1 BONUS LESSON How To Set Goals With Kindle Lesson Overview In this lesson we re going to go over how to set goals with your Kindle business so that you can continue to scale up your earnings. In this lesson, we ll cover: S.M.A.R.T. Philosophy RPM Method Exercise S.M.A.R.T. Philosophy I make sure to use the S.M.A.R.T. philosophy for all of my goals. S.M.A.R.T. is an acronym for: Specific Measurable Attainable Realistic Timeline You want to make sure your goals are specific. If it isn t clear and specific, then it will be impossible for you to achieve it. You can t just say, I want to make more money with Kindle or I want to have more books published. That doesn t work. Instead, you want to be specific about HOW MUCH money you want to be making and HOW MANY books you want to have published. Clarity is power.

2 You want to make sure your goals are measurable. Your goal must be something that you can come back to and check in on, to ensure that you re making progress. You can t manage something if you don t measure it! By having that specific number of books you want to have published and amount of earnings you want to make, you can then manage that goal and change your action plan if necessary. You want to make sure our goals are attainable and realistic. If you set too unrealistic goals, you re setting yourself up to fail. There s no point setting a goal to be making $1000/month, when meanwhile you haven t even made $1 or $100/month. You want to create goals that give you confidence that you can achieve them, rather than having you doubt that it s even possible. My recommendation is to start small. Through going through this program, you ll most likely start with publishing 1 book. With that 1 book, make it a goal to first earn $1 with it. Once you ve achieved that, set the next goal to be $50 or $100/month. Once you achieve that, raise it to $200/month and perhaps having 2 books published. Keep raising your goal once you achieve it, publishing more books and raising your goal of earnings. This is exactly what I did and I climbed my way to thousands of dollars per month. I have now more confidence than ever and am able to set bigger goal. You want to make sure your goals have a timeline. A timeline, or deadline, gives you a date when you need to have that goal achieved by. It will create pressure and a sense of urgency for you, helping you to take immediate action to reach that goal. Without a timeline you have no reason to take action today. It s similar during school where you have a specific date when you need to have your homework done by or a project is due. You will always find a way to get it done because of that deadline. RPM Method The method that I ve always used to set my goals has been called the RPM Method by Tony Robbins. RPM stands for Results, Purpose, Massive Action. You ll want to make sure you take out a pen and paper and write down what your goals are.

3 Result What is the specific result or outcome that you re after? Again, make sure you follow the S.M.A.R.T. philosophy and language your goal in a way that it s compelling. Here s some examples of how I d write a goal for Kindle. I will easily make $1 with Kindle and have 1 book published by July 1, I will easily make $100/month with Kindle and have 2 books published by July 1, Get the idea? I always make sure I have the amount of money I want to make, the number of books published, the timeline, and even language it in a way that says I will easily. Since Kindle only shows 6 week royalties, you may want to modify your goal to something like: I will easily make $100 every 6 weeks with Kindle and have 2 books published by July 1, It s useful to have longer term goals as well, such as 3-month and 1-year. Purpose What are the reasons why you re after this outcome? Why do you want this? Why will you do whatever it takes? The more reason that you can have, the better. Your purpose is the FUEL that will get you to take massive action towards your goal. Some examples are: To be able to be financially free. To be able to quit my job. To be able to buy new clothes. To be able to have my expenses paid for every month. To be able to buy a nice car.

4 So that I never have to work for someone ever again. So that I can do what I want, when I want. So that I can travel the world and do what I love. Get the idea? I d make sure to have a list of at least 15 reasons why you ll do what it takes to achieve this goal. This is what will help give you that extra motivation and remind yourself why you re doing this. Massive Action Plan What is your massive action plan to achieve this goal? What steps do you need to follow in order to reach this goal? This is where you ll break down what you need to DO in order to reach your outcome. You want to be clear and specific about it. You might write down: Publish 1 book per week. Outsource the books to my writer every Monday. Order e-covers from Fiverr every Monday. Get 6 review for each book. Do free promotion for each book and promote on Twitter and Facebook. Got it? Just make the list of what needs to be done to achieve the goal and cross it off every time you ve completed an action step. I ve found it useful to have this RPM written out where you can see it everyday. Put it up on your wall and make sure that you re checking in regularly to see how you re doing with it. You should be reminding yourself of these goals daily. As long as you do that, you will achieve them!

5 Exercise The exercise in this lesson is to take out a pen and paper and write out your goals for the next month, 3 months and year using this RPM method and the S.M.A.R.T. philosophy.
