2 HOUSTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE SOUTHWEST COURSE SYLLABUS Auto-CAD Seminar DFTG 1091 Topics address recently identified current events, skills, knowledge, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of the student. COURSE OBJECTIVE: This program is designed to enable participants to implement their professional skills in graphics, drafting and design. Participants will learn to use a CAD system to create, edit, and print a two and three-dimensional drawing. GOALS: This introduction to basic computer-aided drafting will teach students the following skills: Using the AutoCAD application Drawings using tools in AutoCAD Editing and plotting using AutoCAD Understanding of dimensions in AutoCAD LEARNING OUTCOMES: Students will demonstrate mastery of these objectives by successfully completing all hands-on, in-class assignments. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: Create drawings using AutoCAD Edit and plot using AutoCAD Create dimensions linear, aligned, rotated, baseline, etc. Edit dimensions Create Plotting drawings PREREQUISITE: Familiarity with the computer REQUIRED MATERIALS: AutoCAD 2005 A Problem- Solving Approach Sham Tickoo COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS: This is a 36-hour, instructor-guided course. REQUIREMENTS FOR COURSE COMPLETION CERTIFICATE: To receive a Certificate of Completion and Continuing Education Units, students must meet the following requirements: Attend at least 90% of scheduled class time Complete the course lab, demonstrating 90% mastery of course concepts or equivalent skills demonstrated to instructor. OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENT-FACULTY INTERACTION: Students are encouraged to ask questions and request clarification or guidance as needed during class. A question and answer period is always provided. OPPORTUNITIES FOR CAREER EXPLORATION: Topics relevant to future employment and career exploration opportunities will be presented to the students, including certification and degree prospects. OPPORTUNITIES FOR SUPPLEMENTAL INSTRUCTION: Students are informed of instructional aids and resources, including books, other publications, and web sites relevant to the course.
