1 Self-Discovery And You Good to see you! I'm glad you're here. My name is Mark Myhre. The purpose of this short report is to help you learn more about yourself; to really dig deep into what makes you tick. Why do you do the things you do? And what can you do to change things? That's what I hope to answer. The name of this report is Power Processing - The Self Discovery Tool. 'Processing' refers to getting out paper and pen and doing free-association writing. Specifically, that means to just put the pen to the paper, and let the words come out. Don't think about what you're going to say - just write! I've personally done this on about 20,000 sheets of paper (at least!) and I can say from personal experience it's been the single best physical activity I've ever done, in terms of self-discovery. Not only did I get to know myself a LOT better, I was also able to clear out so much fluff and froth and emotional turmoil. It ended my anxiety. It helped clear out the raging anger I used to suffer from. It reduced the fear to almost nothing. It even helped end the self-pity! And the hurt and pain as well. Free-association writing is different from journaling. With a journal, you're usually slower, and more deliberate. You think about what you're going to say. It's kind of a chronicle of your life over time. Useful, of course, but not the same as free-association writing. Copyright 2017, Mark Ivar Myhre 1

2 I've never seen anything substitute for free-association writing. Do it regularly and faithfully, and it will save you years of therapy! I was an emotional train wreck when I first started processing... but slowly, surely, I started to clean out all the garbage inside me. It can't do everything, of course... but it's one of four basic personal development tools. If you're sincerely on a self-discovery path (and I assume you are since you're reading this!) then you'll also want to work with all the 'different parts of you' such as your inner child, your subconscious mind, your shadow, and your ego... to name a few. Thirdly, you may also want to focus on meeting your needs. Your true 'human needs' are emotional in nature. I'm referring to the emotional energies that help us grow and change and become more of ourselves. They are: Safety, security, belonging, valuing (which includes love and esteem), knowingness, beauty, and spirituality. Usually, people try to meet these needs in some one or some thing out in the world. Which ultimately never works. If you'll focus on feeling these energies inside yourself... filling yourself with them... then you'll be much freer to do what you really want to do out in the world. The fourth and final component of basic personal development I'll mention is programming what you want. One way to do this: create an emotionally-charged vision, and hold it in your imagination. But before you do that, you'd be well-advised to first work on the other three: processing, getting to know the other parts of you, and meeting your needs. Copyright 2017, Mark Ivar Myhre 2

3 And it all starts with processing. Before we get to Power Processing, it helps to have a good understanding of basic processing first. If you've never tried it before, you might be pleasantly surprised at how effective it is at getting down deep into what you really think and feel. Here's how to make processing most effective: 1. Be willing to not edit or even think about what you're writing down on the paper. It would be great if you weren't even looking at the page, but of course that's not practical. It would also be great if you were completely distracted from the writing, such as by watching TV. Again, not practical. But you get the point. Don't worry about what's coming out as you write. Don't even focus on it, if possible. Just focus on putting words on the paper. Write down whatever pops into your head. Try not to stop and think about what's being said. Just write! 2. Be willing to get intense. Whenever I talk to someone who says they're not getting anywhere with their processing... that they seem to be just going in circles... it's usually because of a fear of intensity. They just don't want to go deep. So they 'stay on the surface' with their writing, rather than really letting the hidden emotions come up. The key here is to give yourself permission to get intense. Say it, declare it, demand it of yourself! 3. Be willing to not censure yourself. Some people I've talked to are worried about writing the 'wrong' thing. They don't want to get negative, for fear of making the negative thoughts and feelings grow stronger. Ironically, it's the exact opposite. When you don't let the negative stuff come up, it tends to grow and fester and get more intense. (That's the situation I was in, when I first started processing.) Copyright 2017, Mark Ivar Myhre 3

4 How would you feel if you got locked in the basement? You'd probably start banging on the ceiling! Trying to get somebody's attention. That's what happens when you lock away your negativity. If there was ever a time to 'let it all hang out' - this is it! You want to get intense. You want to let it all come out, with no judgment or editing or critiquing in any way. That's how you get the most out of processing. In fact, this is the one time where it's totally okay to let the suppressed negativity come out; it's the time to be totally uninhibited with your feelings. To let it be safe to feel what you really feel. Instead of what you're 'supposed' to be feeling. Let it be safe to feel when you write. When I first started processing, I didn't need a specific topic. I had WAY too much emotional garbage that was SO ready to come out! It's like I was walking around holding a glass full to the brim with a toxic sludge, and every time someone accidently bumped into my elbow it spilled out. All I had to do was hold the pen close to the paper, and as if by magnetic attraction, the words just started to flow. And they were not pretty. I'm sure I would have ended up on some sort of FBI watch list if the pages somehow got out. The sheer volume of pain and venom surprised even me. I had no idea... But my case was a little unusual. After talking to hundreds of people, I've come to realize most need to focus on a particular problem before they can really get going. It's hard to get started, sometimes, when you don't have a specific topic. You may wish to start with an emotionally charged subject. 'Me and My Mother' can be a good place to start. Or, whatever bugs you the most. What are you always thinking about? What's on your mind day and night? Start there! Copyright 2017, Mark Ivar Myhre 4

5 Okay, let's say you decide on a topic: 'Me and my coworker'. But you don't know how to begin or what to say. You're staring at a blank page. Nothing's happening. In that case, just start writing the first thing that comes to mind: "This is stupid. It's not going to work. I'm wasting my time. And I can't afford to waste time because I'm so far behind on this project. I never should have had to do this project. Bob was supposed to do it. He always gets to skate by. It's crazy. I work so hard and he does nothing..." And so it goes from there. If the exercise seems stupid and pointless and a huge waste of time... then write that down! And keep writing. Don't worry about whether or not you're doing it 'right'. If you're writing down whatever pops into your head, then you're doing it right. Just write and write and write until you run out of juice. It might be one page, or it could be twenty pages, or more. I can remember numerous times when I was new to this, that the first five or six pages would be only scribbles on the page, not words. Cause I was too pissed to write coherently. Likewise, when I was healing my anxiety. I'd be too scared to write words. So I'd fill up pages of scribbles instead. Once you're written everything you have to say, set the pages aside for a little while - perhaps an hour, or a day. Then you can go back over what you've written. If you discover new things - if you're surprised by what comes out, if it touches you emotionally in some way, then you did it right. The goal of processing is to 'get it out of you' - so you can see what's inside, so you can heal what needs to be healed, and release what needs to be released. Copyright 2017, Mark Ivar Myhre 5

6 Anyway, that's a basic overview of processing; to squeeze the orange so you can make orange juice. Now, let's look at Power Processing. Power Processing Power Processing is the name I've given to a very specific type of processing. What we're going to be doing is to look at six different energies, or raw materials: beliefs, attitudes, thoughts, feelings, choices, and decisions. With basic processing, you're focusing mostly on thoughts and feelings. Now, we're going to deliberately expand on those two, to include four more energies as well. Why these six? I first learned about the 'six raw materials' over twenty years ago, from the Lazaris Material. I was told all humans use these six energies to create their reality. Or, more specifically, we use them to manifest the physical. Everything we see is a coagulation of thought and feeling, choice and decision, and belief and attitude. No one can prove or disprove that theory. So it really comes down to what you want to believe. I choose to believe the theory is correct, simply because it seems to work for me. Plus, it 'covers all the bases' a lot better than just saying 'thoughts create reality'. I've been told, and my experience seems to confirm, that these six raw materials are always connected. And from what I can tell, beliefs always seem to have other energies attached to them, which explains why it's sometimes so hard to change a belief. Copyright 2017, Mark Ivar Myhre 6

7 The six raw materials we use to manifest reality: Negative beliefs always seem to have pain attached to them. When you brush up against the belief, you activate the pain. Which might explain why people tend to not want to examine what they believe. At any rate, for our purposes, you don't have to accept the basic theory to benefit from it. If you'll simply approach the exercise with an open mind, you can judge the results for yourself. At the very least, you'll learn a lot about yourself. This exercise has been life-changing for me... and hopefully you'll benefit as well. One of the most surprising things I've learned is that beliefs can change as easily as you change your thoughts, or your feelings. Beliefs are not written in stone. In fact, they can be quite fluid and flexible, as are the other five raw materials. That's how you change with elegance! Which may be the single most important point in this whole report. 8 Power Processing starts like any other processing. You'll need some paper and a pen and a topic. And by the way, you'll want to write this out, rather than type. I don't know why, but it just seems to work better when you put the pen to the paper. If you're like me, and you type twice as fast as you can write longhand... then it may seem less productive to write out your thoughts on paper like this. But there's just something about writing longhand that makes the whole exercise more productive. Anyway, on to the technique! First you pick a topic. While normal processing doesn't require you to select a specific topic to write about... you will need one here. Fortunately, the possibilities are endless. Me and my mother (or father) Me and my job Me and my new business Me and my boyfriend (or girlfriend!) Me and my spouse Me and getting divorced Me and getting married Me and my kids Me and losing weight Me and losing five pounds Me and getting enough sleep Copyright 2017, Mark Ivar Myhre 8

9 Me and making money (or saving money, or spending money) Me and making choices Me and my feelings Me and my fear Me and my pain Me and wasting time Me and having enough time Me and my time Me and exercising Me and being happy Me and managing other people Me and getting what I want (boy, was that an eye-opener for me!) Me and responsibility Me and freedom Me and love I've listed out these topics to give you something to think about. You might use one of them, or you might select something completely different. The good news is, you're just practicing. The key is to not take this too seriously. (Just like the key to a good life is to not take it too seriously!) If you can have fun with it, you'll have a much greater chance of following though and actually doing it. And getting the results you want. Anyway, once you've selected a topic, write it out at the top of a sheet of paper. And underneath it, write out the word - Beliefs. Copyright 2017, Mark Ivar Myhre 9

10 Then start free-association writing. Try not to over think it; just write out whatever comes to mind. The reason I suggested doing regular processing first, by the way, is because it's way too easy to get a bunch of fluff coming up first. If you find your initial statements seem to be a little too much ranting and raving, that's usually a good indication you may need to spend a little time getting that out of you first, then come back to specifically focus on beliefs. In the example below, I've copied my own notes on one of my own topics - getting testimonials for an e-book product I wrote Copyright 2017, Mark Ivar Myhre 10

11 And if you click on the link below, you'll see my raw notes for all six raw materials. As soon as I finish one sheet of paper, I fold it up and set it aside. I keep doing this until I've exhausted all possible beliefs, attitudes, etc. that come up for the topic. From my own example, I ended up with a total of 14 sheets of paper for the six energies. As you can see below, after a pause, I evaluate each statement in terms of whether or not it really is a belief, or attitude, or whichever raw material you're on. Copyright 2017, Mark Ivar Myhre 11

12 When you're first starting out with this technique, I'd suggest setting the papers aside before reviewing them. At least an hour, and perhaps a day. In general, the more you practice this, the less time you need to spend before reviewing what you've written. If you click on the link below, once again you'll see my own notes for all 14 pages. When you click on the link above, you'll see my raw notes as I go through and evaluate each statement. And by the way, these notes are from ten years ago, when this was fairly new to me. Now, after so... much... processing... (!), I would have less fluff or 'blather' and almost every statement would get right to the point. (Just to inspire you - hey, this gets a lot easier with practice.) Next, in the illustration on the next page, you'll see my notes as I have rewritten them. I've deleted every statement that is not an actual belief, or attitude, etc. And if you click on the link below the handwritten notes, you'll see I've done it with all six raw materials. Not only did I rewrite them, but after they're rewritten, I go back one more time, working to condense the statements even further. You'll see how I've taken the new list of statements, and condensed them down even a little further. The whole idea is to remove all the fluff and froth and duplication, and get down to the bottom line. Condense, condense, condense. What am I really saying to myself? What really matters here? 13 I want to end up with, at most, 7 statements per raw material. Or, it could only be two or three. Let it be what it is. Overall, when you consider all six raw materials, you may end up with 30 statement or so. Click the link below to see how I condense my notes for all six raw materials. 14 Now you've got something to work with! Even if you stop here, you've done enough to affect some sort of change. It's hard to write out this many condensed statements on a topic that bugs you, without it 'shaking you up' a bit. It will have an effect. You've brought up all the energies that were more or less hidden from view, and exposed them to the light. Now they're in plain sight. It's kind of like plowing the ground... you're setting the stage for the healing and changing. If you do nothing more than read them to yourself a few times, you'll likely dissolve some of the 'glue' that holds the statements intact. I'd suggest reading each one slowly, deliberately, and spending the time to own each of the statements. "This is my belief." "This is how I feel." Etc. Let it in: I am responsible for this statement. Really take the time to own every statement. Accept responsibility for it. Which makes it much easier for them to change. An optional, additional step involves condensing the statements even further. You could reduce each raw material to a single statement, so you'd end up with a total of six statements. Then, again, read the statements over and over until they lose their emotional charge. This could take a few minutes, or a few days. At some point, you're going to read the statement, and realize, "hey, I don't believe this!" Or, "I don't think this anymore." At that point, you can flip the statement around, to reflect what you'd like to believe, think, feel, etc. Copyright 2017, Mark Ivar Myhre 14

15 If you work with this as I have, you'll notice something funny. The more you read over your negative statements, the less 'juice' they have. Their energy dissipates. But as you read over your new, positive statements, they become more juiced. They take on more of your emotional energy, the more you read them over. The positive statements become more powerful. Don't ask me why! But I've seen it happen over and over again. If you wish to take things even further, you can condense each of your six statements down to a single word, as you can see in the example below. Write your topic in the middle, and surround them with a single word for each separate raw material. Then, keep the paper handy, so you can review it as often as you wish. To sum up, you have several different options as to how far you take the technique. One last point to keep in mind: when you bring up what's hidden from view, you allow the other parts of your consciousness to help heal it for you. Have fun with it, and let me know what happens!
