Your Podcast Interview Script Where do I start????????? Here are some suggested questions to work with. Select at least nine interview questions from this list and create one more on your own. Try not to use the answers that are given here. Use your own words in your interview. Question Example of a good answer Example of a bad answer 1. Tell us about yourself Talk about your strengths and work history Don t talk too long about personal things, talk about your experiences relating to 2. Why do you want this job? I enjoy this kind of work. I think I would be an asset to this company because 3. Why should we hire you? I am experienced, a hard worker, and I like to learn new things about this field 4. Why do you want to work for this company? 5. What experience do you have that relates to this job? 6. What are your weaknesses? 7. Tell about a successful experience you had on the job 8. Why did you leave your last job? 9. Why do you want to leave your current job? 10. Tell us about a problem you had at a job and what you did about it I support the objectives of this company and feel that I can add to the company s success Talk about any skills that you have that relate to the position that you are seeking. I tend to work too hard and over-analyze my work as I go along. I reorganized our filing system to make it more efficient I needed a now challenge I have learned so much at my current job, but now I am ready to learn new things at another company I had differing creative ideas than those of my team. We were able to talk things out and reach a compromise the job I want to make more money I really need a job Because you are hiring people and I need a job I can work every day and I can be nice to other workers. I don t get into other people s business unless they want me to. I can probably do whatever is asked of me I am cranky in the morning until I have had several cups of coffee and a cigarette I didn t get into trouble for coming in late because I know the woman in charge of the time cards I had a fight with my boss I hate my boss and I hate my job I told off my boss. He wouldn t listen to me when I tried to show him how he was wrong

11. Tell us about a mistake you made and what you would do differently 12. What are your career plans? 13. Where do you see yourself in five years? 14. Do you have any questions for us? I thought that I was given misinformation by a coworker and spoke to my boss before speaking to the coworker to clear things up. I later apologized to both parties for my mistake I would like to work to a managerial level within this company in five years I would like to have risen to a level of management where my particular skills can be most appropriately utilized Do not ask how much you would be paid if you were to be hired, or how many weeks vacation you can expect in your first year. Ask about the opportunity for growth within the company I blamed my coworker for something that I did. Next time I d blame several coworkers instead of just one I have no plans I don t know If you hire me, will I get a corner office?

Interview Tips suit resume professional contact hire employer slacks reference Directions: Fill in each blank with the word that best completes the reading comprehension. You have done all of the hard work. You have written your resume and the cover letter. You read it three times before you sent it in to make sure it was perfect. Now it is time for the last step. You have to go in for an interview. There are a lot of things that you can do before you go for an interview. These things can help you make a good impression. They can make the company want to give you the job you trying so hard to get. One of the first things you can do is dress well for the job. You should wear nice clothes that fit with the company. Never wear jeans to an interview. Look at the way other people in the company dress and dress like them. If you aren t sure how people at the company dress, visit before the interview. Men in an office are probably wearing (1), a tie, and maybe a (2) coat. The women are probable wearing nice dresses or dress pants. Wear nice shores to the interview. Never wear sneakers or casual shoes to an interview. Don t wait until the last minute to leave for the interview. You never know what could happen on the way. The car could break down or the bus could be late. Rushing to get there can make you nervous before the interview even starts. If you start early, it will help you stay calm. When you get to the interview, don t take a backpack or water bottles in with you. Also, don t take any food with you. This is messy. It is also wrong to eat or drink during the interview. You want to look (3) and ready to do the job. Don t be afraid to make yourself sound great. You want the company to (4) you. You need to give them reason to do that. Tell the person interviewing you why the company should hire you. Tell the things that you are strong at. An (5) likes people who know what they are good at. Before you go to the interview, make a list of the things you are good at. Memorize the list so you can remember it during the interview.

When the interviewer is asking questions, look him or her in the eye. Don t look at the floor or around the room. Make eye (6) when you are answering questions. This helps to show that you are confident and ready for the job. Smile when you can. You want to be friendly and show that you can work well with people. Try to relax. It will be hard because you are nervous. Just take a deep breath and do the best that you can. Make sure that you are ready when you get the interview. Have an extra copy of your (7) and your (8) list. Don t crumple your resume and put it into your pocket. Find a nice folder or notebook to put your resume in. This will keep it from getting wrinkled. When the interviewer is asking questions, don t say bad things about yourself or someone you used to work for. Don t talk about how you didn t like your last boss. Talk only about good things. Interviewers do not want to hear about the bad things that happened at your last job. Doing a little work before the interview will help you make sure that it goes well. The interview is the last step in getting that job. With a good resume and great interview, you are on your way to getting the job that you really want.

Think About Your Interview 1. Where should you look when the interviewer is asking you questions? A. In the interviewers eyes B. At the floor 3. You should leave early for your interview. A. True B. False 2. Where should you put your resume for the interview? A. In a nice folder B. In your pocket 4. What should you talk about during an interview? A. Bad things about yourself and your last boss B. Good things about yourself
