2 Notes: (con't) "Tired eyes are closed On earth's sorrow and woe God called the tired spirit, And now it must go. Tired hands are folded Upon the still breast, other has gone to heaven and rest." Eliza Jane Hinton was born June 10th, 1836, died September 21st, In her teens she was baptized and joined the Hannegan Christian Church, still maintaining her faith. She was united in marriage to Joseph Leisure January 23rd, To this union was born seven children, four of whom, with the father, preceded her to the great beyond - James W., John P. and Noah J. One son died in infancy. She leaves behind one daughter, rs. ary Frances EAY, and two sons, Lee W. and Oliver Carr Leisure, with a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, and one sister, rs. ary Laughlin, to mourn her loss. Her life was a beautiful one, filled with sweetness, which comes to those who serve the Lord. She died loving and trusting the One who had been her strength and guide so many years. She was a true and devoted wife and a dear and loving mother and now since she waits for us over there we feel 'tis only a step to the other side. "When all earthly troubles are o'er, And we lay down the cross we've carried so long For a crown we'll wear evermore, 'Tis only a step to the other side And a pale spirit leads us o'er. 'Tis death, the same spector that met our friend And silently led her o'er. 'Tis only a step to the other side, And the loved ones gone before, To life everlasting and joys untold And heaven for evermore." Lee W. Leisure Lee was a butcher by trade. He moved from Indiana to Pleasanton, Kansas where he met and married innie Nantz. They had six sons. In 1902, Lee went to Coffeyville, Kansas to look for work leaving innie and the children in Pleasanton. At a later date, he returned for them but innie refused to go with him. As a result, they were separated and apparently divorced (not documented yet) because Lee later remarried and had two more sons in Bartlesville, Oklahoma Oliver Carr Leisure From Jane ohar scrapbook: "Uncle Carr Leisure / Uncle Carr was caught beneath the plow shares when he and an employee attempted to run the tractor onto a block in order to change a tire. The tractor lunged forward and he was caught beneath the plow shares."
