The solid color finishes are offered in an eco-friendly laminate (EFX). 7 WORKSTATIONS CORNER WORKSTATIONS It s easy to realize a corner work space where one to all of the separate desk parts move independently. The corner workstation is at the center of it all and it can be height adjustable. 10 COMPELLING RESEARCH IT IS IN OUR NATURE TO MOVE The root of the problem lies in a fact that seems counter-intuitive: the human body is not made to sit for extended periods of time. We are designed to be on the move.1 Movement is important to keep the spine healthy, improve circulation and reduce muscle fatigue.1 Static muscle fatigue is relieved only through muscle movement. Standing and walking increases the blood flow to fatigued muscles and re-energizes them. Research shows that people need to get out of their chairs and move at least five minutes per hour.1 SITTING When you sit all day, your health goes into decline. 30 Results from a landmark study focusing on more than 73,000 women showed the risk of dying from heart disease to be nearly three times higher among people who sit the most compared to those who sit the least. 3 STANDING When we are standing, the pressure on the intervertebral discs of the lower back is fairly low, much lower than when we sit unsupported. However, standing uses about 20% more energy than sitting, so we get tired more quickly and look to sit down.1 SITTING AND STANDING Movement is critical for us to keep our bodies healthy and prevent illness. Alternating between sit and stand positions adjusts the amount of load on the body allowing for increased rest intervals of specific body parts, thus reducing the adverse impact of risk factors.3 Sit. Stand. Move. A HEALTHY BODY IS A BODY IN MOTION The solution can be as simple as standing up and moving. The mere act of standing on your feet burns three times as many calories as sitting in your seat. A Mayo Clinic study shows you can burn an additional 340 calories a day if you spend just two hours of your work day standing instead of sitting. HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE DESKS Adjustable desks allow companies to easily fit the desk to a variety of people (aging, people with disability or obesity, 5th and 95th percentile), rather than trying to fit a diverse workforce into one or two fixed desks. This allows users to work in their bodies ideal neutral posture the work posture where your body is the strongest and most efficient. Adjustable desks give users the capability to choose a working position that is ideal for their body. Alternating between a sit and stand position will give employees more energy, reduce fatigue, and further reduce the risks of injury caused by staying in one position too long. Adjustable desks allow multiple users to quickly move the work surface to meet their individual needs. INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY AND REDUCTIONS IN LOST WORKDAYS Many employees don t have the flexibility to get away from their workstations every hour.1 Using a sit-stand desk allows employees to take a break from their static posture without leaving their area. Investing in adjustable desks is taking a preventative step towards reducing employee discomfort and injuries. Many times, the combination of increased productivity, and the savings on workers compensation expenses alone are enough to offset ergonomic investments.
