Our easliy applied Polymerized Tung Oil wiping finishes are ideal for novice finishers and for projects that have carvings, applied pieces, awkward architecture, bookcases, cabinets, chairs and other detailed work that make finishing a challenge.

2 Original Formula & Botanical Polymerized Tung Oil These two lines are all Polymerized Tung Oil with no resin fortification. The difference in the two formulations is the solvent. The Original formula is a petroleum solvent and the Botanical is our proprietary citrus solvent, Di-Citrusol. They can be used interchangeably. The solvent becomes airborne and dissipates leaving the exact same oil in and on the wood. It is more a consideration of what type of solvent you want to work with as a personal preference or an environmental concern. Push finger tips against the grain of the wood. If they glide easily over the surface, you are ready to apply your next coat.

3 Wiping Varnish Wiping Varnish is a combination of Polymerized Tung Oil and urethane with a mineral spirits solvent. This product is a good option when you want the surface to feel like oil, but you need the increased protection of a resin. We recommended using Wiping Varnish for coffee tables, dining tables and desks. Wiping Varnish can be used in place of an oil-only option to create a finished surface using fewer coats or when working with special surfaces such as plywood and veneers. Push finger tips against the grain of the wood. 4 Murdoch s Hard Sealer & Hard Oil Formulated with our Botanical Polymerized Tung Oil, a urethane/alkyd resin and our proprietary citrus solvent, Di-Citrusol these are excellent penetrating finishes that produce a range of sheens from satin to high gloss. Murdoch s Hard Sealer and Hard Oil cure faster than the Wiping Varnish line because of the lower percentage of Tung Oil and the combination of the urethane/alkyd resin. It is a more durable surface that can withstand water exposure from splashing or washing. Lightly sand several inconspicuous areas. A fine, white powder indicates that you can safely apply another coat.

5 Murdoch s Table Top Satin or Gloss There are some applications that demand a film finish for maximum durability such as commercial bar tops and restaurant table tops. Murdoch s Table Top Gloss or Satin with a brush-on application is the best approach for high use areas such as these. After prepping the wood with Murdoch s Hard Sealer to enhance grain definition, Table Top topcoats are applied to achieve the desired sheen and protection. Lightly sand several inconspicuous areas. A fine, white powder indicates that you can safely apply another coat.
