2 Schedule Overview
3 Sneak Peek: Tours CLAAS North American Production Tour CLAAS is a leading producer of agricultural machinery, with an emphasis on harvesting equipment. They are the global leaders in the production of self-propelled forage harvesters and are the European leaders in the sales of combines. Omaha, Nebraska is the home of their North American headquarters and their combine assembly plant, where the yellow and black LEXION combines are produced for farmers throughout the US and Canada. See how the ultraefficient LEXION is produced right in the heart of the corn and wheat belts of the Midwest. Union Pacific Harriman Center Originally a freight depot and the site where Union Pacific was sold out of receivership in 1897 the Harriman Center is the heart of train operations. Each day, it coordinates movement of more than 800 trains over more than 32,000 route miles. More than 750 people are employed at the facility, including those in The Bunker who monitor every switch and signal track on UP s lines. Strategic Air & Space Museum The Strategic Air and Space Museum is a museum focusing on aircraft and nuclear missiles of the United States Air Force. The objective of the museum is to preserve and display historic aircraft, missile, and space vehicles and provide educational resources. It is regarded as having one of the top collections of strategic aircraft.
4 Bid for Better Men On Friday evening, August 12, the Convention Banquet will feature Hall of Fame inductees and top chapter awards, along with the Bid for Better Men auction. Proceeds from the Bid for Better Men auction support The Educational Foundation of Alpha Gamma Rho. We are excited that this year s silent auction will once again employ mobile bidding technology allowing those that are not in attendance to participate, and we have already begun securing several exciting items for the live auction! We anticipate the 2016 Bid for Better Men Auction will be the most successful yet! The Bid for Better Men live auction traditionally features larger donations from alumni while the silent auction features more modest gifts such as items donated by our chapters and alumni. To ensure success of the Bid for Better Men Auction, the Foundation needs your help! Many chapters have already started collecting items to include in the silent auction! We hope every chapter will donate an agricultural or nostalgic item unique to their state or region. At previous conventions, items for the silent auction have ranged in value from $ Examples have included: State-themed variety baskets Pork Chops & Bacon from Iowa State Wine from California-Davis Crab Feast from Maryland Sweet Corn from Illinois The Foundation also hopes alumni and/or their organizations will consider donating an item for the Bid for Better Men Auction. All items donated will include an acknowledgment of donors, and the following types of items are being sought: vacation packages (golf, beach, ski, cruise, winery, etc.) hunting and fishing trips firearms artwork (agriculture, wildlife, etc.) tickets to sporting events sailing outings agricultural antiques If you d like to support Bid for Better Men, please mail the Bid for Better Men Auction Item Donation Form and auction item prior to August 5, 2016 to: Treynor Ag Supply, Inc. Attn: Roger Webster Highway 92, Treynor IA rwebster@treynoragsupply.com If you have any questions, please contact Brad Garrison, Director of Development, by at brad@alphagammarho.org or by phone at , ext. 21.
