The Stud Farm Tour. 2nd stop for Predjama Castle Tour. Stop for lunch at Avio Pub. The history of the Lipica Stud Farm is so rich that it tells thousands of different stories with cultural and natural heritage. All of them are woven around breeding pure-bred Lipizzaners which gave an indelible mark to the appearance of Lipica as we know it today. Predjama Castle is situated in the middle of a towering cliff. Picturesque, magnificent, defiant, mysterious and impregnable, it has been dominating the surrounding area, perched high up in the 123- metre high cliff, for more than 800 years. 15 SCENIC DRIVE DAY 2. HIGHLIGHTS. 400 km. MARINA PORTOROSE BOVEC VRŠIČ KRANJSKA GORA Heading north towards Soča Valley, driving along the Soča River, Europe s most emerald river. Starting point for Scenic Drive. The picturesque nature of the Soca valley and diverse offer are ideal for a relaxing break or an active holiday. You can enjoy in sports activities, discover the wonders of nature and explore the history of this region. The Vršič Pass with an elevation of 1,611 metres (5,285 ft), is a high mountainu pass across the Julian Alps in northwestern Slovenia. It is the highest pass in Slovenia, as well as the highest in the Eastern Julian Alps. It connects Trenta Valley with the Upper Carniola in the Slovene Littoral. The road across the pass, now known as Russian Road, was originally built for military purposes in the early 19th century and followed an earlier trade route. Kranjska Gora is an alpine resort in northwestern Slovenia, near the mountains and glacial lakes of Triglav National Park. Stop for lunch at Restaurant Lipa.
