We know it extended that far south from a grant at the mouth of the Hiwassee River in present day Rhea County, Tennessee. These records are taken from various sources such as grants, deeds, marriage records, church records, biographies, and general histories of the area. There are other records for this county but the dates do not match our parameters. Most of the records used were from our private collection of Tennessee material as well as from libraries and the State Archives. TN-1444 $29.00 DECATUR COUNTY, TENNESSEE - SURVEY BOOK # W. P. A. 3 KNOX COUNTY, TENNESSEE - COUNTY COURT MINUTES BOOK W.P.A pages - soft covers - full name index -. Knox County, located in mid-east Tennessee, was created out of Greene and Hawkins Counties in 1792 and named for Henry Knox the first United States Secretary of War. These pages contain the actions of the Knox County Court for the year 1869 which was a year that the county was trying to recover from the war between the States. This court made arrangements to have roads built, and changed as needed. It also received the reports of guardians and settlements of estates. A lot of records are given here. TN-1447 $15.50 SUMNER COUNTY, TENNESSEE - CEMETERY RECORDS - W.P.A. Records - 84 pages - soft cover - full name index -. Sumner County, in middle Tennessee, was created in1786 and named for Jethro Sumner, an American Colonist who defended North Carolina against the British in1780. These records are a combination of those pages of the W.P.A. materials sent to the State Archives when the project ended in 1940 and those pages not returned to the Archives but retained by the State Supervisor of the total project for further work. In the 1980s, Mountain Press purchased those non-returned files from the estate of the State Supervisor and in that collection were a large number of these records found in this volume. The total cemeteries cataloged by the W.P.A. was about 126 in all. Most of these are small plots located on various farms around the county. To our surprise, we find there are a large number of persons buried in this county who were born in the 18 th century and many fought in the American Revolutionary War. TN-1454 $24.50 WASHINGTON COUNTY, TENNESSEE - TAX LIST W. P. A. Records pages - soft cover - full name index - Washington County is the oldest of the counties in eastern Tennessee following the admission of the State to the union. Since there are no census records for the county until 1830, the tax list are a valuable resource for names of those living in the area at the various times in history. This collection is of great interest during and following the War of Coupling this data with that of the 1840 Federal Census where the listing of veterans of the American Revolutionary War and the War of 1812 are noted with their name and age is vital to our understanding of the time and people in the area. In this volume, the taxes are collected in the militia companies under the name of their Captain. These companies became to basis for the later Civil Districts established by the State in We have included a catalog of those Captains and the years of the taxes collected under them. TN-1446 $45.00 WAYNE COUNTY, TENNESSEE TAX AND CIVIL DISTRICTS - 30 pages - soft cover - full name index Wayne County, located in west Tennessee on the Alabama, was created in 1817 and named for General Mad Anthony Wayne.
