1 2017 Dormant Bulbs List G. Alburgh Claw... $160 The largest of all the spiky doubles as well as one of the most variable. G. Alison Hilary... This galanthus has outer segments that are slim and clawed towards the base, while the inner segments are not at all flared at the apex. They also show a unique diffuse X or H mark. G. Bess... A large vigorous hybrid selected by Daphne Chappell from the garden of Helen Milford. The inner segment mark is a broad V slightly upturned at the ends. G. Big Eyes... $60 A hybrid, originally from a remote seedling swarm of nivalis x plicatus in Berkshire. This new form bewitches all who see it with large green "eyes" on its inner segments. G. Blonde Inge... A single nivalis with a yellow inner mark and green ovary. Found in Germany and a good grower. G. Chthonic... $40 A nivalis whose name means someone who inhabits the underworld, GHOSTLY perhaps. This form is almost an albino, with pale creamy grey leaves, most unusual. G. Compu.Ted... $130 A hybrid from John Sales and named after his computer wise grandson Ted. Large flowers with distinct markings. G. David Bromley... $120 A G. gracilis with an olive-green ovary and green tips to the outers G. Devon Marble... $40 From the Delamore Estate in Devon - a form of G. nivalis with amazing green streaked inner segments like finest green Italian marble. G. Diggory... $35 Possibly the most distinct snowdrop, found in a population of Galanthus plicatus near Wells, Norfolk by Rosie Steele and Richard Hobbs in 1993 and named after Rosie s late son. The outer segments are strongly puckered and curl inwards strongly, creating a look somewhat like a ballooned skirt with a drawstring around the hem. G. Dragonfly... $130 When first seen in the Herefordshire garden of Veronica Cross, everyone wanted this stunning huge flowered hybrid with extra-long pedicel. Outstanding! G. E. A. Bowles... $80 One of the best selections of recent years, a supersized poculiform of Galanthus plicatus from Myddelton House, former home of the father of galanthophiles! 1
2 2017 Dormant Bulbs List G. Edinburgh Ketton... A G. plicatus with large, rounded and clawed outers and inners with a variable green H mark. Originally from the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh, and mistakenly identified as Ketton. G. Egret... $90 From the well-known galanthophile Phil Cornish, this selection of G. nivalis has amazing outer segments curled back like the feathers of this charming bird and much coveted by all who see it. G. Fanny... A robust looking glaucous leaved galanthus which, when happy, will produce three scapes from a single shoot. Long solid outers show a pale watery mark at apex. G. Feodora... $140 From Nicolas Top. This mid-season selection of G. nivalis has a long ovary of glowing golden green to match the mark of the inner segment, but must have full sun to show its best colors! G. Fly Fishing... $60 Described as one of the most desirable new snowdrops when first seen in This was found at Avon Bulb's nursery and is possibly a Galanthus Comet seedling. G. Franz Josef... $80 A neat and handsome double form of Galanthus elwesii from an old garden in Germany. G. gracilis... A small clone with twisty leaves, olive green ovaries, and two inner marks. Charming and quick to increase. G. Gerard Parker... An early and large flowered plicatus selection. Showy and robust. G. Ivy Cottage Corporal... Well-shaped flowers. The outer segments are bluntly pointed and clawed while the inner segments have two inverted V marks like a corporal s stripes. From Michael Broadhurst. G. Lady Elphinstone... An old yellow-flowered double G. nivalis. The color can vary from year to year. Not difficult. G. John Gray... Early, large flowers with a green-washed inner mark. A favorite. G. Lowick... $40 A strong growing member of the Sandersii Group. Nice yellow ovary and inner segment mark. G. Lucy... $120 A wonderful boldly marked hybrid from Richard Bashford and Val Bexley at Woodchippings, strong growing with intriguing dark green splashes to the outer segments. G. Magnet... $15 Large flowered with a long pedicel. From the 1890s. 2
3 2017 Dormant Bulbs List G. Matt Bishop... $240 From the author of The Snowdrop Book, this large virescent form of G. elwesii is at its best in early December, and so heavily washed with green as to appear luminous! G. Midas... $200 One of the fabled color change snowdrops the green tips to inners and outers turn to a glowing golden yellow a few days after first opening. This x valentinei hybrid is best in some sun. G. Mr. Stinker... $150 From Veronica Cross and named after one of her terriers, Tinker, officially Mr. Stinker, this bizarre form of G. nivalis, has petals like a bunch of green claws. G. Mrs. Thompson... A robust and erratic hybrid. From season to season this may have three, four, or five outers. Or two flowers to a scape. Always striking. G. Mrs. Wrightson s Double... A very full-flowered, grey-leaved weighty double from Washfield Nursery. G. Pagoda... A G. nivalis with elegantly curved outers found by Simon Savage in Shropshire in G. Pat Mason... $70 A good green-tipped G. elwesii with large attractive flowers and erect spathe. G. Peg Sharples... $20 A late-flowering convolute with a shaded X mark on the inner segment. G. Percy Picton... A plicatus with a long pedicel and nicely marked inner segment. Vigorous. G. Phil Cornish... A stunning selection from the garden of the great galanthophile Phil Cornish. Wonderful all green inners with outers heavily marked with bright green. G. Philippe Andre Meyer... $110 Mark Brown s discovery, and named after a generous previous employer. This is a plicatus hybrid and one of the best Trym type seedlings. Showy and vigorous in the ground, though quite short. G. reginae-olgae ssp. reginae-olgae... Flowers in October before the leaves appear. Native to Greece. G. S. Arnott... $15 Tall and beautiful. An old variety, but still one of the best. Dependable. G. Sentinel... $40 Found by Daphne Chappell at Sutton Court, Herefordshire in A strong-growing, large-flowered plant, often with two scapes per bulb. The outers are heavily ridged and the inners are marked top and bottom. 3
4 2017 Dormant Bulbs List G. Seraph... $130 From Phil Cornish, this poculiform of Galanthus plicatus is one of the best snowdrops of recent times, aptly named and a commanding performer. G. Smaragdsplitter... An amazing early flowering from of G. elwesii, the added attraction are the unusual green flashes on the outer segments. G. South Hayes... $60 Similar in shape to Galanthus Trym but with a narrow oval to oblong streak down the outers to the base which may be broken in the middle. G. Sprite... A seedling found at Avon Bulbs. All green inners are revealed when the outers rise. These have 5 or 6 green lines on the outside surface for added appeal. G. The Wizard... $70 A seedling found at Avon Bulbs with stunningly green marked flowers, inside and out! All those who see it fall under its spell. G. Tiny Tim... $15/2 bulbs A small late-flowering G. nivalis with a Chinese-bridge mark to the inner segments. G. Trinity... A stunning G. plicatus which always produces two or three scapes from large bulbs. Standing bolt upright, the flowers have a wonderful green inner plus outers marked with what resembles a pale green scallop shell. G. Trimmer... $55 Outstanding Trym seedling with large thick outer segments with distinctive pagoda-like shape, these are beautifully splashed with green. G. Tryzm... Another self-sown seedling found at Avon Bulbs, this time under some larch but not far from G. Trym and G. rizehensis, hence the name. A dainty and delightful hybrid. G. Wasp... Found in 1995 at Sutton Court by Veronica Cross, this is a vigorous small snowdrop with narrow tubular segments. The flower hangs on a long pedicel and when swaying in the wind looks very insect like. It grows well and is quite different. 4
