2 ENGINE OF CREATIVITY FOR DESIGN ADDICTED PROJECTS Orlandini Design is the new line created by Paolo Orlandini. In 009, his long collaboration with Roberto Lucci (which began in 968) ended and now, with a young team of artists and designers, he continues his work under the brand name Orlandini Design. A designer firm in which his extensive experience in the sector meets with a sharper focus on new trends, new materials, and new technologies. Paolo Orlandini is a tutor at the Polytechnic of Milan, the European Institute of Design and the I.U.A.V. in Venice. Thanks to his teaching post, the firm is always in the process of welcoming new ideas and creative talents. Orlandini Design is also a Facebook page where we try to unravel the background and anecdotes related to the most important projects of the firm. Paolo Orlandini was born in Grosseto in 94. He graduated from the Polytechnic of Milan and worked for many years together with Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper. The stylistic trademark of Orlandini Design products is especially the remarkable formal cleanliness of their lines, which means designing technical solutions that make the product cheap and reliable, also with an eye to manufacturing issues. Another important feature is the programmed personalisation or, in other words, the possibility of designing the object already in anticipation of hypothetical changes requested ad hoc by the customer. This is an innovative design approach that helps companies sell better, avoiding the frantic rush to the lowest price. Among the most recent awards won by the designer s studio are: Best of Neocon (Chicago 000, 006, 008, 00); Grand Prix de l Innovation (Paris 000, 005), the Dedalo Minosse Prize (Vicenza 006), Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award (Chicago, 995, 00, 004, 005, 009, 0) and the Interior Design Best of Year award in 0.

3 Modular system of upholstered seating and panelling for offices and public spaces that responds in full to the increasingly felt need to define, within broad open spaces, small and intimate environments where staff can discuss work, use the computer, or read in peace. In the age of social media and global sharing, the need to define boundaries, albeit partial and temporary, to our actions becomes key. The armchair and desk can become a pleasant refuge from the outside world. EGO is the concrete expression of this trend. The whole system is based on a self-supporting angular element with soft and smooth shapes, which can be combined with a chair, a small desk, a worktop, or other accessories. This allows the same nent to give life to a multiplicity of different products: from the high-backrest armchair to the traditional waiting-room sofa, from the individual workstation to the multi-functional island. The linear panel is combined with the angular one to create more complex and articulated environments: small meeting rooms, waiting rooms, reception desks, lounges, multiple workstations, etc. The joint elements of the panels have been designed in such a way for them to be combined at different angles (45, 90, 5, 80 ). The tailored detail of the project is the coloured button inserted into the slot of the panels; it first of all attaches the backrests of chairs or other accessories, but also defines the aesthetic characteristics of the product. A nifty added feature is that you can redesign the distribution of the spaces on a perceptual level. The modular panels can be assembled in dozens of different ways, thus creating an infinity of different environments, versatile and able to increase productivity and reduce stress through an extremely dynamic yet reassuring design language. EGO is a system that has virtually no limits of application: open-space offices, public areas, waiting rooms, lounge areas, catering areas, and hotel lobbies. The panels and seats are made in polyurethane with textile lining; this not only to provide optimum comfort and a sense of well-being, but also to ensure good soundproofing of the individual environments, providing protection from background noise. The abacus of the elements is remarkably essential, yet complete. The various parts are completely interchangeable and give life to almost endless sitional options: types of panels in PU foam (linear and angular) in differents heights types of seats in PU foam (single, double, pouf) types of backrests in PU foam (armchair and sofa) types of shelves (angular and linear) 4 accessories in varnished sheet metal (magazine racks, coffee table, shelf, hanger) table and free-standing lamp that can be placed as desired. Being EGO requires us to create a new vision of the future, the only one possible, that can break down barriers and look with new eyes to the intermingling of cultures, while respecting all living beings on this planet, which will one day be populated by our children. EGO is a daily and solid commitment. EGO is the most ecological system of its kind currently being produced. It is made of rigid structural polyurethane with a density between 550gr/dm and 750 gr/dm as regards the internal parts; the external sections, instead, are made of low density flexible polyurethane. No added use of fuel oil for the production of the polyester base. EGO uses only 00% recycled polyester. Architects and designers are now increasingly aware of environmental issues. On a planet that for decades has had to sustain the industrial development of man, today it is essential that we rekindle our love for live materials and preserve them from unconditional use. EGO, always sensitive to environmental issues and respectful of natural resources, has created a special trademark to underscore its attention to these important issues.
