Perform Justification Standard 2.0 Structures and Functions The students will use knowledge of structures and functions. Objectives Pre The student will draw 3-dimensional forms from 2-dimensional shapes. Circle to sphere Rectangle to cylinder Square to cube Triangle to cone The student will demonstrate an understanding of how to draw 3-dimensional forms from 2-dimensional shapes and shade using three value changes Circle to sphere Rectangle to cylinder Square to cube Triangle to cone Time frame: first nine weeks

Instruction Pre Day 1: The teacher asked students to complete a pretest on drawing shapes and forms. The students were asked to fold a sheet of paper in half. The students drew shapes on one side of the paper and the corresponding form on the other side of the paper. If the student did not know how to draw a shape or form they were instructed to write, I don t know. Day 1: The student and teacher discussed value and a value scale. The teacher modeled how to create a value scale. The students were instructed to create a value scale. Day 2: The student and teacher reviewed form and value. The students were asked to draw a cylinder and a cone using white and black pastels. The students needed to add three value changes to the cylinder and cone. The students were asked to look at the value scales to help them with the Day 2: The teacher modeled how to draw the illusion of forms from shapes. The students drew along with the teacher. assignment. The student were asked to decide what side the light was shinning onto the cylinder and cone. The student rendered the highlight and shadow. The students were asked to blend the white and black pastels to create a grey value. Day 3: The students completed day 2 steps to render a cube and sphere.

Criteria Pre Draw four geometric shapes correctly.(circle, square, rectangle, triangle) Draw four forms correctly that relates to each geometric shape.(sphere, cube, cylinder, cone) Use excellent age appropriate craftsmanship Draw four geometric shapes correctly.(circle, square, rectangle, triangle) Draw four forms correctly that relates to each geometric shape.(sphere, cube, cylinder, cone) Create a value scale using three value changes Create four forms(cube, cylinder, sphere, cone) using three value changes (white, grey, and black) Use excellent age appropriate craftsmanship

The student was able to draw the shapes but not the forms. The second image is a picture of a teacher guided lesson done by the student. The student showed growth in The top image is the student s value scale. The student used the three fundamental tones (white, grey, and black) to describe the volume of an object. The bottom images are the students rendering of forms using three value changes. The students showed growth by changing shapes this artwork. The student insufficiently classified, categorized, or applied the element of art in the pre artwork. According to the Visual Art rubric, the student s score is a 1. into form and by adding value. The student exceptionally applied the elements of art. The student score according the Visual Art Rubric is a 4.

Proficient Level Student Work Pre Artwork Artwork

Proficient Level Growth Explanation The first image is a picture of the pre drawing without teacher guided instruction. The student is considered proficient. The student was able to draw the shapes. The student only drew two of the forms correctly. The second image is a picture of a teacher guided lesson done by the student. The student showed growth in this artwork. The student insufficiently classified, categorized, or applied the element of art in the pre artwork. According to the Visual Art rubric the student score is a 1. The top image is the student s value scale. The student used the three fundamental tones (white, grey, and black) to describe the volume of an object. The bottom images are the students rendering of forms using three value changes. The students showed growth by changing shapes into form and by adding value. The student masterfully applied the elements of art. The student score according the Visual Art Rubric is a 5.

Advanced Level Student Artwork Pre Artwork Artwork

Advanced Level Growth Explanation The first image is a picture of the pre drawing without teacher guided instruction. The student is considered advanced. The student was able to draw the shapes. The student drew three of the forms correctly. The second image is a picture of a teacher guided lesson done by the student. The student showed growth in this artwork. The student s rendering of the forms in this artwork is better than in the pre artwork. The student insufficiently classified, categorized, or applied the element of art in the pre artwork. According to the Visual Art rubric the student score is a 2. The top image is the student s value scale. The student used the three fundamental tones (white, grey, and black) to describe the volume of an object. The bottom images are the students rendering of forms using three value changes.
