Purcell's origal is a "verse an" hich sectis for -part chorus alternate ith sectis for solo voices, sgg ale or combati. My arrangement here omits the sectis for solo voices and renders the text (Psalm 128:1,) English. Purcell's rote eati omnes for choir. In this arrangement I have at a fe places altered notes or terchanged vocal les to keep each of the four parts ith its accustomed range. I have suggested metrome and terpretative marks ith brackets. Purcell ccludes his motet by repeatg alleluia sistently throughout tenty-e measures ( this shortened versi, halleluah is repeated throughout the fal seven measures). his endg makes the an an ideal musical offerg for the Last unday of Epiphany, hen halleluahs sung and then liturgically laid aside for the seas of Lent, to be revived at Easter. he an's text makes it also appropriate for ll ats' Day. o remd ourselves of ust ho uniquely marvelous Purcell's music is, e might play sloly the cadence from the fal chord of ms.8 to the first chord of ms.9; or play the fal chord of ms.12 (ith the tenors' E-flat) and then let it resolve to ms.13; or play and hold the openg chord of the Halleluah secti at the end. If e then play or sg separately each voice part as it passes through these same measures, e hear ho naturally every vocal le flos amidst Purcell's peculiar and piquant harmies.
