOUR favourite CD Go for a walk Do your make-up Have a bubble bath sans kids, preferably with a nice glass of something Treat yourself to flowers either from the garden or the shop Put your feet up for 10 minutes and enjoy a magazine or some light reading Make a cuppa and sit and enjoy it, with no distractions

15 Finally... So my final tip is to think before you speak, think about the impression your kids are getting when you start to put yourself down and then turn it round and find something positive instead. Think of you first and if that isn t enough, think of your kids!
