20 Possible Impacts and their amelioration Water supplies quality quantity and sustainable future Tailings Disposal Extra Traffic Dust & Noise Flora, Fauna & the environment Maximus has commissioned base-line hydrogeological study and is aiming to ensure that local landowners water supplies will be maintained. Most tailings likely to be returned underground. A small tailings dam would be rimmed by limestone which would neutralise any acid drainage. As gold likely to be produced on site there is no large materials movement contemplated from Bird-in-Hand. These will be minimised by housing processing plant in a shed and using water on tracks to keep dust levels low. Base line studies will be commissioned. 21 Water Supplies Impact Would need to pump water from underground to keep mine safe and dry Water supplies close to pumping would probably be affected during mining After mining ceased supplies would be expected to return to normal Amelioration Maximus would generate sufficient water to supply all affected landowners with good quality water Base line studies have commenced to discuss current water supplies with landowners A detailed hydrological study will be undertaken if sufficient gold is found 21 WOODSIDE COMMUNITY MEETING - BIRD IN HAND EXPLORATION PROJECT - 15 NOVEMBER 2006
