Not to mention that I myself have been using them with great success for my businesses. At first I had planned to put these in a specific order, but as I was writing the ebook I quickly realized that they all have their strong points. Each one can greatly increase your traffic if implemented correctly. So, here they are in no specific order. 1. From Your Customers This is by far the most effective traffic you could possibly generate and is easily accomplished by sending out one . If you have a large customer list you can sell new products every month to them. It goes without saying that it's ten times easer to sell a product to someone that already trusts you and has previously bought from you. The more customers you have, the more traffic you can generate with each you send them. The best part of all, is that the traffic that you receive from your customers is the most targeted traffic you could possibly generate. In this chapter you will learn how to build a customer list from scratch and how to effectively communicate with them once you start. 13

A Joint Venture is basically when two people join forces to form a partnership to jointly promote the same products. With a JV you can instantly double the exposure of your products and services by tapping into each others resources, opt-in lists, other business relationships, and advertising potential. Joint ventures are everywhere. Chances are you re in a Joint Venture right now. They can be as simple as I scratch your back and you scratch mine, to, I sell your $1,000 product and we'll split the profit. This list is made up of like-minded individuals that all have the same interest in a specific topic. The fact that they're all interested in the same topic makes them a targeted subscriber. A sublist is created when people opt-in to a mailing list to receive whatever you're offering, or are planning to offer. You see, you can announce to people that you're working on a project and if they're interested they can join a list. I love creating sublists. You're basically asking people to raise their hands if they're interested in a particular subject. Then you know who's interested in what. It puts them in a highly targeted list. Once you know what these people are interested in you can sell it to them. It's as simple as that. Hey, half the battle is finding your potential customers in the fist place. If you create a free report on every topic related to your business, you can sort each subscriber into that topic by sending out these reports and seeing who subscribes to what. And why just stop at what's related to your business? Have you ever wanted to promote a product or service, but had no idea if your customers would be interested? Or, what if your product is cheesecake and you wanted to sell an Internet marketing service? 15

Ebooks can be created in a way that makes them very viral. For example, if you were to create an ebook that would let everyone that came into contact with it brand it with their own ad, you could drive tens of thousands of visitors to a web page. All you would have to do is create an amazing ebook that your chosen market would greatly want and give it away for free. The secret is that you will offer a branding tool with the free ebook. This tool would be found inside the ebook and your reader would have to you for the link to the tool. Then, when they received the branding tool, they would be able to brand the ebook with their own name and classified ad. In other words, each person that received the ebook would want to give it away to their members and subscribers; but before they gave it away, they would personally brand the ebook with their name and classified ad. Do you see how powerful this can be? You can not only get hundreds of webmasters to give you their name and address, but you send them to a web page to download the branding tool as well. On this web page you can add banners, text ads, a subscription box to your newsletter, almost anything you know would create another response from your visitor. With well over 300,000 Ezines published every month you have quite a few choices on how you can generate traffic. Not just any traffic, but very targeted traffic. There are so many Ezines being published online, you would have to have an extremely unique topic to not be able to find at least one or two you could advertise in. The good news is that there are many possibilities in regards to your advertising options. Some of those possibilities would include publishing your own newsletter, doing ad swaps with other publishers, buying advertising in other newsletters, and writing articles. Let's say you sent one to a list of 500 customers and only 100 clicked on your link. Do you realize that those 100 visitors will normally produce more sales or sign-ups than 10,000 hits from banner ads, or classified ads? Why? Because those 100 customers know you, like you, and trust you. They've bought from you before and feel very comfortable buying from you again. This is the best traffic available online and can only be generated from your own customer list. As hard as it might seem to build a customer list, it's actually quite easy if you follow the right steps. Building a customer list: Things to consider... To build a customer list you must first have a product or service to sell. Once you've made a sale, you have your first customer; and your list has begun. This all happened to me quite a few years ago when I started marketing a computer education product online though MLM. 20

Before I knew it I had built a customer list of 300 members. However, I ended up loosing value in my list because the company never taught us how to communicate with our customers. Back then I didn't even know how to very well, nor did I have the courage to call them. So I never took the time to build a relationship with any of my customers. So whatever you do, don't make the same mistake I did. This is the most important aspect to owning a customer list. You have to communicate with your customers to make the traffic you generate as effective as possible. I could have sent them all an and had them go to a website, but I most likely wouldn't have made one sale. Why? Because they really didn't know me, they definitely didn't trust me, and I have no idea if they even liked me. :o) My point is you have to think about the "state of mind" your visitors are in when they land on your web page. Sometimes you don't have any control over that, but if you do, you can increase your most wanted response by a 1000%. That's why just building your customer list isn't going to cut it; you have to educate your customers and earn their trust by sending out valuable content on a regular basis. 21

In other words, 70 out of 100 viewers will give you your most wanted response (which usually is buying your product). How to get started: First you have to choose what marketing "vessel" will be right for you. In other words, you have to decide what product or service you would like to use to help you build the most effective profit producing list. This is critical. If you buy the master resell rights to a product that you sell for $20 dollars, then every customer you receive is a $20 dollar customer. If you sell a product for $2,000 dollars, now have a $2,000 customer. Which one do you want? Does it really matter? Yes, it does... It actually matters quite a bit. If you have a customer list of marketers that have spent $2,000 on a product, then you can keep selling high-dollar products and services to those customers. If you have built a list of $20 customers then your chances of selling high-dollar items to those customers is slim-tonone. So, before you decide what kind of list you want to build, you have to decide what kind of customers you're looking for. You can find these customers by promoting different products. 22

Your job is to decide what to sell or promote. Okay, here is a simple way to do it... First, build a list of people then send out a survey and find out what they're interested in. Then, either create a product, or find a product they want, and sell it to them. It's that simple. I will be covering this in more detail when we go over building sublists. The fact of the matter is... your most valuable traffic will always be from your customers. And your customers will come from selling products and services. Another way of building a customer list is by tapping into a fellow marketer s customer list. You can offer your product or service for free if you know that the people that see your offer are already paying customers. This is a little trick I don't see very many people doing. It's a real shame because this is one of the fastest methods I know to build a customer list. Let me explain... Let's say you have your own product or have purchased the master resale rights to a valuable product. Now, let's say that you have created a page that offers this valuable product for free in exchange for a name and address. 23

24 Traffic Mastery - The A-Z Guide To Generating Highly Targeted Traffic by Dan Moses On this page you say that if the viewer were to give you their name and address you will give them a free copy of your valuable product (the key here is to have a valuable product that no one can get for free except through you). Once you have this page set up you can search for programs that have a paid membership base and offer them a bonus they can give to their paying members. If your bonus is good enough, then the owner will be thrilled to offer it to his/her members. Once he does, and if he has a large customer list, you could instantly have a customer list of thousands and thousands of paying customers. Now all you have to do is start the relationship process. The more you can build their trust, the more sales you will see in the future. This method is definitely something you'll want to try out as soon as you have a product or service of value to offer. Here's a sample you could use: Dear (name of the owner), I have just recently put together a product that has real value and would like to offer it as a bonus to your paying customers. (Put your product info here. Make sure you also put the link to your product. That way, even if the owner doesn't offer it to his customers, you'll most likely get them on your list when they give you their name and to check out your product.) 24

So, I wanted to offer this to your customers for free. You might be asking yourself, Why I would be willing to let you give my valuable product away for free to your customers, when I could easily be charging (put the price you would charge)? Well, it's quite simple really. At this time I am concentrating on building my list and this is the quickest way I know how. Get a valuable product you would like to use and set up a web page where you can capture their name and address. Most hosting companies offer a lead capture form you can use on the web page. Remember, you have to consider who you're going to target. If this product is about marketing and you're trying to give it away to a customer list of (people that have bought gardening supplies), then it won't work. Even if some people want your product, they most likely won't buy products from you in the future. Always target your market! 2. Go to a search engine and type in keywords that are related to your product. Once you find a few websites that complement your product, write down the name and of the owner and move on until you have at least twenty owners to send your offer to. 3. Then you want to them. You should at least have 50% or more reply back (depending on how good your product is) letting you know when they will send your offer to their list. Bravo! You now have a list of paying customers interested in your product. 26

This will be one of the deciding factors between you making lots of sales from your list or not. First and foremost you need to get the basics down. Never, ever SPAM! Of course this is the number one rule you should never break. You could lose everything. Secondly, each line of your message should never exceed 65 characters. Every program is set up differently. If you go beyond 65 characters, your line could break in places you didn't intend. In other words, someone who receives an could see this... Try to keep your paragraphs to 6 lines or less. This makes it easier to read, which in turn means that, more people will actually read your s. And what's the point if they don't read them? 27

You also don't want to use too many!!!!! This will give the impression that you're very new to the Internet and it looks very unprofessional. Professionalism is very important when drafting an . An , in most cases, is the first impression someone will receive of who you are and what you represent. As a personal rule... make sure you write any as professional as possible. How do you do that? You can start by following the basic rules above. For example, always carefully proof read your messages before you send them; after all, you don't want to send something out with a lot of spelling errors. A good practice is to send a message to yourself. That way you can see exactly how it will look when someone receives it. How you end your can also have a strong impact. Once you have exchanged s with an individual, you can then lower your level of formality - just a little. When I first started out on the Internet I would end every message with my most professional ending possible... every time, even with the same person. It wasn't long before someone pointed out that I was coming across rigid and somewhat stiff. I spent some time thinking about this and came up with a very simple system. What I do is always send the first message from a highly professional prospective. Then, the second one is a little more watered down... 30 Best wishes, Dan Tip: Always save your outgoing messages. When you start getting very busy and you need to answer a lot of messages chances are you will find yourself answering similar questions time and time again. What you should do is go back to your sent files and find similar responses to those questions. You then "slice and dice" your earlier responses into your new message. Change a few sentences around, fill in the gaps, and *presto* you have a new message you can send immediately. Why spend another 20 minuets writing the same when you can apply this technique and send it in 5? Personally, I find that locating the similar s takes up most of the time. On the Internet you would call this a canned response. But most canned responses are very impersonal. I like to add my own personality in all my writings whether it's a simple or an entire article. Personality... everyone has one, but not everyone uses theirs. If you are going to become a great communicator, you're going to have to learn how to inject your personality into everything you write. The way to do that is to simply be yourself. 30

31 For me, I have found that it helps to include a couple of :o) faces here and there. You could even throw in a couple of jokes where appropriate. That's really the key... if you feel it would fit in, then by all means add it. Tip: Always respond quickly to your s. I try to respond within six to twelve hours after receiving an message. Of course, if I'm sleeping that won't happen. :o) But you can bet, as soon as I wake up and check my , I reply as quickly as possible. I have even put a yellow sticky note on my desk that reads... "I apologize for not getting back to you... (fill in the blank)" This is my reminder to get back to my contacts. But I really hate using it because I feel like I'm just making excuses. Tip: Start now and create swipe files. What you do is set up a few Notepad documents like cool snidbits... killer ad copy... awesome quotes. Every good copywriter has a swipe file to pull quality information from. When it comes time to write something, all you have to do is go to your swipe files and get some great ideas. You don't copy it word for word, but you can slice and dice the ad copy and put it in your own words. It seems that every day I read my I find something I like and copy and paste it into one of my swipe files. 31

32 Tip: Always go the extra mile. Even if someone asks a quick question, take the time to respond with a detailed answer. When you invest quality effort in communicating with others, you'll build trust and solid business relationships that can become very profitable in the long run! Well, there you have it. Follow these basic rules and tips and you will be well on your way to effectively communicating through . 32

33 Third Party endorsements - JVs A Joint Venture (JV) is created basically when two people join forces to form a partnership to jointly promote the same products. With a JV you can instantly double the exposure of your products and services by tapping into each others resources, opt-in lists, other business relationships, and advertising potential. You can start by finding a website or business that compliments your own and then you offer to partner up with them in such a way that both parties benefit. For example, let's say you've got a great product or service to sell. You contact someone who sends out a newsletter to their subscribers on a regular basis and offer them a deal in exchange for endorsing that product or service to their list. Then they send out the announcement and you not only receive a lot of traffic, but hopefully make a ton of sales as well. So, how much traffic do you think you can get from one JV? Who knows... maybe even 1,000,000's of page views. Yes, it's possible - but is it realistic? Sure it is... That's the beauty of the Internet. Anything is possible. The amount of traffic is endless and the more JVs you set up the more traffic you can expect. And the best thing about it... It's FREE! 33

34 Most people when they hear the term Joint Ventures think it only refers to finding someone with a big list to promote their product and giving them a large percentage of the profits for doing so. This is true, but there is so much more to it than that; that's just the beginning. There are so many other ways to use Joint Ventures. Let's look at the 3 main scenarios... No product You want to create a product You have a product already No Product: When most people start marketing online they don't have a product of their own and they're not really interested in trying to create one. Most people don't want to worry about the creation, inventory, order taking, etc. Can they use Joint Ventures? You bet! You can become a JV Broker. JV Brokering is a way that you can make a great living online, or even offline (as my dad does very successfully). As a JV Broker you bring 2 or more complimentary businesses together and take a share of the profits generated. As my dad would say, "You have to find (or create) a stream of money and get in the middle of it." 34

35 In other words, you find a way to help two people or companies profit together and they will be very happy to share a piece of the pie with you. You see, without you they don't make that extra profit, but with your help they profit. All it takes is a good idea and a plan. Example: Find a flower shop and a candy store online. Work out a profitable marketing strategy in which each one can make additional profits through the promotion of the others services. This could be as easy as suggesting that each of them put a special advertisement for each other on the thank you page after they paid for an order. You simply create the marketing strategy, approach each business, and then show them the benefit to this Joint Venture. They love it, thank you for the help, and pay you a percentage of the profits. Create a Product Let's say, you have a great idea for a new piece of software, but you don't have the expertise to create it. You can use a Joint Venture. There are many software developers and other professionals who would want to work with you. Many will ask for money up front but some will actually partner with you to create your product for a share of the profits. 35

36 This is actually how I created my first program. I made a deal with my web designer and offered 50% of the profits - if she did all the up front work. She agreed, and I had a new program for free. Either way, once you explain to them that they can make far more money with your Joint Venture arrangement than just a one time payment, they'll be happy to help you. And most of the time you'll end up creating a huge asset for your business that you can tap into any time you want to improve your product, or create something new. You can use this strategy for any number of services: copywriting, web design, programming, etc. If you need the service, simply seek out professionals and pitch your Joint Venture strategy to them. You'll be surprised at what you will get when you just ask. A great resource for this is On ScriptLance, you can post your project outline and situation, and you'll receive responses from professionals that want your business for a very low price. I've been very happy with their services. Have a Product If you have a product, but no list, what can you do? You can use Joint Ventures. 36

37 The easiest way is to find list owners to promote your product to their current subscribers and customers. You leverage their credibility for your benefit. Credibility is a key factor to making online sales. It takes a very long time to build credibility online, so if you can borrow someone else's, then you can sell a lot more of your products and increase your own credibility at the same time. The owner endorses your product, thus, making you more creditable to his subscribers, which in turn will lead to more sales for you and the owner. You see, it's a proven fact that you'll make more sales if someone endorses your product, than straight out promoting it by using solo ads, or top sponsorship ads. That's why you see celebrities endorsing products. They tell the public why they like that product, and sales increase. So much so, that the companies that own the product can pay the celebrities a lot of money to endorse their products. That, in itself, is a Joint Venture. Now let's put this into perspective. Let's say you set up 10 JVs with list owners that have a collective subscriber base of 100,000 targeted readers. And let's say that the owner highly recommends you. You could possibly end up with 10% - 30% of his subscribers visiting your website. At this point, you could easily receive 30,000 visitors in a few short days. Wow! And all for free. :o) 37

38 Let me tell you a story about a recent joint venture I did that generated over 200,000 new visitors, brought in 2,000 new free members, 329 new customers, and will end up at a profit close to $15,000 within the first year. This was all from one JV deal I set up with 20 fellow marketers. In my situation I tapped into my current resources available to me at the time. I asked some of my closest business associates if they would help me re-launch PageSwirl.com (which at that time I had just become the new owner). Nine of them agreed and I was well on my way. I was fortunate to already have a membership base when I bought PageSwirl. I knew this was another resource I needed to tap into, so I sent an off to them as well. This is what I sent in my newsletter... Oh, by the way, I'm planning on running a HUGE roll out for the NEW PageSwirl.com as soon as all the upgrades are completed. For this huge roll out, I'm looking for about 20 members that have a good subscriber list, and the initiative to succeed. My plan is to roll out PageSwirl across the Internet like I've never done before. This is going to make Internet history and a nice ebook some day too. :o) I already have 9 close business associates that have committed to help me roll this out. I'm looking for 11 more. 39 I'm almost finished putting together the marketing plan and will have something to send out to those committed in a few days. Our target date for "Re-Launch" is June 4th. Out of those 15, only 11 followed through with my marketing plan. Yes, I wrote a marketing plan and as soon as I had my JV team in place, I sent it to them. My plan consisted of an individual investment of $40 per JV partner. In this plan I set up a schedule for each of my partners to mail their lists at a different time of the month. I split up the JV partners into four separate mailings on different days of the week. Five people would mail their list on one day (then follow-up a week later) and then five days later another five would mail their list, and so on. What I was trying to achieve was an Internet buzz that would last the entire month. You see, I know that a lot of subscribers are on the same lists and when my JV partners spread out their mailings it gave the impression to the subscribers that this was a program they wanted to be apart of. It worked great! The other part of the marketing plan consisted of an Ezine co-op and traffic from banners and click thru programs. 39

40 It went great! I kept them updated and informed through . What was in it for them? New members, commissions, and the feeling of being part of a special team. I was excited and they saw that, and wanted to be a part of it. They caught the vision and were more than willing to help make history. And that we did, we ended up increasing the PageSwirl membership base by 2,000 and increased the Pro memberships by 329 within 30 days! Just 30 days and traffic jumped through the roof! So much so that we ended up switching servers (at the end of the following month) just to handle all the traffic. To be completely honest, the results for that one JV made PageSwirl enough money for me to quit my full time day job and stay home with my family. :o) How I Persuaded 41 Members to Go Pro In One Day I wanted to end the 30-day re-launch with a bang!
