7 Preparing for your Final Report Gold Award Committee Meeting After your project has been completed, and you have finished your Gold Award Final Report and your Gold Award Committee Mentor has signed it, turn your Final Report in to your local GSHG Program staff member. You will then be given an appointment time to come to the Gold Award Committee meeting and give your final presentation. You should wear your Girl Scout uniform or business attire with your Girl Scout pins, scarf and vest or sash to the meeting. You will be given 5-10 minutes to summarize your Gold Award project results. Plan to bring a visual aid of some sort to share your results with the Committee. Photographs, artwork, PowerPoint presentations, scrapbooks, and display boards are just some examples of what you might bring to show off your work. The Committee will want to hear how your project went if it was successful, what you learned, how you grew during the work of your project, how you used your leadership skills, and how you helped to make the world a better place. We want to celebrate your success with you. After your presentation, you will be asked to leave the room for a few minutes, while the Committee discusses your project. Then you will be asked to return. The Committee will tell you one of three things: 1. Your Gold Award project is complete; you have earned the Girl Scout Gold Award! You will receive your pin that evening. Congratulations! 2. Your Gold Award project is almost complete, but one or more details must be finished first. When you have completed these items to the satisfaction of your Gold Award Committee Mentor, you will officially be done and receive your pin. 3. You have not completed your Gold Award project; you must come back to the Committee when you have finished completely in order to earn your Gold Award. Part of earning the Gold Award is learning to work with others in a team to accomplish your goals. The importance of working with your Mentor cannot be overemphasized. Girls who work closely with their Committee Mentors have the greatest success. After you have received your Gold Award pin, wear it with honor. You have earned the highest award in Girl Scouting, and you can be extremely proud of yourself! You and your family will be invited to attend and be recognized at the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards ceremony, which happens on the first Sunday in May every year in your local area. You are also encouraged to have/host your own celebration, with your troop, service unit, or family and friends. After earning your Girl Scout Gold Award pin, you deserve a celebration!
