Chapter 1 Finding And Researching A Niche To Dominate Before you can build your website offering affiliate products, you will need to narrow down the niche, or subject, which the site will be about. The crucial step here is to find out exactly what it is people are searching for, and prepared to buy. That's key! One of the greatest advantages of the internet is that it gives you so much free market research, if you know where to look for it. 43things.com One of the very best websites, that is used by so many of the top marketers in the industry, is This is a site where people write about things they would like to do. Secret Tip: The one thing you can be sure of is that if people desperately want to do something, a good percentage of those people will be prepared to pay money for information that helps them to do it. 43things operates with what are called 'tags'. Let's have a look how this works. Log on to and you will see something like this...

4 As you can see, on the front page of 43things, there are things which people want to do, written in fonts of varying size, underlined. The one that sticks out like a sore thumb on this particular page is obviously travel the world, and indeed countless books and magazines are sold on world travel topics every single day. If you refresh the screen a few times, you will see different tags come up. Any one of the major tags is bound to have tons of products about the subject, which are selling on the affiliate networks. You can promote these products for a big commission! Make a list of any of the tags which appeal to you, and just pick one to start with. You can go back and try some of the others later, since the method in this book is completely repeatable.

5 43things is, effectively, free market research. The people using the site are telling you what it is they need information on. The bigger and more bold the tag, the higher the number of people who are demanding information. The next step is to have a look at another site which gives you free market research. This site is, if anything, more important, as it actually tells you what people are BUYING. They give you real data and statistics. It is, in fact, one of the sites which we will be joining to sell products from, Clickbank is the largest seller of digital products on the internet. You will see that there are tabs at the top saying Promote Products, and Buy Products. Although we will be promoting products later, for now we want to click on Buy Products to do some market research.

6 When we do this, we are taken to the screen below. Clickbank products are sorted into categories and subcategories, so we now need to search for what we are looking for. Assuming we are going to go with travel the world as our subject, one of the very bold tags we found on 43things, we need to select Society & Culture from the first drop down menu, and then select Travel from the second.

8 Select Travel When you have selected these options, click Go, and Clickbank will show you the ten highest volume sellers in that marketplace. You can dig down deeper if you want, by clicking Next. This is free market research again, this time telling you exactly what people are buying. These are proven sellers! Have a look at the listings in the screenshot below. Here, you will find that there are two products in the first ten selections which are teaching the user to speak Spanish. That is a sure indicator that there is a demand for this information. Let's assume, then, that we have decided to produce a website to help people speak Spanish. That is our sub-niche within the overall travel the world niche.

9 Now that we have found the subject for our website, all we have to do is create it. It's easier than you think!

10 Chapter 2 Creating Your Niche Website This is a step which you may initially have been a little frightened of. Me? Start a website? I don't know the first thing about HTML, web design, hosting, domain registration, SQL databases, Cascading Style Sheets or Server Side Includes! Don't worry, you don't have to. With Blogger, which is a blogging platform now owned by Google itself, you can create your own website easily and quickly, and without investing a single penny. Google allows people set up free blogs, because most people who do so will take advantage of Google's contextual advertising program, Google Adsense. This is a system where merchants pay to have their advertisements displayed on website pages, such as your blog, and every click that those advertisements get makes money for both the publisher and Google themselves. Google Adsense is not directly a part of the system contained in this book. Whether you choose to incorporate it is up to you. I don't recommend using ads in this system, only because it distracts your visitors from clicking on your affiliate links! Secret Tip: Would you rather make a $20 affiliate commission or a 9 cent click on one of your ads? That's why we hardly ever use Google AdSense... So, now we will set up our free blog. If you don't have a Google account, you will need to sign up for one. It is free and easy. Firstly, go to If you already have a Google Account, you can type in your Username and

11 Password and log on. If you don't just click on the arrow that says Create Your Blog Now, and you will be taken to the page where you can create your account. Click on the arrow that says Create Your Blog Now, and you will see the page below. You will need to type in a valid, pre existing address, and a password of at least 8 characters. You will also need a display name for your posts. This can be your own real name, or a pen name, or just a nickname. It doesn't matter. Once you have done this, you will have to agree to the terms by checking the box, and fill in the captcha to verify that you are a real person.

12 Fill this screen in to create your account. You will then go through to part two, which is Name your blog.

13 Here, you need to give your blog a name. In fact, you really need to give it two names. One is the Blog Title, which is seen at the top of the page, and the other is the actual URL (Uniform Resource Locator) by which the blog will be found. Both the URL and the Title should contain keywords which are relevant to your subject. The URL must be unique and available. If someone else is already using it, you can't. All blogs hosted on Blogger have a URL which ends.blogspot.com Wouldn't it be nice, for our Spanish example, if was available? Type it in to the URL box and see...

14 I am actually very surprised that this URL is available, but it is, so I'm going to grab it. Fill in the captcha, and click the arrow that says Continue.

15 You are then taken through to the page where you can choose a template. Minima is selected by default, but you can choose any of the others. Minima is my favorite, as it is clean and simple, so I will use it. Once you have selected your template, click the arrow that says Continue.

16 You should now see a screen like this, which shows you that you have successfully created a blog! Now that you have your own website set up on the internet, you can begin to promote products on which you will get paid a commission. That will be the focus of your business.

17 Chapter 3 Finding Products To Promote Finding products to promote should be the easiest thing in the world to do, if you have done your research well. What you will need to do for the purposes of this system, is find two similar products. You can then write a review comparing these products. Firstly, we need to go back to Clickbank, and this time select Promote Products, to sign up as an affiliate. Go to Clickbank's home page (type in ) Click on Promote Products

18 Here, you are given a four step process to go through to become a Clickbank affiliate, which we will now go through. Click on Sign Up.

19 Fill out the Clickbank sign up form, making sure that you have filled in all of the required fields, as you can't proceed without them. Make sure your address is correct, as Clickbank only pays by sending checks through the mail, and you won't want them to go to the wrong house! The second step, Search the Clickbank marketplace for products to promote, you have already followed in doing your research. The third step, Incorporate our simple hoplink into your marketing campaign, involves you in creating your own personal affiliate link, so that you can be credited with any sales that come from your webpages. The hoplink needs to take the form -

20 You create your hoplink by clicking on the link below the product, in the marketplace, that says create hoplink. The publisher part will already have been created by the creator of the product, and the affiliate part will be your nickname that you signed up to Clickbank with. There is another emerging network which is very similar to Clickbank, except that it pays directly to your PayPal account. This is You can sign up for this network, if you choose to, and access even more possible products to promote.

21 I have just searched the Society & Culture section, for possible Spanish language programs, and found nothing, so we will be sticking with the two programs we found on Clickbank.

22 Chapter 4 Writing Your Post To Promote Your Products Now that we have found our two products to promote, we need to write a post for our blog which will compare the benefits of both products, giving the reader an informed insight into which one to choose. Secret Tip: There's a very big key to writing the review of these two products. Listen carefully... When you write these reviews, rate one just slightly better than the other one. So, for example, make up your own rating system and rate one of the products with 5 stars and the other one with 4 ½ stars. Typically, I would make the cheaper product of the two the one with 5 stars. (There are exceptions, of course. Take into account the quality of the sales page, for example. Would YOU buy it?) Even though you'll make less money per sale, you'll make a LOT more sales and you'll seem more legitimate, since you are actually recommending a product that saves the customer money. Wouldn't you buy from someone like that? Of course, if each product has benefits not found in the other one, there is always the chance that some people will buy both! Be sure to point these benefits out... The first product in our example, Learning Spanish Like Crazy, is specifically aimed at Latin American Spanish. It pays a very nice $66.04 per sale. The second product is Learn How To Speak Spanish. It is a one month course that pays $ There is quite a bit of difference between the two products, so it should not be difficult to write a short review, helping the reader to find which product will be most suitable for them. Just go to and log in to your account.

23 Under where it says Dashboard, your blog will be listed. Click on the part that says New Post, and you will see this Writing your review couldn't be simpler. You have a title field for the title of your post, and the rest is just one giant field into which you can type your review. The post title should mention the subject title of the products you're reviewing, which would be how to learn spanish. Just use a title similar to that for maximum effectiveness it's not too important. The only slightly complicated part is the most important part of all, and

24 that is, of course, creating the links that will take the reader through to the sales pages for the products, INCLUDING YOUR AFFILIATE LINK. Use the format we show you below! If this is not set up correctly, you won't make a single dime. This can be very, very discouraging! But first, let's type your brief review into the field given. You don't have to worry about making it too long. Within your review, just look at the bullet points on each sales page and compare and contrast. Talk about what benefits both have, how fast you'll learn spanish (or get rid of your smoking habit, etc.), the price point (how much), and what sort of complications there will be if they don't solve whatever problem their having. For example, if you're trying to convince them to buy a stop smoking product, then simply tell them how much every cigarette reduces their life. Do a little research and get real data and you'll be a lot more credible! I would put these on a post-it note to refer to every single time you write a review: What Benefits How Fast What Complications How Much Elaborate on these and you'll have a killer review. As a general rule of thumb, ask yourself this would the review convince YOU to buy? Now, at the end of your review, put something like To find out more about xxxxxxxxxxxx, CLICK HERE The CLICK HERE is the text that will then be hyperlinked, so that the reader can click on the link, and go to the sales page, through your affiliate link, giving you credit for creating the sale.

25 Now, where you have typed CLICK HERE, highlight the text.

26 Next, click on the button at the top of the post, five in from where it says Font. If you hover your mouse over it, the text should say Link. Clicking on this button should produce a text field input, with already entered. Here, insert your hoplink, making sure that it is in the format we found earlier Click OK and you will have a hyperlink in your post. Do this for both of the hyperlinks. They should appear blue, and underlined, as below.

27 Now, you are ready to click Publish Post. A useful tip if you are thinking of adding further posts, which will help with search engine rankings, then be sure to date your original post to some day in the future. This will keep the post as a sticky, at the top of the page, which is exactly where you need it. To date your post, click on Post Options at the bottom, and you can edit the date from there. When you are done, click Publish Post Be sure to test your links!

28 There you can see the final created webpage. Anyone can now click through from there to your merchants' sales pages, and purchase the products which will give you a commission. What you now need to do is find a way of driving people to your blog. It would be nice if we could get paid for doing it as well, wouldn't it?

29 Chapter 5 Writing Articles For Money, And To Drive Traffic Article marketing is one of the most established, trusted, and certain ways to drive traffic to a website. Not only that, it can be done for free provided you write the articles yourself. If you are going to write the articles yourself, then you will need some basic guidelines to get you started, so that you are not taking too much time over writing the articles. It is possible to write a good 400 word article in around minutes, with practice even possibly a bit less. With the project we have in mind here, you have one massive advantage. Because you will be writing a lot of related articles, all on the subject that we researched earlier, you will not to spend as much time on research as if you were writing from scratch. What you need to do is write 10 articles on the subject area that we researched earlier. In the example, it was learning to speak Spanish. The articles here need to be on different aspects of the main topic. Here, there could be an article on why formal grammar can actually make you sound unnatural in a social situation, an article on the differences between Spanish and other Romance languages like Italian, an article on how expatriates can learn Spanish in a country where the natives speak it, even an article on how modern audio players have made it so easy to learn languages whilst running or jogging. Your imagination is the limit. Secret Tip: If you run short of product ideas, take a look at the bullet points in the sales letters of the products you are promoting in your review. They should give you way more than 10 article ideas! You will save time by having articles related to each other. Often, the same piece of research can be used in more than one article. You can also save time by structuring your articles in the most recommended way...

30 Have an introduction which tells the reader what you are going to say. Then, you say what you have to say. Finally, you have a conclusion which basically tells the reader what you have just said. Obviously you can't just repeat sentences like a parrot, but have a look at the articles on the top article directories, you would be surprised how many of them follow this basic format. Repeat this at least ten times. You don't have to do it all at once, but you can crank out several articles in a matter of hours and make real cash with them. Obviously, the more articles you make, the more money you're going to make. Once you have these articles written, continue on to the next chapter. (Note: You don't need to link to your review blog just yet. We'll talk more about that later. First, you're going to get some instant cash for your articles.) Secret Tip: Yes, I know it's brutal at first to write these articles. But you have to do grunt work and move your way up to really make an income. If you stick it out and just WRITE, you'll be amazed at just how much your efforts will pay off!

31 Chapter 6 Where To Submit Articles For Money Remember when I said that it would be nice to get paid for promoting our own products? Well, that is just what we are about to do. Sadly, the next part of this report is only usable by USA citizens or residents. If you are not from the USA, you will have to bypass this section, and move to Constant Content Associated Content If you are a USA citizen or resident, log on to This is a site which allows qualifying people (USA citizens or residents) to submit content for payment. This payment will be made direct to your

32 PayPal account. If you can submit 50 articles in a month (that is repeat this system just 5 times), you will earn between $150 and $1000 without even needing to make one sale of an affiliate product via your blog. Secret Tip: AssociatedContent pays for your material based on the quality of your article. The longer and better written it is, the more you'll make: their pay range is between $3 and $20 per article! How many businesses do you know where you can be in profit without even making a single sale? Constant Content Unlike Associated Content, Constant Content is usable by virtually anyone. You just need to have either a PayPal account, or a 2Checkout account. Constant Content does not pay you directly. They are more of a middleman, putting your article up so that people who need content can come and find it. When somebody uses your content and pays for it, you are then paid as a result. You get paid on the first day of every month, provided you have earned over $50. One thing, if you type the URL in, make sure to include the -. The URL is

33 Another similar site you can use is at This one does not pay by check or 2Checkout, only PayPal. Although there is no definite payment for any article on Constant Content or Helium, more popular topics are likely to command higher pay rates. That is good for us, as our research is designed to find commercially popular topics.

34 Which of these sites you submit your articles to will depend on your own personal circumstances. If you live in the USA, or are a US citizen, you should probably use Associated Content. If you need to be paid by PayPal, you can use Constant Content or Helium. If you live in a country that doesn't support PayPal, you will need to use Constant Content, and be paid by 2Checkout. Whichever option you choose, you should not, for this system, choose anything that gives anyone a unique or exclusive right to publish. This is because we want to publish substantially similar articles to the article directories.

35 Chapter 7 Submitting Articles To Article Directories This is one of the most effective ways to drive traffic to your websites. When you submit an article to a directory, you are allowed to include a bio box, or resource box, at the bottom. This contains one or more links to your own websites. The largest and best known of these article directories is Ezinearticles, at As you can see, Ezinearticles has articles grouped into many different categories. For our example, we need to find articles written about learning Spanish. Strangely enough, this time they are not in the Travel And Leisure section, but in Arts and Entertainment.

36 Unless you are writing about a very 'way out' subject, you will almost certainly find articles already on Ezinearticles about your subjects. These are your competition. Don't worry about them, just try and learn what it is that the successful authors on sites like these are doing. Just click on Submit Articles, and you will come to this form - Fill it out and create your account. Make sure the bio box or resource box is well written and strong, and directs the reader to your blog. The resource box must obviously contain the link to your blog, or else there is no point publishing the article in the first place! One good tip is to write your bio box which outlines a problem, and then only hints at a solution, without giving anything much away. This way you can direct people to your blog to get the answers they need.

37 Remember, even though the bio box is where you're supposed to talk about who you are, spend the time instead to write about how badly they need to learn spanish (for example) and how they can learn more about the subject matter by visiting your review blog. For examples of powerful bio boxes that get lots of clicks, go ahead and check out Author Bio Box Domination available here: Ezinearticles has some pretty tough terms of service, which you will need to read. One of these is that no affiliate links are allowed in the resource boxes. That won't bother us, we are linking directly to our own blogs. One thing you do have to be very careful with Ezinearticles is to make sure that each article submitted is your own genuine, unique content. Never be tempted to submit a copy, or anything that you have only rewritten a small part of. Play by Ezinearticles' rules, and they will send you plenty of traffic. Secret Tip: To play by the rules, you just need to spend about 3 minutes re-wording some of your articles. Take 3 to 4 sentences from each of your articles and change the wording. This shouldn't take long and then you'll be abiding by the EzineArticles terms of services. Although Ezinearticles is known as the best of the article directories, it is by no means the only one. It is, however, the one which will drive the most traffic, all else being equal. If you want to expand by publishing to another directory, one of the best of the rest is

38 It isn't a necessary part of the system to submit to other directories, and certainly submitting to two won't double the traffic that you would get submitting to one. However, if your campaign is going really well from Ezinearticles, and your blog post is converting a good percentage of visitors into buyers, then it makes sense to try and drive as much traffic as you can to that page. Occasionally, you will score a home run... This is when an article gets used by people other than the article directory. When people use your article as content for their websites, they have to keep your resource box intact at the bottom of the article. If you can get your article picked up by a website with a lot of visitors, it could result in quite a traffic spike, and hopefully a lot of unexpected new orders.

39 So, the potential is there to make a lot more than the bare $500 a month from this system. In fact, you should only make the bare minimum if you have no sales at all, and are just getting money by submitting your article to AssociatedContent. Don't be surprised to see random sales trickling in for a long time after your article is published. The articles will stay on the directories, and you never know when someone will be searching for just exactly what you have provided.

40 Chapter 8 The Next Step, And Possible Expansion So, what do you do next, apart from tracking your campaign and cashing your checks? Well, the obvious answer is to repeat the steps before, and begin to build a huge portfolio of websites, all of which have the potential to bring you regular income. As well as doing this, there are other ways you could consider expanding your business, and possibly going full time. Create your own product! If you find a subject that is converting extremely well, why not join Clickbank from the other side, and create your own product? You will already have done a lot of niche research in the steps before. Anyone can create a PDF ebook just like this one just by using the free software at Once the product is created, you need to pay a one off fee of $49.95 to list products on Clickbank, and then you can promote your own product on your blog! Not only that, but other people can sign up to Clickbank and promote your product, just as you did with other peoples' products earlier. Build a customer database If you find subject matter that is converting well, you will definitely want to begin collecting names and addresses of your customers, so that you can create follow up mailings and send random s with upsells and other products related to the subject matter. All you need to be able to do this is an autoresponder service, and an opt in form placed on your blog. This is something you will have to pay for, but only around $20 per month unless you grow a list of 10,000+. Secret Tip: We highly recommend using Aweber, which is by far the most reliable of all the autoresponder systems.

41 If you wish to go on to do marketing full time, then your list will be your greatest asset, and you will need to not only build it, but put a lot of effort into keeping your customers subscribed.
